DESCRIPTION:Queer Intimacies is a two-day conference exploring the diverse landscape sexualities\, kink\, and intimacies\, bringing together theorists\, practitioners\, and participants to bridge theoretical insights with lived experiences. \nThrough workshops\, lectures\, and discussions\, we will question\, critique\, broaden\, and/or reimagine topics and concepts within kink\, sexualities\, and intimacies research and practice that are too often used without exploring their history\, meaning\, or potential for expansion and change. \nWhat even is intimacy? What is kink play and who gets to play and who doesn’t? How do we produce pleasure and desire without adhering to normative and gendered scripts? What kinds of desirability politics do we enact without even knowing? How is kink a practice to work with the material and ideas we usually have no access to? This conference will not offer nicely packaged answers but rather try to open doors for more ideas and questions to enter the discussion. \nWhether you are a scholar\, an activist\, a practitioner\, or someone simply curious about these themes\, Queer Intimacies aims to provide a weekend long welcoming and inquisitive space to share knowledge\, foster dialogue\, and engage in critical reflection. \nYou can buy a day ticket for Saturday here. A weighted blanket and noise-canceling headphones will be provided. DESCRIPTION:  \nPolyamory / Ethical Non-Monogamy are becoming more and more part of the intersectional\, queer\, and also the kink discourse around politics\, freedom\, and identity. These practices are complex and have a huge potential to free yourself from oppressive norms of any kind. However\, shedding yourself from certain societal and personal conditioning is often complicated. DESCRIPTION:  \nA rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. You can hang out\, have coffee\, tea\, or soft drinks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nNote: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n  \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: December 14th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both work\, this is peer learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as a participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend that you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. If you feel socially awkward\, like many of us do\, bring someone you trust with you\, or send us a message in advance so we can prepare to give you extra support. \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo\, and rings provided. \nIn the summer: the silent garden (you can tie in the garden in the summer breeze but we keep noise levels low in this area. \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. Adaptations for physical needs will be shown and can also be provided upon request.
