Event Details

WERK is a dance ritual designed to get you in your body, while helping you to develop somatic awareness, body autonomy and knowledge of how to self regulate your nervous system in times of stress and anxiety.

WERK is open to everyone but we specifically invite and create space for Queer, Trans, Indigenous, Black and POC folks (QTIBPOC). QTIBPOC are currently under represented and under served in conscious dance, somatic and healing spaces, despite many of these practices having roots in our cultures.

WERK is a space to access the healing and revolutionary power of dance and free movement. In an indigenous African context, dance rituals are essential for connecting to ancestors, feeling into community and metabolising grief, as well as celebration. In our current times, it feels important to sense into the world through our bodies so we can think clearly, to respond rather than react out of fear.
