Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Frictions Part I \nFrictions are needed for the stability and versatility of tying. Join this open training to learn frictions for freestyle floor training. SUMMARY:Rope & Photography
DESCRIPTION:Photography stands as one of Shibari’s most influential art forms\, tracing its roots from the first black-and-white photographs in Japan’s Kitan Club magazine to the contemporary works of artists like Nobuyoshi Araki and Norio Sugiura. However\, it also serves as one of the most deceptive mediums for depicting Shibari\, often leading to misunderstandings and complications. Carefully selected perspectives create an illusion of flawlessness\, turning painful body positions into serene\, highly stylized elegance. Risky restraints\, primarily intended for visual impact\, sometimes find their way into actual tying sessions. Moreover\, standardized body types become the norm\, fostering the belief that adhering to an ideal physique is necessary for enjoying Shibari. \nIn the first segment of this class\, René de Sans and Sophia Rose will critically examine photography’s role in Shibari\, discussing various examples. Subsequently\, they will lead participants through a lively and interactive photo session\, where they become photographers themselves. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level:– \nWhat to Bring: – \nSolo or Partnered: any \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Tying & Untying
DESCRIPTION:Every beginning has an end and every end is a new beginning. \nIn the last Warm-Up Session of this conference\, we’ll look at the tipping point between tying and untying. Does untying mean the end of a session? Or can it be the invitation to increase the intensity of playing? How can we overwrite the narratives that make someone think of the end while they get released from the ropes? \nWe will share thoughts and ideas and will be playing on how to consider the process of untying as an active part of a session instead of an inevitable end. \n  \nPhotography: Harmony Shields \nDetails: \nFormat: warm-up session \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: ropes\, paper\, pen\, body \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:The Smallest Things – Tying with Intention
DESCRIPTION:The smallest things can have the most significant emotional impacts. In this introductory workshop & demo\, Mamana and René de Sans will dive into the topic of spacial relations\, touch\, directionality\, and movement in the most simple and seemingly diminutive ways that will make quite a difference to you and your partner in ropes. Away we steer from the grand gestures of the person tying and the dramatic melting away of the person in ropes that one sees and therefore often unconsciously replicates when tying. Instead\, we go small and intentional looking at the tiniest things we can do when relating to one another and how being careful and intentional will change the way you relate in ropes. \nThe ideas of this class are heavily influenced and draw from the teachings of Barkas\, Addie Tahl\, Akechi Kanna & Akechi Kagura. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 16th\, 2022\, 7-10.00 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & demo \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: rope basics (single column tie\, rope handling\, tension and counter tension). \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes with nice textures\, ropes \nSolo or Partnered:  paired. \nTicket: Price is per PAIR \n  \nWhat we teach/offer: \n– relating to one another in space \n– directionality and meanings of touch \n– body movement (involuntary and voluntary) \n– intention and attention to yourself and your partner \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others.
