No two relationships with our Self is the same, so why should yours look like anyone else’s? Let’s work beyond the statements that say “just love yourself” to figure out how to relate to yourself and help you thrive.

Whether you’re struggling with isolation, dealing with loss, or want to delve deeper into what makes you “you,” many people say the key is to develop self-love. This is so important… but you need to build a relationship with the person in the mirror. Whether you need to become your own friend, your own partner, your own co-worker, your own lover, or something else entirely, this is your chance to find the life balance that serves you.

By doing so, you can also build more fulfilling relationships with others and find support in community.

Note: This class centers individuals with diverse mental health realities.

What we will teach/do

In this class we will get the opportunity to see the wide array of relationships we have with ourselves and work together to brainstorm other ideas to be inspired outside of an assumed lens informed by capitalist tropes. Let’s create a space where we are not alone in this work as well, because you don’t have to do the work of self-love in self-isolation. We will…

  • Examine the array of types of relationships individuals have with themselves and choose one or two that you want to move towards or support
  • Consider the descriptors of the ways those relationships manifest in your life and determine how to move in that direction
  • Tease apart the differences between self-love, self-care, and toxic positivity
