SUMMARY:Tying on Stage – Performing with Rope
DESCRIPTION:Are you curious about creating rope performances\, but unsure how to get started? \nOr maybe you’ve already been on stage but need some more creativity and confidence? In this workshop\, Ceci and Maeve will support you in creating compelling tying scenes to share with an audience. You will learn how to construct rope performances\, both with planned choreography and improvisation. \nCeci and Maeve will share practical tools and lead you through hands-on exercises to create interesting experiences for yourself and the audience. Ceci has 13 years of experience in rope performances. They are joined by dramaturg and movement artist Maeve. Together they will look at the subject from the perspectives of rope and performance. \nIf you wish to test run your performance\, you are invited to apply for (R)Open Stage\, our community performance evening! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  February 22nd\, 2025\, 12pm- 6pm\,  includes 1h lunch break \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you need to be able to tie (all levels welcome) \nWhat to Bring:  People need to bring ropes and any props\, outfits\, etc. related to their performance idea or that are inspiring to them. \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered\, everybody needs a ticket.  \nPrice: 60 Euros per person for the entire weekend \n  \nWhat we will teach you \n• Interesting narratives and scores\n• Finding your voice\n• Directing the view of the audience\n• Practical tricks and tips \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.
