So little space is gifted to sadness and grief; frequently, these emotions are bypassed and sidelined. Caritia believes honouring, acknowledging, and releasing grief can be liberating for all aspects of your body and life. How can the practices of kink intentionally support opening up of self? Supported by the ritual container of collective gathering.
Caritia invites participants into this collective space to speak to grief as a companion through the body, acknowledging the challenges and choosing to sit together in compassion.
Grief can show up in many different ways, and there is no expectation that participants have to share their emotional states with strangers. The hope is that participants are open to being caring, tender, and vulnerable with themselves and others, and that the tools and practices offered can be explored within the space or at home (if it would be challenging to sit with your grief within the group). Note: This is intended to be a community/collective event with the intention of a supportive environment to express and feel held within the container, as an individual and collective, capacities allowing.
LGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity, meaning: lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer/fluid, queer, intersex, asexual, aromantic, agender.
Friends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity, needs, and boundaries of a queer space and its marginalized community.
When you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone's self-expression and do not assume, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people's chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges.
Friends don't have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.
