FAQ:
How do you define “LGBTQIA+” & “womên”?
LGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity meaning: lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer/fluid, queer, intersex, asexual, aromantic, and agender.
Womên describes people who identify themselves as female in their gender identity. People who fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender, heterosexual womên.
The word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that emphasizes that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined.
I am not LGBTQIA+ and not a womên, can I still attend?
No, please respect that this particular event is not for you. There are lots of other events you can attend. But Queerope one is solely for people of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum & womên.
I cannot afford the ticket but would love to join. What do I do?
Send us a message via info@karada-house.de. If we have pay-it-forward tickets available we will make them available to you. If we don’t we will put you on a waiting list or see what else we can do. Either way, we will find a way.
What platform do you use for the virtual conference?
We need to use Zoom as it is the only platform available that is affordable and stable enough for bigger groups. Please make sure you can fulfill the requirements for Zoom from your side to have a satisfactory experience. We will do our best to make the zoom calls safe by engaging all possible security features. You do not have to turn your camera on and you can use any name you like.
The times don’t always work for me / I cannot attend everything I want…
That is why we will make recordings available to you, so you can watch & re-watch them within 30 days.
If I share my computer with a person, is buying one ticket enough?
No. You are not paying for the computer access but for the knowledge that the facilitators and artists are distributing. Please respect that knowledge has a worth and should be compensated.
I am all alone at the moment and have no partner. Does it still make sense to participate?
Absolutely. There will be a variety of topics and skills and not all of them require a partner. You can learn a lot even just by listening and watching or trying things on yourself. We will also provide knowledge and possibilities for self-tying & suspension and other solo practices.

Welcome to Queerope 2024! This year we are bringing back the warm-up sessions to ease into the conference but also take really good care of our bodies, energy, and mental health. For most sessions – like this one – Caritia will be your gentle guide.
This session will help you orientate yourself and also get to know the other participants. We will talk about hopes and expectations, how to navigate the massive amount of input, and find you a conference buddy. If you ask us, this might be THE most important warm-up session to attend!

Event Details
This self-tying/ self-suspension workshop explores alternative bondage narratives by integrating material/ plastic into the tie (dry plastic bags/waste). Carefully chosen ‘waste’ in terms of color, size, sensual texture, and meaning. It probably needs a moment to enter a playful, devoted relationship with this material and oneself.
The long-duration self-tie allows for taking pleasure in sensual resilience, adapting to the plastic and its sounds. For the outside the scene gives space for questions: around the dynamic between un-/organic material, consumption/printed bags or boxes, or ‘expiry date’ of food packaging surrounding ‘bound flesh’.
In terms of rope technique, we will work with (partial-) suspension on rings or on bamboo. Plus a supporting surface such as a thin bamboo, a piece of plastic/wood to place the main weight on.
Details:
Format: hands-on workshop
Minimum Knowledge Level: Intermediate level. Participants should be firm with suspendable column ties and a suspendable futomomo. If they want to suspend themself they need to be familiar with locking of uplines on themselves. Otherwise, I suggest following along but staying on the ground, or using safe half-suspension.
What to Bring: 7-12 ropes. If you like to suspend and if available more than one suspension point. Plastic: white /colorful shopping plastic bags (like the ones for veggies from the market).
Dry food packaging from noodles/rice/veggies. Can also be handbags, disposable raincoats that can rip, and colorful garbage. It could also be many yoga mats or blankets, some material you like to deal with. A bamboo, wood, or metal barre to sit on. Going out with a friend and picking some in the street (which is not too yucky) can be fun and a nice preparation.
Basically many of the same, and what is visually interesting for you. Some music if you like. For safety friend or phone, and scissors.
Solo or Partnered: solo but partnered would work, too
Class recording: yes
This class will be recorded (only the facilitator, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event.

This workshop will start with picking some specific needs from the participants regarding difficulties with the TK.
Through Benoît’s technical knowledge and Noémie’s awareness of anatomy, we will try to go through various tips and variations and harness buildings to give everyone the keys to create their own experiments and find adaptations and solutions.
The idea is also to give models the understanding of what would work better for them and to give people tying the tools to make it happen.
Details:
Format: discussion, demonstration
Minimum Knowledge Level: These prerequisites will make the discussion easier to follow, but are not absolute requirements, as there will not be a real “hands-on” part in this workshop.
For people getting tied: having experience with TKs / gotes. Even better if they tried different types and have an idea about their preferences or difficulties.
For people tying : as I won’t go into TK basics, it will be better if you have technical knowledge about one high-hands / stemless / V-shapes TK, and one mid-hands / stemmed / T-shaped TK.
What to Bring: Your partner and one or two ropes if you want to try some of the things during the workshop, but in any case, if you really want to profit from this class, you’ll have to experiment on your own later. So, mostly: a notebook and a pen, or your favorite notes app.
Solo or Partnered: partnered, if you want to tie along, any constellation for watching

Photography stands as one of Shibari’s most influential art forms, tracing its roots from the first black-and-white photographs in Japan’s Kitan Club magazine to the contemporary works of artists like Nobuyoshi Araki and Norio Sugiura. However, it also serves as one of the most deceptive mediums for depicting Shibari, often leading to misunderstandings and complications. Carefully selected perspectives create an illusion of flawlessness, turning painful body positions into serene, highly stylized elegance. Risky restraints, primarily intended for visual impact, sometimes find their way into actual tying sessions. Moreover, standardized body types become the norm, fostering the belief that adhering to an ideal physique is necessary for enjoying Shibari.
In the first segment of this class, René de Sans and Sophia Rose will critically examine photography’s role in Shibari, discussing various examples. Subsequently, they will lead participants through a lively and interactive photo session, where they become photographers themselves.

Event Details
In the context of this workshop, sexual tension means approaching the eroticism of rope bondage without the expectation or goal of genital play or explicit sex. The content will focus on finding pleasure and sensuality in positions and touch, restriction and helplessness, and in looking and being looked at.
We will play with exposure, a bit of undressing, and some good old crotch rope. Other than that, genital play is not part of this workshop. This restriction serves two purposes: it creates a shared boundary for this collective setting, while also celebrating the non-explicit with the aim of freeing the imagination.
Details:
Format: hands-on workshop & demonstration
Minimum Knowledge Level: The workshop will focus on a few classical positions, easily tied on the floor. If you wish to include uplines in your tying, you should have some previous experience in floor-based semi-suspensions. To do exercises hands-on, you should participate with someone(s) who you can negotiate and explore erotic themes with, be vulnerable with, and be accountable with. You can always re-negotiate your boundaries and opt out of exercises if you need to. Switching roles is possible between exercises.
What to Bring: Those tying: ropes, a blindfold, and optional suspension gear. Those being tied: clothing that is right for you in terms of mood, comfort zone, and exploring sexual tension. Make sure to wear enough clothing that you are comfortable with being undressed a little.
Solo or Partnered: any constellation, partnered if you wanna tie along
