Maximalist Harnesses are a style of tying that Pauline has been developing in the past years.

This style is characterized by prioritizing comfort but is also keeping it versatile for riggers and models to play with. You just need enough ropes and play around. It’s a very forgiving harness for more new riggers and suitable for most types of bodies. Especially for models who do not tolerate too much pain and pressure on their bodies or just want to feel cozy while tied up. Even for trans-masc folks it can be a nice start building a chest binder and help with gender euphoria about their chest.

Some of those ties are suitable for self-tying folks, except the harnesses that include the arms in.

Format: hands-on workshop

Minimum knowledge level: single and double column, counter tension, half hitch, complex friction ( X, L, or half moon). Anatomy and safety of course

Maximum amount of participants: approx. 15 pairs (30 people), people watching but not participating are welcome

What to bring: bring as many ropes as you’ve got

Constellations: all constellations welcome (solo, partnered, groups)

Accessibility: We will work intensively with the sense of touch, this may be challenging for some participants. Exercises vary between standing and sitting, but can be adapted for participants who struggle in either position.

Pauline Massimo

Pauline Massimo (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator from Brazil based in Barcelona, Spain. With more than 11 years of professional experience in the art field from painting, dance, performance art, photography, and Shibari to event curator, space holder, educator, community building, and art director in those few past years. They have been to a vast number of workshops and have equally experienced as a rope model, rigging, and self-tying. Pauline is educated and interested in the broader range that Shibari can provide as a practice, like classic Japanese style as more contemporary mixed styles, they are mostly interested in the mental and physical challenge that this practicum can offer as much as the challenge of creating experiences that adapt for different tastes and capabilities.
