(R)Open Stage is where the Karada House rope community steps into the spotlight. It’s an evening of experimentation, courage, creativity, and connection — whether it’s someone’s very first time on stage or their twentieth shibari showcase.
Come perform. Come witness. Come cheer your friends and buddies on as they take that leap. This is a performance night created by the community, for the community.
(R)Open Stage is designed especially for first-time performers, brave beginners, and anyone wanting to test raw or evolving ideas in a supportive environment. Absolutely! If you’re unsure about your concept or feeling nervous, feel free to chat with us after a workshop or at a jam and we’ll support you.
(R)open Stage is perfect for taking your first steps with performing, leaning into your exhibitionism, polishing pieces you have been working on, or finding community support for your art.

We offer performers a cozy backstage with a bit to eat, snacks, tea, and coffee. We provide a basic sound system, basic stage lighting, and rings or bamboo to tie on. We also have BDSM supplies like candles and impact play toys.
Please arrive 60 minutes before opening so we can take care of practicalities (like what food to order). If you need extra equipment for your performance and want to bring it to the house beforehand, contact Ceci.
LGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity, meaning: lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer/fluid, queer, intersex, asexual, aromantic, agender.
Friends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity, needs, and boundaries of a queer space and its marginalized community.
When you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone's self-expression and do not assume, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people's chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges.
Friends don't have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.
