Rope is Political is a series of discussions held during the Queerope Berlin 2024 conference.
This session will examine the political pitfalls of valorizing authenticity and viewing sex and kink as innately revealing or tied to “truth telling.” We’ll talk about the political imperative to create and respect opacity in tying. Reveling in artifice over revelation, in extimacy over intimacy, this session is a gesture towards the importance of a sexuality no longer driven by forensic desire.
