SUMMARY:The Intimacy of the Unknown: Risk\, Consent\, and Connection in Sex Work
DESCRIPTION:What happens when intimacy thrives in uncertainty and the absence of familiarity? This session explores the unique connections that can emerge between strangers in sex work where fear and trust coexist. We’ll think about how risk and uncertainty shape intimacy\, trust\, and shared humanity. \nThrough a filmed demo\, storytelling\, and discussion\, we will explore \n• The intimacy of “not knowing” someone deeply.\n• Navigating risk and liminal consent in sex work.\n• Pushing boundaries and building trust without the weight of history\, trauma\, or expectation. \nJoin for a critical and personal exploration of intimacy\, risk\, and humanity. \nThis event is part of the “Queer Intimacies Conference – Re-Thinking & Queer(ing) Sex\, Kink\, and Intimacies 2025” Conference and can be purchased as a solo event or part of our day or full conference tickets.  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 2nd\, 2025\, 8.00 pm – 10.00 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion/demo (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum knowledge level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: yes\, the recording will be available for 30 days to the conference participants. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:An Introduction to Thinking Traumatophilically
DESCRIPTION:This interdisciplinary event brings together clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst Avgi Saketopoulou\, artist and researcher Andrea Rimon\, and pro-domme Sophia Rose for a lecture and discussion exploring the concept of traumatophilia. \nTraumatophilia refers to the fact that we are drawn to touching our wounds\, even to reopen them. Individuals might seek out to engage with past trauma not out of some pathological impulse but to brush up against it\, making contact with what is opaque and unrepresentable in the self. This may\, in turn\, open pathways for psychic and emotional transformation. Building on ideas from Saketopoulou’s book Sexuality Beyond Consent: Risk\, Race\, Traumatophilia\, the discussion highlights how traumatophilia\, in conjunction with her concept of limit consent\, offers new ways to understand kink as a practice for working with traumatic material. \nUnlike affirmative consent\, which Saketopoulou argues overpromises\, limit consent is not something we “exercise” or something that is “done” to us: it has more to do\, rather\, with surrendering to an other or\, more precisely\, with surrendering to the opacity in the other and to the opacity in ourselves. Limit consent\, in other words\, dares into those gray areas where desire\, risk\, and uncertainty intermingle. This concept challenges rigid binaries of consent and non-consent\, proposing a nuanced framework for exploring the complexities of relational and erotic experiences. \nThe discussion also introduces Saketopoulou’s idea of exigent sadism\, a form of sadism that emerges not as careless cruelty but of a queer form of cruelty that also involves the sadist’s own vulnerability as well as a measure of support for the other. Exigent sadism is an ethical variant that stages the necessary and imperative parameters for the other to endure something difficult. This is an urgent\, relational call to engage with the other through intense and sometimes painful experiences. Together\, these concepts create a fertile theoretical foundation for rethinking consent\, risk\, and the generative possibilities of engaging with trauma through embodied\, relational\, and creative practices. \n  \nThis event is part of the “Queer Intimacies Conference – Re-Thinking & Queer(ing) Sex\, Kink\, and Intimacies 2025” Conference and can be purchased as a solo event or part of our day or full conference tickets.  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 2nd\, 2025\, 5.45 pm – 7.45 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: lecture/discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum knowledge level: – \nWhat to bring: pen & paper \nClass recording: yes\, the recording will be available for 30 days to the conference participants. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Trauma-informed Negotiation
DESCRIPTION:Let’s make space to acknowledge the reality that most (if not all) of us may carry some histories and experiences of trauma in our bodies. When we play with the vulnerability and intimacy of kink and BDSM\, we could come into contact with these realities. How do we take better care of ourselves and one another if this is the case? \nThis 2-part-class will support you to enhance your negotiation skills beyond the basics of what you do and don’t want to do during play. How do you communicate and ask transparently about trauma? How could this show up and what to do if someone becomes triggered? What does safety and care look and feel like for you in a kink context? Let’s take an in-depth exploration into how we can develop our negotiation practice to be more trauma-informed. \nThis 2-part-class is suited for people throughout the kink spectrum\, from top to bottom\, Doms and subs\, riggers and people who like to be tied\, and switches alike – we will look from the perspective of both ‘sides’ of the equation\, what needs to be known\, how to support one another\, and how to create negotiation styles which work for you. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 8th & August 22nd\, 2024\, 7 pm- 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level:  n/a \nWhat to bring:  A journal. Any questions you have \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations. The ticket price is per person. \nClass recording: Yes. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Resilient Space Holding
DESCRIPTION:This workshop series is for people who hold sex-positive spaces and wish to learn more in-depth how to ground in awareness of power\, intersectionality\, consent\, conflict transformation\, and trauma-informed approaches. Many of us have come to hold space for sex-positive activities more or less by accident. We quickly realize that the intersections we hold are complicated and multi-faceted. We will support you in holding space for others by teaching you these skills\, plus self-empathy and self-resourcing. \nNote: This workshop series is also part of a larger training program\, consisting of this workshop series and our upcoming in-person training for space holders and teachers that will take place in June 2024. You can purchase this option right now and will be sent the video shortly after the live classes have ended. \nPrice per person: 40-60 Euros sliding scale (if you can still not afford this offering\, please email us and we will find a way.) SUMMARY:Rope & Photography
DESCRIPTION:Photography stands as one of Shibari’s most influential art forms\, tracing its roots from the first black-and-white photographs in Japan’s Kitan Club magazine to the contemporary works of artists like Nobuyoshi Araki and Norio Sugiura. However\, it also serves as one of the most deceptive mediums for depicting Shibari\, often leading to misunderstandings and complications. Carefully selected perspectives create an illusion of flawlessness\, turning painful body positions into serene\, highly stylized elegance. Risky restraints\, primarily intended for visual impact\, sometimes find their way into actual tying sessions. Moreover\, standardized body types become the norm\, fostering the belief that adhering to an ideal physique is necessary for enjoying Shibari. \nIn the first segment of this class\, René de Sans and Sophia Rose will critically examine photography’s role in Shibari\, discussing various examples. Subsequently\, they will lead participants through a lively and interactive photo session\, where they become photographers themselves. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level:– \nWhat to Bring: – \nSolo or Partnered: any \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

\n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  October 10 & November 7th\, 2023\, 7 pm- 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level:  n/a \nWhat to bring:  A journal.
