What to know:
Person tying must at least master single column tie, double column tie, counter tension and X friction. Communication being a central element in shibari it is always preferable to come with a partner with whom you already practice in order to allow a good experience. It's important to have already discussed the framework of your practice (desires, intentions, limits, ways of managing consent).
What to bring:
If you’d like to tie : A minimum of 6-8 jute ropes (or hemp), ideally 5mm or 6mm in diameter and averaging 7-8 meters in lenght will be required + safety equipment Small-diameter strings or ropes are also welcome but not essential.You can also bring pieces of fabric, tenugui, or T-shirts.

By grotesque, I mean anything that disrupts the usual codes of beauty, symmetry, or elegance : bodies that are exaggerated, absurd, distorted, or uncanny.
Sometimes monstrous. Sometimes eccentric. Sometimes unsettling.
In this class, I’d like to play with that.

Through floor-based bondage, we will create distorted, awkward, excessive shapes ,sculptural, absurd, sometimes monstrous. Not to destroy beauty. But to move it somewhere else. To stretch it. To let it exist
beyond the usual codes of desirability. Objectification can reduce a body to a function, a surface, a form. Here, we’ll explore that reduction on purpose noticing how intention, gaze, and
framing shift the experience.

Cat (she /her)  has been a shibari model for 3 years, enjoying semenawa and exploring the possibilities of her body. As a course model, she also enjoys sharing the techniques that have enhanced her experiences in ropes. She regularly gives classes in Paris at “Port d’attaches” and with Bänana at La Cabäne.
