SUMMARY:Open Rope Training (Intermediate): Creating Structured Suspension Harnesses
DESCRIPTION:This monthly intermediate open rope training is directed at building on what has been taught in the Beginner Open Rope Training. \nTopic of Exploration: Creating structured suspension harnesses \nIn this workshop\, Ceci will continue on the path of modular thinking\, to help you create your own suspendable structures and patters. They will give you different tasks that help you understand why we tie the way we do. This will let you design ties that fit the person you’re tying. \nStyle: Ceci’s tying is best described as fusion-style with a deep understanding of different schools of Japanese rope bondage. They are a specialist in modifying harnesses to different body shapes\, sizes\, compositions\, and abilities. Ceci is driven by understanding why people tie the way they tie\, and loves to deconstruct technique and communication into their basic elements to understand them better. In suspension\, Ceci prefers working low\, staying connected\, and moving through transitions. \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time:  every 2nd Tuesday of the month\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin) \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience: LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single-/double column tie\, basic frictions\, you need to be able to tie an upper body harness\, simple up-lines \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, a set of 8 of your own ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  preferably partnered but you can also partner up in the class with other solo people or tie yourself (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros per person\nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. If you are not sure you can come\, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it. \nIf you know you will come to the open training more than just once\, please ask for our discount card! (For every 5 classes\, the 6th class is on us!) \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules\nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note\nWe teach in spoken English. The space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. We will show adaptations for physical needs and they can also be provided upon request. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \nWho is this event for?\nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\,\nFriends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. Remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges.\nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \nWhat else to know\nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Inventing Suspension Harnesses
DESCRIPTION:Inventing suspension harnesses is the workshop that will make you understand how easy tying actually is. Or at least that’s the most frequent feedback Ceci gets for it.\nCeci will give you tools for inventing and building your own suspendable harnesses that fit the person you are tying and your own personal tying style. You will get both technical and creative skills. Ceci will demonstrate exercises for creating both structured and chaotic harnesses. You will also get ideas for games that feed creativity. \nThis workshop is based on lecture content and demonstrations. We recommend watching the class live to have the opportunity to ask questions\, and then taking time to practice with the recording. You can tie along live\, but there won’t be pauses for catching up. The workshop is suitable for both partnered tying and self tying. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 4th\, 2025\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: demonstration and lecture (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level:  solid practical understanding of the fundamentals for floor-based tying (single and double column ties\, ladder\, half hitch\, munter hitch) and some experience in tying harnesses for suspension\, understanding of own and partner’s limits and capability to make informed\, negotiated decisions\, no physical requirements for participants. \nWhat to Bring: Pen and paper. After the workshop\, you will need a full rope set fit for suspension to practice (the exact amount of ropes depends on the body size of the person you are tying and your tying style) \nSolo or Partnered:  both is possible\, everybody needs a ticket \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be available for 14 days after the live class \n  \nWhat we teach \n· Frictions for suspendable harnesses \n· Tension and rope placement \n· Systems of building harnesses \n· Creativity exercises \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Potato Sacks & Body Handling
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is heavy. It’s passive\, it’s hard to move and hard to lift. This is a workshop for fat bottoms. We take up space\, we give the ropes our full weight\, we stop minimizing ourself\, and we become potato sacks. Ceci will guide you in letting go and finding freedom. Technically we will explore how to give weight\, what passivity means\, and how being heavy can actually help movement and suspension. \nPartner: tba. \n  \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nMinimum knowledge level: You need to bring a person who can tie you in semi-suspension or suspension. You are able to communicate boundaries. You have some understanding of how your body functions in movement and can avoid injury through modifications and/or communication. \nMaximum amount of participants: as many as fit the space \nWhat to bring: A rope top who is able to do at least semi-suspension. Enough ropes to tie a couple of harnesses and uplines. \nConstellations: partnered\nPassive watching is allowed \nAccessibility: We will move around on the floor and it is not safe to do passive play standing up. You might end up moving around on your knees without realizing you’re doing it\, so maybe bring knee pads if it’s helpful.

SUMMARY:Rope Hangout: tying to furniture and objects
DESCRIPTION:A rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. You can hang out\, have coffee\, tea\, or soft drinks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nThis time we will focus especially on: Tying to furniture and objects\nThe things you research\, share\, and explore at rope hangout don’t have to be on topic\, it’s merely a source of inspiration. \nNote: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n  \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: May 14th\, 2025\, 7-10 pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both work\, this is peer learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as a participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend that you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training (Intermediate): Side suspension
DESCRIPTION:This monthly intermediate open rope training is directed at building on what has been taught in the Beginner Open Rope Training. \nTopic of Exploration: Side suspension \nIn this open rope training we will explore how to create a side suspension. This shape is relatively approachable for suspension beginners and is easily modified for different abilities and body types. We will work with upper body harnesses you already know (for example a TK or arms front harness suitable for suspension)\, and Ceci will teach you how to support the lower body. You can stay in semi suspension or get fully into the air. \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time:  every 2nd Tuesday of the month\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin)\nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single-/double column tie\, basic frictions\, you need to be able to tie an upper body harness\, simple up-lines \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, a set of 8 of your own ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  preferably partnered but you can also partner up in the class with other solo people or tie yourself (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros per person \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training for Beginners: Basic Structures and Modular Thinking
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Basic Structures and Modular Thinking \nApproximately 90 % of rope bondage patterns are based on the same basic structures. Join this open training for an introduction to understanding the modules on which a lot of patterns are built. You will leave with a greater understanding of the “why” behind rope technique as well as the ability to more easily improvise well built patterns.. \n  \nTeacher of the week: Ceci \nCeci teaches bondage from top\, bottom and switch perspectives with the intention of creating safer spaces to communicate through rope. They focus on curiosity\, play\, fun and the courage to learn from failure. Ceci likes to deconstruct technique and communication into their basic elements to understand them better. \n  \nYou can come alone or with a partner. You can tie yourself or your partner. Alternatively\, you can partner up with another participant. \nYou can but do not need to bring any ropes as we will provide workshop ropes for you. \nYou can also spontaneously come by on the day and purchase a ticket online right up to the beginning of the class if there is space left. \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. SUMMARY:Self-Suspension: M-Shape
DESCRIPTION:The M-shape suspension is one of the easiest ways to get started with self-suspension. It’s relatively safe and comfortable\, and suspension lines are easy to manage. In this workshop\, Ceci will guide you through creating this shape. They will also give ideas for how to continue into transitions and additional tying from this shape. \nThis is a tie-along workshop\, and Ceci will wait for you to have your harnesses ready before starting the suspension. The process is easier if you can have your camera on. Ceci’s tying is comfort focused and designed for slowness and stillness. This is not a dynamic or acrobatic self suspension class. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 24th\, 2025\, 7-9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop\, lecture & demonstration\nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: a solid understanding of rope fundamentals (ability to tie harnesses fluently) and suspension (suspension line attachments and locking\, understanding of risks) \nWhat to Bring:  You will need enough rope for making a chest harness (1.5-2.5 ropes)\, a thigh harness or two (1-2.5 ropes per thigh)\, plus 2-4 suspension lines (depending on if you need lines for the thighs). \nSolo or Partnered:  solo \nClass recording: Yes.
