ELYEN loves to conceptualize themselves as an instrument that uses many tools for (sonic) expression.
Their background in critical social work helps them understand music as a connective tissue between living beings. Their neurodivergent life experience helps them understand music as technology of communication where verbal language fails.
Extracting nutrients from the roots of spiritual, sacred, and traditional music and the musical experiments and fusions that happened from the 20th century on, they create sounds and collaborative spaces that help us tune into that which connects us all across differences, without attachment to any dogmatic current.
Their experience lies in instant composition, facilitating sound improvisation groups, ritual music for sex-positive events, DJing, and some years of performing with different constellations.
For the open space on Friday, ELYEN will dare to bring their loops and psychedelic sounds back into a public space after years of pandemic isolation.
