SUMMARY:Kink and Trauma
DESCRIPTION:  \nTrauma and kink are deeply embedded in each other. \nAll kinds of power dynamics we play with either reflect oppression and violence or turn them around to subvert what we have to live with. This is where transformation begins. \nThis workshop is about creating enough safety within our group so we can actually negotiate trauma-related scenarios and play. \nTo get there\, we will discuss and practice nervous system regulation\, what attachment wounds have to do with the way we relate\, and how important it is to place our kinky endeavors within communities of care and our movements for change. \nMost of us know about the trauma responses of flight\, fight\, and freeze. During our weekend together trauma response fawning/appeasement will have a special place in our explorations. Can service topping be part of a fawning response? Is getting out of submission that is about appeasement liberating – and what does submission look like after that shift? \nAnother focus will be on conflict and fuck ups. These are inevitable when we are brave and go to difficult places. Let’s take some time to explore and be playful around this topic! \nVulnerability\, respect\, and gentle ways of relating with each other instead of Berlin coolness and showing off! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 2-3th\,  2024\, 11 am-6 pm \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English / German translation \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you have knowledge about your kinks and some knowledge about your specific triggers and trauma \nWhat to Bring:  Bring an object that soothes you or calms you down\, like a blanket or cuddly toy or a stone\n \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome (Limited to 10 participants) \nPrice: 120 Euros per person \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English.. The space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. Adaptations for physical needs will be shown and can also be provided upon request. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Online Dating\, Kink and Trauma Tingles
DESCRIPTION:The term “trauma tingles” was coined by Nkem Ndefo and is talking about the sexy excitement many of us feel when we re-enact dramatic dynamics that feel very very familiar – and therefore „safe“ for the oldest part of our brain. Whatever we did when we were small was wise and adaptive and ensured our survival. But often\, our old patterns are not helpful anymore. \nWith the aspect of “trauma tingles” in mind\, it’s time for us to take an honest look at our dating patterns. Some of us keep running into the same dating dynamics over and over again. It is important to look at them with compassion. When BDSM or kink is part of what we desire we have a beautiful way in to explore and negotiate boundaries\, consent\, and desire. It is good to discern again and again what is open and honest communication and what is trauma tingles. \nFor some of us\, online dating is like a liberation. For others\, swiping can feel like ordering pizza\, dehumanizing others and ourselves. Not being able to even imagine being part of this form of hooking up can feel alienating. Excessive online dating can be like drugs\, or working too much\, or whatever our coping mechanisms are – a way to avoid feelings like fear\, sadness\, and emptiness. Dynamics that come from what we did as kids to survive seem thrilling and sexy sometimes – trauma tingles. \nThis workshop will work with lots of practices to help our nervous systems avoid overwhelm and regulate on their own and to co-regulate with each other. There will be solo exercises and later in the day we will work in pairs or small groups with the option but not the obligation of touch. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: July 2nd\, 2023\, 11 am  – 5 pm (1-hour lunch break) \nFormat: workshop & discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & WOMÊN \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level:  – \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, your stories and openness\, comfortable clothes \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome\, everyone needs a ticket \nTicket: Price is per person \n  \nWhat we will do in this workshop \n– solo and pair/group exercises \n– exercises to (co)-regulate the nervous system \n– attachment (styles) and the human need to connect \n– attachment problems and their relation to trauma \n– intersectionality and positioning \n– sharing stories (confidentiality is key in this class!) \n– consent\, boundaries\, self-worth \n– playfully connecting to ourselves and others \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:Sexual Identities and Class
DESCRIPTION:Sexual identities are not fixed in any way. They change and transform and evolve constantly…. \nWe might identify as top or bottom or switch or slut or asexual or stone or bi or pan or queer or lesbian or kinky or straight or gay or poly or femme or butch or non of the above „boxes“. \nHow do class and the way we grew up (in poverty/ middle class / rich and all the places in between) come into play? \nDuring the first part of the workshop\, we will talk about topics of class and other social positionings like geography or race as they intersect with one another. This happens with a focus on how our sexual identities are shaped by them. It is not meant as a discussion but rather personal storytelling and active listening. Participants who want to share are asked to talk about their own experiences. \nThe second part of the workshop is about shame and pride and how we feel them in our bodies. This being a trauma-aware approach\, we will start with a guided meditation that helps us ground and sense our bodies. We will find an anchor that keeps us centered and from there explore a tiny little bit of what shame can feel like in our bodies. \nIt is possible to only take part in the 1st part of the session and to skip the 2nd part – or to watch it later! \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 2 -3.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de
