SUMMARY:Kink & Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur BDSM scenes and subcultures are embedded in our society and societal norms\, in what we know\, in what we want to transform. Kinky people do not exist in a bubble in which power relationships no longer matter just because we negotiate certain dynamics in our play relationships or are “nice” to each other at play parties. \nIn other words: We bring ourselves with us\, all our experiences and assumptions when we participate in BDSM. We are not automatically of integrity or really empathetic because we like “cool”\, deviating sex techniques or because the label “queer” fits us. \nThis workshop is for folks of the global majority and those who identify within the BPoC spectrum and is about creating an atmosphere of exchange that is as free as possible of (self) accusations and harshness. It’s about gently approaching a violent issue\, the racist system\, in which we are deeply entangled and in which we participate every day. In order to regain our individual\, as well as collective dignity\, and to establish new forms of engaging with the world and systems that we inhabit. Let’s not allow ourselves to be caught up in the performative acts and actions\, as well as acknowledge that we as BPoC folks can not change everything. Acknowledging that “Faster\, higher\, further\, performance\, immediately” is counterproductive. Let’s face ambivalences. Pausing to allow complexity to arrive in our body. Polarity is not our true reality. \nOften shame stands in the way. Shame paralyzes\, triggers the impulse to flee\, wants to hide. That is why in our workshop we will devote ourselves to shame\, taking time for it\, in the hope not only of appreciating it but also of being able to leave it behind us again and again. In the hope of being able to be a little more part of the change that is so urgently needed.\nIn addition to simple body and breathing exercises and meditation that can take place lying down\, sitting\, or standing\, we approach the topic of shame through telling stories\, exchanging ideas in small groups\, and role play. The focus is on how perceiving our own bodies\, and furthermore our nervous system and in this way making new experiences that\, in the best case\, helping to overcome shame and to get out of the rigidity into motion. \nThis workshop is open to the full spectrum of BPoC & PoC folks who are seeking intentional space to share\, relate and express on the topic of shame and the challenges faced by the systems that oppress those whom the system was not built for and as it relates to BDSM and kink in your life. \nOn the same weekend\, there will be a workshop by Emma Steel for *white people\, which is also dedicated to the topic of racism and shame. \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 30th\, 2022\, 12pm-6pm \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Womên\, BPoC & PoC\, only \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, curiosity\, comfortable clothes\, snack food\, blanket \nSolo or Partnered:  both work (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \nNote: No one will be turned away for lack of funds\, write to us with your offers and contributions. \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Winter Solstice Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Acknowledging the change of season each year can support us in noticing our own cycles\, transitions and ways of being. In the Southern hemisphere\, it is Summer and here in the Northern hemisphere\, we are in the Winter season. Time to retreat\, recoup\, rest\, however\, do you know what that means for you? SUMMARY:Creating Intentional Space(s)
DESCRIPTION:Sharing space is something that can be fun\, challenging\, complex and messy\, no matter the dynamics. \nTo create a space for yourself as a solo individual is different from an event offered in a public setting involving 20 or 1000 people\, for example\, a play party or club night (or any other space). Are there cross over or universal aspects that can support you\, your play partners and groups who desire to create space together? And what are the parts that are unique to your personal experience(s) that need to be considered to allow for you to be in a playful/intimate/open state? \nIn this discussion\, lab & shared collaborative setting\, Caritia aims to offer an inward to outward approach for creating space that offers nuance for expansion\, creativity and support when walking into the unknown. As well as keys to communicating and practical ways to resolve challenges in & away from charged situations. This 3-hour workshop is a toe-dip into a complex subject\, attendees will be encouraged to do their own ongoing research. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 14th\, 2021\, 7-9.30 pm \nFormat: workshop & discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring:  Pen\, paper\, questions and an open mind to discovery \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome (the ticket price is per person)\n \n  \nWhat we will teach/offer you \n• meditation\n• communication styles\n• boundaries\, negotiation and care\n• what is intention? how does it relate to space or the creation of them?\n• who do you wish to be in an intentional space? Character creation & persona exploration\n• objects and items – what they can represent in space and support creativity\n• utopias of play\n• feedback and questions \nClass recording: Yes. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \nWho is this event for? SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:Our intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink. SUMMARY:Follow the Leader
DESCRIPTION:“Power tends to corrupt\, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” Lord Acton – source phrashes.org.uk The proverbial saying conveys the opinion that\, as a person’s power increases\, their moral sense diminishes. Is this a line that must always be followed? \nThe act of leading\, of being in charge or taking charge is so frequently presented by society in damaging ways. And yet there are stunning\, as well as beautiful examples to the contrary. Would a part of yourself find joy in being given space to lead? Offering yourself the pleasure of intentionally and respectfully taking\, speaking to what you desire? \nCaritia invites you to find out more about the power you hold\, the power you yield and to explore intentional ways in which each person within the dynamic can find their way to walk in a way that respects your own boundaries\, those of others and the excitement\, as well as intimacy leadership\, can hold. \nThe space offered is to learn more about your relationship with power\, leading\, leadership and active following. \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 4th\, 2021\, 11am – 6pm \nFormat: workshop & exploration space \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring: Anything that would support your process and communication style \n \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered (everybody needs to buy a ticket) Participants who join alone will be invited to pair with other solo participants.\n \n  \nWhat we will teach/offer you \n– meditation \n– what is power? what are the elements of power? \n– negotiation as a leader \n– leading vs dominance \n– creating boundaries within your space \n– communication in an intimate space \n– Feedback and close \nAbout Caritia: lives in a queer\, gender-fluid\, BiPoC (perceived as feminine) body. SUMMARY:Deconstructing Power in Kink Dynamics
DESCRIPTION:Power has different meanings depending on the context and perspective you are coming from. In kink and D/s dynamics power is often associated with the dominant side and the act of consensual taking of power over the submissive partner. \nThis is where things get messy for many people. How do we dare to take when taking and power are often convoluted and associated with unconsenusal power-grabbing and or overwhelm? How do we distinguish it from malign action and egocentrism? How do we deconstruct what is nourishing/empowering\, from what is not? Taking power has a poor track record and there is a great deal of discomfort in the act of taking. \nIn this workshop\, we are exploring this topic through an intentional kink framework that offers participants an opportunity to explore and take a journey into how you can bring parts of the deconstruction and reconstruction of power into your every day and kink life. \nIn this workshop\, Caritia aims to support you in deconstructing the narratives and stories you hold about power and to critically enquiry what intentional power play\, dominance and power exchange\, are for you with respect to playing and intimacy. \nThis workshop is for everyone who is struggling to step into a dominant role\, take power and enjoy the process. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 11th\, 2021\, 11.30 am – 7 pm \nFormat: workshop & discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring:  questions\, curiosity\, comfortable clothing\, towel\, toys \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \n  \nWhat we will teach/offer you \n– meditation \n– what is power and how is it built? \n– intentional power spaces? \n– whose the boss? \n– care\, health and why they are important \n– what are your roles \n– what forms of power play are you looking to explore? SUMMARY:See Nothing
DESCRIPTION:Having access to the full spectrum of our senses is a privilege and naming this is feels important in the context of this workshop offering. \nExploring our full sensory range is often best supported by removing/taking one sense away. Sensory deprivation play is a way to create intentional space for this\, what might that look like – using a blindfold or closing your eyes gives a whole new perspective on what or how you ‘see’ your personal worldview. Taking away your ability to speak or hear yields other effects. Let’s explore this together. \nIn this workshop\, Caritia aims to playfully encourage you to find out more about your sensorial palette\, slowing down\, taking away and returning each element with new insights (hopefully) for your body and mind. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 28th\, 2021\, 11am-2pm \nFormat: workshop & discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring:  questions\, curiosity\, blindfold\, earplugs\, noise-cancelling headphones\, gags\, scarves\, masks\, hoods or items that will restrict or obscure your sense of sight\, hearing or ability to speak. \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \n  \nWhat we will teach/offer you \n– meditation \n–  sensory deprivation what is it? \n– the intersectionality of space holding \n– care\, safety and health – physical & emotional \n– what’s your role? \n– Feedback and close \n  \nSafety Concept \nYou need to bring proof of testing (not older than 24 hours)\, or proof of vaccination in order to be let inside. \nHand disinfectant provided in multiple places. All surfaces are disinfected and will be disinfected in between use. \nSpace is limited to give more space for everyone. \nWe frequently air the space and also use fans for more circulation. \nYou must wear a mask at all times. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n
