We are excited to welcome you into the beginning of your shibari journey in the comfort of your own space. Here we start from square one, with no knowledge, skills, tools or equipment needed and no assumptions. We design everything so that its easy to understand, with pointers for how to go deeper.
We cover
- Fundamental principles – so you leave equipped to start tying without guidance, ready to be creative and go further by yourself
- Safety – how to avoid things going wrong and what to do when they do.
- The body – how to build knowledge of any body you are tying and know your way around with the ropes
- Psychology – tying for different people and minds, and what makes people feel good.
- Philosophy – bites of history and background for why things are the way they are
We start with fundamental infos, then go into practical learning, and end with open space for putting those new skills to use and tying ourselves or someone else.
We go through rope from both sides, whether you’re tying or being tied, as we believe you’ll have a better time with rope when you have a basic understanding of the other side too.
If you have a few ropes, awesome, lets use them. They can be shibari ropes, or whatever else you have. If you have nothing in front of you, you’ll still gain the knowledge for when you will, also with the recording and a few notes.
We welcome
- all kinds of bodies (abled and non-abled), all gender expressions, all kinds of sexualities (including people on the ace-spectrum), all kind of brains (neurospicy or neurotypical, affected by trauma, etc.)
- people coming solo or bringing a partner (or group), people who only want to tie their own bodies as well as people who want to tie/get tied by others
- all clothing options (but light comfy clothing might be best), all skill levels and all confidence levels.

More Information
LGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity, meaning: lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer/fluid, queer, intersex, asexual, aromantic, agender.
Friends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity, needs, and boundaries of a queer space and its marginalized community.
When you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone's self-expression and do not assume, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people's chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges.
Friends don't have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.
After your successful ticket purchase, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. If you do not receive it, message us with your order number so we can send it again. Some email services "disappear" our messages so please check if you received our login data email.
If this session includes a recording you can obtain it by simply purchasing a ticket. You will automatically get access to the live class and the recording as they come in a package. The recording login data will be sent out 24–48h after the live event and will be available for 14 days after the live event. Please note these classes are places for experience, not for instruction. Nothing here is tested or graded — only perceived, felt, and shared. All offerings are invitations to reflect — no curriculum, no exam, no training. Recordings exist solely to support personal integration and are available only for a limited time.
Yes, because you are paying for the knowledge our facilitators distribute, not for the access to Zoom itself. We kindly ask you to respect that and pay accordingly.
Before purchasing a low income or hardship ticket, please check who low income and hardship tickets are for.
If our reduced tickets (low income & hardship) are sold out or still too expensive, write to info@karada-house.de. No one's left behind.
