Ditch the blueprints and get creative! This class invites you to experiment with pace, rhythm, mood, and spontaneity. We’ll explore improvisation techniques, play with one-rope ties, and get inspired by wrapping, unwrapping, and re-wrapping bodies in intuitive ways.
Start here if you’re new to rope, want a solid foundation of shibari skills, or need to get back to basics. You’ll learn the “what” and the “how” of tying: handling your rope, basic knots, simple harnesses, and how rope can connect bodies and moods. We keep it relaxed, safe, and supportive.
You can come alone or with a partner. You can tie yourself or your partner. Alternatively, you can partner up with another participant.
You can but do not need to bring any ropes as we will provide workshop ropes for you.
You can also spontaneously come by on the day and purchase a ticket online right up to the beginning of the class if there is space left.
Note:
The class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. If you are not sure you can come, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it.

Karada House is a queer, diverse, and nerd-friendly space where rope is an adventure, not a competition. No matter where you’re starting from, there’s a place for you here to learn, grow, connect, and get wonderfully rope-y.
We designed our Rope School, a rope curriculum like a level-up system. It’s easy to enter, rewarding to master, and always welcoming. The basis of the system is in our weekly beginner classes every Monday, and our core curriculum classes every Tuesday.
In addition to weekly workshops, we also offer weekend workshops and intensives, community events, and online classes.
LGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity, meaning: lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer/fluid, queer, intersex, asexual, aromantic, agender.
Friends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity, needs, and boundaries of a queer space and its marginalized community.
When you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone's self-expression and do not assume, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people's chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges.
Friends don't have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.
