SUMMARY:Addie & Barkas: Beyond Ropes – Masterclass for Advanced Practitioners & Rope Teachers (payment)
DESCRIPTION:In this masterclass\, Barkas and Addie will be taking the participants on a journey that goes beyond mere tying. In various sections\, we will be looking at the fine details of some advanced techniques\, at performances\, rope pedagogy\, as well as community building\, and navigating a fast-paced rope world. This workshop is directed at those who are already proficient in their tying and who are now looking at what to do with that skill. \nPlease note that participants need to apply for this workshop. An application includes a brief letter of intent (previous experiences\, previous teachers\, a reason for participating) and a brief video of their tying skills. That video should ideally show the ability to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie without problems as well as a suspension including locking off up-lines and lowering to the ground. An application should include both partners\, i.e. letter of intent\, and the video should include both the person tying and the person in ropes. Switching absolutely welcome but for time reasons\, not every exercise can be done by both. Short-term changes of partners are possible with a check-in ahead of the workshop. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 2 & 3\, 2023\, 11 am-6 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: see the explanation for the application \nWhat to Bring: Ropes! Tying partners should be willing to get emotional with each other and explore their bodies as well as their psyche.  \nPrice: 380 Euros per pair (solidarity price is 300 Euros\, limited availability) \nTicket: price is per pair \n  \nWhat we will do: \nThe tying part of the workshop includes content from\n– ranboo\n– Yukimura style\n– Suspension transition\n– General rope – communication techniques\nOther parts of the workshop include\n– General pedagogy and acquisition of skills. Creating comprehensive content for teaching ropes\n– Teaching-consent and teaching consent\n– Performance set-ups and the play with the audience\n– Creating spaces and community hubs \nand more… \n  \nTeaching Consent \nEveryone is unique. We will show exercises that work for us. If you can’t\, for any reason\, practice an exercise\, let us know and we can offer a workaround.  \n  \nWhat else to know \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:The Politics of Kink – Kink is Political!
DESCRIPTION:This exploration takes the participation on a journey behind the scenes of “the scene”. We will ask ourselves what it could mean that something seemingly so private could possibly be thought of as political. And in asking that\, we will find out that if we study certain practices from a historical perspective\, we automatically show that they are constructed. The histories of kinky practices act\, then not as a tool for their justification\, but rather to discover their uses as political agents. This workshop is about the politics of kink and the kinks of politics; it is a tour through kink as deviance\, through kink as oppression and liberation alike. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 30th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nPrice: 25 Euros \nTicket: price is per person \nRecording: This session is not recorded \n  \nWhat we will discuss: \n. Possible histories of kink\n. Deconstruction of terminologies\n. What is political? What is power?\n. Kink is political – now what? Possibilities.\n. Discussion with us \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.

SUMMARY:Why do Suspensions?
DESCRIPTION:  \nTo suspend the other with ropes can offer a huge variety of different experiences at once. It can bring the person in ropes into a completely different state at best and be a stressful and harmful experience at worst. The attraction of suspension rope work presents itself in many ways and it is obvious that suspending your partner requires a good understanding of the rope techniques. \nThis workshop does not teach yet another pattern or position in the air but explores the whys of suspending as well as the meta aspects of being “in the air”. In a handful of exercises\, we take a look at why we might want to suspend in the first place\, how we can change the story arches prescribed into suspensions\, as well as how we can use suspensions to communicate with each other more consciously. \nThis workshop is geared towards those who think about starting to suspend as well as those who already have suspension experience but want to look at the practice from another perspective. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 5th\, 2023\,  7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring:  – \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n\nA cultural clue as to why we might want to suspend\nSuspension and consent\nBreaking the usual. How to suspend without doing always the same\nBeginning and end of a suspension.\n\n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. SUMMARY:Non Verbal Communication for Rope
DESCRIPTION:  \nOne cannot not communicate. The smallest hand movements\, facial expressions\, body positions\, and whatnot are adding to a patchwork of communication that is constantly at work between the tied and the tying person. A lot of that is happening subconsciously and we will never be able to mean literally everything we do. But we can make an effort. In this workshop\, we explore the little details of body language that are spoken during a Kinbaku scene. We specifically look at the person tying and what they are doing in terms of hands\, face\, position\, and timing. \nPrerequisites: A strong interest in tying is enough. Although we will tie more or less complicated patterns\, those are not the focus. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 28th\, 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring:  – \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n\nWhat is nonverbal communication?\nHow can we become more aware of the space around and between us?\nTiming is everything. What are the proper moments of doing something?\nThe attitude of tying. How can we align what we are tying with how we are tying it?\nFeedback loops. “I know that you know that I know that you know…”\n\n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. SUMMARY:Shame – A Different Approach
DESCRIPTION:  \nShame\, for many\, is a constant shadow\, a companion that seems to hold the power for great pain as well as for great pleasure. Shame is also used in a vast discourse of understanding cultural differences and even to describe entire societies. And shame is often treated like yet another mere tool for kink play\, like an object or even a fetish. \nIn this workshop\, Barkas and Addie deconstruct the various concepts of shame and “recycle” them for rope bondage. With a new understanding of the terminology\, we will take shame and use it to approach intimacy and identity a little bit differently. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 17th\, 2023\,  7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n* shame – guilt; what’s the difference if there is one?\n* The two poles of shame; the directionality of shame.\n* Uncovering and covering; how etymology can be used in a rope scene.\n* Put in place; the position of shame.\n* Shame in Yukimura Ryu.\n* Who is ashamed?; the connection between shame and identity.\n* Shameless; being ashamed of shame and how to play with that.\n* Discussion \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. SUMMARY:Barkas’ City of Kinbaku Series
DESCRIPTION:“il n’y a pas de hors-texte” – there is no outside of text. \nBarkas’ approach to Kinbaku or bondage is one that is rooted outside of rope\, outside of kink\, and even outside of sexuality. It looks for its ideas in architecture\, museums\, amusement parks\, orchestra rehearsals\, and public transportation. \nIn this workshop series exclusive to Karada house\, Barkas will take the participants on a journey through Barkas’ metaphorical city of Kinbaku. We will explore the evolution and current presentation of concepts\, old and new\, that will enhance participants’ rope play. This workshop follows concepts rather than specific patterns\, so participants should expect to come away with thoughts\, inspiration\, and avenues of exploration\, rather than step-by-step progressions. \n  \nPart I: Prologue \nJanuary 25th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nWhere is Barkas Kinbaku coming from and what do the various influences mean? A lesson in establishing contexts. Exercises in seeing\, in listening\, and reading. \n  \nPart II: Barkas Cit of Kinbaku \nFebruary 1st\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nAll the different ways in which Barkas’ Kinbaku can be approached. Exercises in doing. \n  \nPart III: Outlook \nFebruary 8th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nThrough exercises\, we will see where Barkas Kinbaku could go and establish a possible trajectory. Exercises in expectations \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 25th\, February 1st & 8th 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie. Basic frictions. \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Deconstruct Your Kink
DESCRIPTION:How can we approach the big ominous terms in kink and intimacy? \nIn the vast field of kink\, sexuality\, and intimacy we encounter them on almost every step. Nothing seems to be able to hide from them; if we meet them\, they are often the reason for heated debates and absolutistic claims about their meaning. They are the big terms for relating to each other and many seem to be convinced that their meaning is obvious. But what is behind terms like pain\, shame\, sex\, identity\, and alike?\nIn this workshop\, Barkas and Addie present a hands-on discussion of what deconstruction means and what a productive deconstruction of several big terms of the rope and kink world could look like. There will be exercises but not necessarily with ropes. \n  \nThis event is a fundraiser event. All proceeds go to Karada House for building their new physical space in Berlin. You can choose how much you would like to pay for this event\, 10 Euros being the minimum amount. You can change the amount by simply typing into the field and changing it accordingly. Thank you for your support. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  October 16th\, 2022\, 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: None \nWhat to Bring:  curiosity \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Ranboo Style Part III: Floor & Air
DESCRIPTION:Ranboo\, literally translated means stormy\, overwhelming\, wild. \nAbout 10 years ago\, Barkas developed Ranboo as a way of rejecting a static and often seemingly boring practice of rope bondage. A wild dance while tying with each other is the result.\nRanboo is characterized by a large amplitude of variation of distance\, speed\, and intensity\, paired with an element of surprise. It is not a set of patterns or a “visual goal” but a way of interacting\nwith your partner(s) through rope\, a specific interview type\, if you want. \nIn this 3-parts workshop series\, Barkas and Addie will accompany the participants through the principles\, applications\, and variations of Ranboo\, while keeping a strong focus on safety. \nDisclaimer: The highly dynamic nature of ranboo comes with the potential of greater risk for injuries. We strongly recommend participants watch the series in order and only \npractice exercises from the latter parts if they are proficient in basic techniques. \n  \nPart III Floor & Air (October 5th\, 2022\, 7-10 pm CET) \nRanboo on the floor is challenging due to various aspects. In this part\, we use these challenges to further familiarize participants with the concepts developed in the previous parts but on the floor. Some challenges of ranboo that appear on the floor are similar when we go into suspensions. Other challenges are added. We go through a suspension and see how ranboo affects the way we can tie in the air. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  October 5th\, 20212 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. None of that is a threshold for participation in general and participants of all levels are welcome.\nWe strongly recommend not to tie along when you are not proficient in the underlying rope techniques. \nWhat to Bring:  ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along in Part III \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor III: Advanced Communication Techniques
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. Despite this\, connection and communication as concepts are slippery to define\, tricky to exemplify\, and often tautological in explanation. Connection is not created by a set of actions\, by a particular pose\, by close proximity\, or touch. It cannot be prescribed\, nor\ndoes it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, there are techniques that help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\,\nrespond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and\nthus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. This Metaphor formed the basis of Barkas’ book\, Archeology of Personalities: A Linguistic Approach to Erotic Rope Bondage. \nSince then\, the Interview Metaphor has grown and gathered friends – the Archive\, Reciprocity\, the City\, to name a few. Each of these concepts gives a fresh view into how scenes work\, how\npeople interact\, how power structures evolve\, and what we make of/build with our efforts and intentions. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding\nin the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this is a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of\nconcepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. This final part deals with the less obvious corners of nonverbal communication and we will be looking at the interview from the perspective of music\, architecture\, and poetry. \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. \nIf you wish to purchase a series ticket for all three parts\, click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 5th\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie\, part I and II recommended but not necessary \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class and will remain available for 14 days after the end of the entire series. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \nIf you cannot afford the ticket price (even the solidarity price)\, please send us a message. We will find a way. \nPhoto: Ryan Zyro

As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \nPart I:\nPower and communication. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor I: Power and Communication
\nPart I:\nPower and communication. We will discuss with the help of simple exercises how the terms power and communication can be understood in the context of rope bondage. It marks the emergence of the interview metaphor. \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. \nIf you wish to purchase a series ticket for all three parts\, click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 22nd\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes.
\n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 7th\, 2022\,  7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n* shame – guilt; what’s the difference if there is one?\n* The two poles of shame; the directionality of shame.\n* Uncovering and covering; how etymology can be used in a rope scene.\n* Put in place; the position of shame.\n* Shame in Yukimura Ryu.\n* Who is ashamed?; the connection between shame and identity.\n* Shameless; being ashamed of shame and how to play with that.\n* Discussion \n  \nWho is this event for? SUMMARY:Barkas & Addie
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we want to make sure that practitioners know they don’t have to take themselves too seriously. \nWe are queering ropes\, we deviate from the norm and have fun. We tie with everything but hands. This is mostly for the fun of it but also contains a very valuable lesson: \nUnderstanding how certain techniques like frictions\, knots\, or patterns work without the use of your hands generally elevates the understanding of those techniques. A win-win situation. \nEveryone should try. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie \nWhat to Bring: ropes safety gear \nSolo or Partnered: all constellations welcome \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Barkas & Addie
DESCRIPTION:A lot of rope bondage is pattern-based and showcases the outcome of a tie\, a finished pattern\, a finished position. \nWorkshops in rope bondage all too often focus on the construction of a pattern or the final position into which the person tying has moved the person in ropes. This workshop goes in a different direction and explores the moments in which ropes are applied to the body. The impact of ropes has a similar temporality to music\, i.e. the moment a note has been played\, only memory remains of it. In tying with each other\, the moment ropes are applied to the body\, only a memory of the impact remains. We will use this temporality to work on different modes of impact\, movement\, and communication. \nContent: \n* Introduction and opening discussion of the topic \n* Upper body tie and possibilities to move through it. \n* Hip harness and possibilities to use frictions for impacts. \n* Closing discussion \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/ demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie \nWhat to Bring: ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: both works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:The Promise of Identity
DESCRIPTION:The landscape of different sexual identities is vast and more and more white spots on the maps are discovered\, created\, and surveyed. \nAlthough it became easier to travel between different areas on that globe\, one operation remains unthinkable: Not to identify with a certain sexuality seems as rare and problematic as being nationless. \nIn a sense\, entering an area of a specific sexual identity demands from us the enunciation of a promise. To identify\, after all\, can be seen as an orientation in a certain direction or to submit to certain rules of that identity. \nIs there a way to identify without a promise? How would that look like and ‘where’ would that be? \nThis is not necessarily a workshop but an exploration. After establishing a toolkit of the identity surveyor\, we will go together on a journey to find out if there can be a land that does not require a promise of entrance. In other words\, we will draw a map of sexual identities. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: December 12th\, 7-9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: exploratory workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Addie & Barkas: Floor Work Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nFloor work in rope bondage has become somewhat synonymous with terms like connection\, communication\, and eroticism. While these are certainly valid and enjoyable pursuits\, they are not the only options\, and questioning their meaning and application offers new ways of interacting with floor work as a concept. \nIn this two-part workshop\, Barkas and Addie deconstruct common terms and techniques associated with tying on the ground. This deconstruction does not mean the demolition of certain approaches to floor work\, but rather an expansion and investigation of possibilities. Floor work does not\, for example\, require participants to sit on the floor\, nor does it require proximity. \n  \nPart I: September 11th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nIn the first part\, we will introduce a few concepts as well as techniques and patterns useful for tying on the ground. The concept and implementation of spatial awareness will play a crucial role. \n  \nPart II: September 18th\, 2021 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nPart two then expands on the concept of spatial awareness. With the help of some sequences\, we will explore timing\, subtlety\, balance\, and creativity. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 11th & 18th\, 2021\, 7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single and double column ties\, experience with floor work helpful but not necessary. \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 30 days \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event.
We strongly recommend participants only watch and participate in part II & III if they watched part I and only practice exercises from the latter parts if they have proficiency in the basic techniques. \n  \nPart III Floor & Air (May 25th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nRanboo on the floor is challenging due to various aspects. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 25th\, 2021\, 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. SUMMARY:Ranboo Style Part I: Introduction
We strongly recommend participants to watch the series in order and only \npractice exercises from the latter parts if they have proficiency in the basic techniques. \n  \nPart I Introduction (May 11th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nIn the introduction\, we will get to know the key terms of ranboo and get familiar with movement and techniques to safely tie in this style. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 11th\, 2021\, 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. \n  \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:The Promise of Identity – Maps of Identification
\nProgram: After a brief introduction of ideas\, Barkas takes a large\, empty map and together we will draw a world map of sexual identities with the aim of abolishing borders. The aim is to facilitate a lively discussion at the intersection of queer phenomenology\, politics\, heterotopology\, poetry\, and geometry. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 6 -7.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: exploratory workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Beyond the Interview III: Identity
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn this workshop series by Barkas & Addie\, the participants are invited to come along on a journey of interpretations. In the Interview Series\, we established that tying can be seen as a language in a broader sense. This workshop demonstrates the limits of our language as well as its unexpected possibilities. Since the borders of our world are the borders of our language\, we try and reach exactly those borders and see that\, in both ropes and language\, poetry awaits. \nIn three workshops we do exactly that: write poems with\, and read them through\, ropes. \n  \nPart III Identity (March 23rd\, 7-10pm CET)\nTo see and to be seen require recognition – of faces we already know\, of words we have heard before\, of patterns we remember. Who are we while we tie\, and (how) are we supposed to ask\nthis of ourselves? Can we create ourselves more consciously while we tie? This last part doesn’t give answers but asks questions about what we can get out of a rope bondage scene. \n  \nA familiarity with the interview metaphor is not required but helps for a better understanding. You can get access to the recordings of the Interview Metaphor Series here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 23rd\, 2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Curiosity! Double column tie. \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days \n  \nWhat else to know \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. You can purchase the entire series for a reduced price here.  \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Beyond the Interview – Kinbaku in Context Series

Since the borders of our world are the borders of our language\, we try and reach exactly those borders and see that\, in both ropes and language\, poetry awaits. \nIn three workshops we do exactly that: write poems with\, and read them through\, ropes. \nPart I: Temporality (March 9th\, 7-10pm CET)\nTo say something or to listen to someone takes time. What is time in the context of rope bondage? How can we use it to experience a rope scene with more awareness? In this first part\nwe decorate the duration of time within which we tie. \nPart II: Spatiality (March 16th\, 7-10pm CET)\nSaying something requires a location and listening to someone requires proximity. In the second part of this series\, we research the spatial contexts of rope bondage and decorate the space\nwithin which we tie. \nPart III Identity (March 23rd\, 7-10pm CET)\nTo see and to be seen require recognition – of faces we already know\, of words we have heard before\, of patterns we remember.
