Kink, Violence & the Unseen

2. March 2025, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

In Torture, Play, and the Black Experience, Aaron Trammell states that “play functions as a tool of subjugation—one that hurts as much as it heals and has been complicit in the systemic erasure of BIPOC people from the domain of leisure.”

This workshop explores the absence of BIPOC individuals from intimacy spaces—both educational and physical—and examines the barriers they face. It also critiques the continuation of a “copy-paste” culture in learning about kink and BDSM, which often lacks critical thinking around boundaries and intentional adult play.

Caritia invites participants to engage in this ongoing dialogue, delving into the nuances of intimacy, BDSM, and the unique challenges and perspectives of BIPOC communities within these spaces.

This event is part of the “Queer Intimacies Conference – Re-Thinking & Queer(ing) Sex, Kink, and Intimacies 2025” Conference and can be purchased as a solo event or part of our day or full conference tickets.
