This exploration takes the participation on a journey behind the scenes of “the scene”. We will ask ourselves what it could mean that something seemingly so private could possibly be thought of as political. And in asking that, we will find out that if we study certain practices from a historical perspective, we automatically show that they are constructed. The histories of kinky practices act, then not as a tool for their justification, but rather to discover their uses as political agents. This workshop is about the politics of kink and the kinks of politics; it is a tour through kink as deviance, through kink as oppression and liberation alike.
