Online Class – Shibari Training Basics 2 – Patterns (mixed)

Every Thursday in April we will be offering 90 minutes classes on shibari inspired rope, to offer the opportunity for on going practice and improvement with your rope practice. This class is for those who are without a partner to practice with and will offer tools and techniques to encourage, as well as inspire on going practice.

Basics 2 (8.30pm-10pm)

For Basics 2 René will encourage participants to practice, drill and study essential patterns for floor play ans suspension. René will focus each class on a specific cluster e.g. upper body ties, leg ties, hip harnesses etc. and teach you not only the patterns but also why they are designed that way, what they are good for and how to do them safely.

What you need to know in order to participate:

This is an advanced beginner’s class. You need to know

rope terminology

singles & double column ties,

principles of tension/counter-tension

safety protocols

nodome, half moon friction, hitches/half-hitches, somerville bowline or fast bowline

In order to be allowed into Basics 2 you must demonstrate the ability to tie 10 single column ties in 5 minutes, 10 double column ties in 5 minutes and you must be able to tie a somerville bowline.


What to bring:

You can practice and experience this workshop alone at home or with a partner. All you need are three to five ropes, so you can follow and do all of the exercises.
