SUMMARY:Rope Trends\, Beauty Standards\, and Accessibility
DESCRIPTION:Shibari does not exist in a vacuum\, the subculture has its own trends and norms. These are not static\, but change with time and follow power. Ties and aesthetics have different levels of accessibility. This is a demo and exploration on the last 15 years of rope trends. Ceci will share their observations\, and you’re invited to share your own experiences. \nWe will try some retro ties and analyze the similarities and differences with current trends. Ceci will cover both harnesses and suspension shapes through demos and a presentation. Some ties are possible to self-tie\, some will require tying with a partner.

SUMMARY:Mermaid Variations
DESCRIPTION:This technical workshop on the half mermaid tie calls for all merpeople – mermaids\, mermen\, and merthems – of all sizes and shapes. We will queer up this classic by playing with geometrics\, rope placement\, and suspension attachments. How do you make it supportive\, tie it on a soft body\, or make it more masculine? How do you make it more curvy or straight in suspension\, or suspend it from the back? \nJoin this class for not only a deeper understanding of the half mermaid\, but also a broader understanding of tailoring ties. There will be both demos and tie-along exercises\, you can self-tie or tie with a partner.

SUMMARY:Rope Fundamentals: Basic Harness Blueprint
DESCRIPTION:What makes a harness… a harness? This class introduces modular thinking. Learn about structural components like stems\, wraps\, frictions\, and cinches\, and apply them to simple ties. You’ll build on your understanding of how and why harnesses are constructed\, not just how they look. \nRope Fundamentals\nStart here if you’re new to rope\, want a solid foundation of shibari skills\, or need to get back to basics. You’ll learn the “what” and the “how” of tying: handling your rope\, basic knots\, simple harnesses\, and how rope can connect bodies and moods. We keep it relaxed\, safe\, and supportive.

SUMMARY:Fix Your Fighting: Communication Tools for Hard Topics
DESCRIPTION:Let’s be real: most of us weren’t taught how to fight well. We either explode\, shut down\, or dance around the truth until resentment builds. When conversations get hard\, so many of us fall into the same traps — defensiveness\, blame\, avoidance\, people-pleasing. But conflict doesn’t have to be a disaster. It can be a doorway. \nIn this workshop\, Ceci invites you to unlearn the toxic communication patterns that keep you stuck\, and replace them with tools that actually work. Not to keep the peace\, but to speak truth\, stay human\, and grow through conflict. \nYou’ll explore:\n\n\nHow to start the hard conversations you’ve been avoiding — and how to listen when someone else needs to express \n\n\nWhat to do (and not do) when emotions are high \n\n\nHow to recognize and shift the patterns that keep you locked in loops \n\n\nHow to stay in empathy without abandoning yourself \n\n\nWhy conflict is not the enemy\, it’s an opportunity for clarity\, healing\, and deeper connection \n\n\nIf you’re tired of conversations that go nowhere\, or fights that leave you wrecked\, come get some tools to do it differently. This is a space for honesty\, courage\, and trying things a new way.

SUMMARY:Fat Rope: Suspension
DESCRIPTION:Join this demo & lecture to learn how to use the strengths of soft and heavy bodies for kick-ass suspensions. We focus on the mechanics and planning that make shibari suspension safe\, empowering\, and effective for fat bodies. We’ll look at how to work with weight\, softness\, and shape — not against them — to create efficient\, comfortable\, and powerful suspensions. \nWhat we’ll cover\n\n\nBody assessment & communication: how to talk about comfort\, pressure\, and risk with partners. \n\n\nTension & placement: manage tension and use geometry to adapt ties and positions for different body proportions and mobility needs. \n\n\nSuspension planning: understand how to build sequences that minimize strain and maximize stability on both sides of the rope. \n\nBody handling & load distribution: figure out how to lift\, where to support\, and where weight is distributed in suspension.\n\nProblem-solving: troubleshoot common issues like rope sliding\, getting loose\, or being uncomfortable. \n\n\nThis class is fat and queer centered and body-inclusive. All identities\, genders\, and body types are welcome. Tops\, bottoms\, and switches will all find practical tools to apply right away — whether you’re flying\, lifting\, or supporting. The focus is on the suspension process and no specific harnesses are taught.

SUMMARY:Rope Fundamentals: Shibari Starter Kit Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the new year — and your rope journey — with a weekend that bundles our entire Rope Fundamentals series into one playful\, beginner-friendly shibari workshop. We have reworked our rope curriculum\, and you get to reap the benefits in this relaunch weekend. \nAcross two days\, you’ll move from the simplest building blocks to a clear understanding of how harnesses work. Whether you’re brand new\, brushing off old skills\, or craving a solid base before exploring deeper techniques\, this weekend is designed to set you up with confidence\, creativity\, and connection. \nYou can bring someone with you to tie with or come solo and find a partner at the workshop. \nJoin us for the full journey\, or pick the day that suits you best: \n\nFoundations & Fun (get day tickets for Saturday here)\nNerdery & Harnesses (get day tickets for Sunday here)\n\nFoundations & Fun\nSaturday gives you the tools that make shibari fun — or intense\, or meditative\, or horny\, or whatever flavor of rope you want to create. Ceci will get you started with the most essential techniques: the lark’s head\, the single column tie\, clean wrapping\, managing tension\, and staying safe. Once those basics are in place\, we spend the rest of the day putting them to use in playful\, intuitive ways. \nWe’ll explore freestyle tying and improvisation to loosen the pressure of “doing it right.” Through one-rope exercises\, wrapping\, unwrapping\, and re-wrapping bodies\, you’ll learn to follow curiosity instead of memorizing patterns. Because rope isn’t static — people move — we’ll also practice guiding and responding to movement through levers\, spirals\, and simple transitions like sitting to standing or shifting limbs mid-tie. \nAlong the way\, we dive into the emotional and psychological effects of rope: how body positions\, pacing\, tension\, and proximity can shift headspace and shape intention. With just a few simple ties\, you’ll learn to create sessions that feel impactful\, intimate\, and expressive. \nTake aways:\n\nLarkshead & single column tie\nRope safety\nOne rope tying\, wrapping & unwrapping\nPlaying with different intentions and moods\nMoving bodies & tying in movement\n\nNerdery & Harnesses\nSunday is for the rope nerds (or for anyone ready to become one). Today we dive into the mechanics behind stable\, comfortable\, body-friendly tying. We’ll explore how to apply rope with intention\, how to create structures that fit real bodies\, and how to make your tying smoother\, safer\, and more efficient. \nYou’ll learn counter tensions\, ladder structures\, your first frictions\, and how to wrap with flow and consistency. These building blocks are what allow harnesses to hold their shape. We’ll also cover ergonomics and hand techniques\, like hooking and pulling rope\, so you can tie for longer without soreness or strain. \nWith these tools in place\, we’ll begin tying simple harnesses and\, more importantly\, understanding why they work. You’ll get a clear picture of the core components (anchors\, stems\, wraps\, frictions\, and cinches) and start recognizing the logic behind shibari structures. This modular thinking becomes the foundation for everything that comes after. \nTake aways:\n\nDouble column tie\nRope handling & ergonomics\nTension\, counter tension & ladders\nIntro to harnesses: anchors\, stems\, wraps\, frictions\, cinches\nFrictions: Half hitch\, full stop\, munter hitch\, in-line single column tie\nOne rope harnesses: chest harness\, futomomo\, box tie

SUMMARY:Intentional Kink Spaces: Structures & Organizing
DESCRIPTION:Ceci is back—this time with a deeper dive into the behind-the-scenes work that holds intentional kink spaces together. This workshop is all about the structures and organizing practices that shape how our spaces function\, feel\, and evolve. \nOn a structural level\, we’ll explore how to navigate accessibility\, power\, accountability\, consent\, and intersectionality with care and intention. What does it actually take to build kink spaces that don’t just feel good\, but are rooted in shared values and collective responsibility? \nWe’ll also get into the real talk of organizing with others: group dynamics\, conflict\, division of labor\, boundaries around unpaid work\, and how to sustain ourselves while doing this work. This is a space for shared learning—bring your strategies\, your questions\, and your chaos. Together\, we’ll build a collective toolkit for queer\, grounded\, and resilient organizing. \nYou’ll leave with\n\n\nConcrete tools and models for running intentional kink spaces \n\n\nSpace to reflect on your own organizing challenges and dreams \n\n\nSupport and insight from Ceci and fellow community organizers \n\n\nA richer understanding of how to build spaces that truly hold us \n\n\nWhether you’re already running events or just imagining something new\, you’re warmly invited.

SUMMARY:Sensory Play
DESCRIPTION:Our senses are powerful gateways to pleasure\, intimacy\, emotion\, and connection. In this workshop\, we’ll dive into the rich world of sensory play—where touch\, temperature\, sound\, smell\, and taste become tools for discovery\, delight\, and creative expression. \nThrough guided exercises\, playful experiments\, and a menu of sensations to try\, you’ll learn how to both stimulate and deprive the senses to heighten awareness\, deepen connection\, and expand your play. Whether you’re drawn to the soft and subtle or the sharp and intense\, this workshop gives you the tools to build your own sensory play scenes. \nWhat We’ll Explore\n\n\nTouch between bodies and with tools – from featherlight to firm \n\n\nTemperature play – hot wax\, cold ice\, and the mellows in between \n\n\nPlaying with smell\, taste\, and sound – how everyday sensations can become extraordinary \n\n\nSensory deprivation – removing one sense to awaken the others \n\n\nThis workshop welcomes all bodies\, all genders\, and all experience levels. Come curious and open to exploring. Bring a partner to explore with to make sure you get the full experience. \n\n
