Power is an energy that so many find elusive to grasp and even more challenging to hold on to with the intersections, cultural differences and politics of our present time. So let’s dig deep and unearth the truth behind the lies we have been fed. Power and privilege are not about class or economic status we each hold, these are colonial binds that can be loosened and released. Let’s find your power and empower others.

Caritia invites participants on a journey of destruction and experimentation to embolden and uplift themselves and each other. Intentionally investigating the questions ‘who gives me power?’. And ‘what makes me powerful?’. Whilst acknowledging the forms of privilege we each hold and how to actively share and communicate about them, to find the present and actual ways you wish to play or be in your everyday.
Caritia will offer questions for reflection, place participants in pairs or small groups to brainstorm (breakout rooms), share in the larger space and engage in body based exercises to ground these explorations into the body physically, mentally and emotionally.

What we will teach/do

  • Power and Hierarchies – definitions
  • Boundaries & Negotiation
  • Intersectional layers
  • Communication, strategies and language
  • Questions and feedback
  • Body connections / attention practice
