SUMMARY:Robust as Fuck: The Nambu TK
DESCRIPTION:A robust\, resilient\, and versatile variation on a TK-type tie designed to load from front\, side\, or back\, and to sustain multiple transitions while keeping shape. This class will go into technical detail about building the structure including how to shift tensions away from some areas while applying the tie. We will also look at suspending and transitioning with it\, and tips and tricks for working with upper body ties in general. The class has a technical focus\, but will also look at techniques to move\, maneuver\, and engage your partner while tying. \nThe class will not have specific breaks to practice\, but material will be shown such that participants can tie along in segments. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  November 18th\, 2024\, 7 pm – 10 pm CET \nFormat: hands-on workshop & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: You should be able to tie a suspensionable TK-type upper body tie on the first try without major structural flaws. This harness positions the hands behind the back\, and while it can be adapted to a body harness (to be briefly discussed in class) the focus of the class is on the ‘original’ version with hands behind the back. \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand.  \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Magic Tricks for Excellent Rope Handling
DESCRIPTION:This class takes a deep dive into the minute details of what makes good tension\, clean placement\, even lines\, and smooth\, effortless rope movement. \nThese absolutely fundamental (and universally applicable) micro-techniques are difficult to pin down but magic once implemented\, and make the difference between good rope and excellent tying. We will look at how to use hands more effectively\, going into details like which fingers hold tension when\, how to flip or angle rope to prevent twists\, which angles to follow when throwing rope to clear it\, how to multi-task so that one hand can accomplish two (or three) tasks simultaneously. \nWe will break down how the person tying can maneuver their hands and body to tie even cuffs (thigh\, ankle) that stay in place\, or how to tweak those cuffs better suit the needs of a tie. We will also look at techniques to prevent finger and hand injuries for those who tie. These techniques are useful to anyone who ties\, no matter their style\, and all skill levels will find these techniques useful and productive. \nBeginners are especially invited to attend as it is easier to build good habits from the beginning. Solo attendance is also encouraged\, and techniques will be taught in such a way that they can be practiced on oneself. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 30th\, 2024\, 7 pm – 10 pm CET \nFormat: discussion & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: A single-column tie \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Technically A Suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nThere are a whole bunch of options for technically performing suspensions\, as in they get the person off the ground\, but maybe only for a moment\, or only a centimeter\, or partly supported on a body/furniture\, or using a pulley\, or making a rope hammock\, or only if the person in ropes flexes to lift off. \nThis is a class in opposition to the often high demands of suspension\, where the goal is to find ways to have the person in ropes not touch the ground without having to get too complicated\, strenuous\, physically demanding\, or pretentious about it. \nThis class also touches on accessibility – what are some ways of making a suspension that doesn’t require hand strength to hold and lock suspension lines? What about ways of adding extra supports for sore bodies\, or suspending without constricting certain areas? Bring questions and queries\, there will be space to lab special requests! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 14th\, 2024\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: an understanding of up-lines\, an understanding of what makes basic suspensionable body attachments (chest harness\, loops\, leg binder\, whatever)\, and a sense of humor and adventure \nWhat to Bring:  ropes\, if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the last live class for 14 days. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. SUMMARY:Addie & Barkas: Beyond – Challenging Rope Skills & Critical Thinking
DESCRIPTION:In this weekend workshop\, Barkas and Addie will be taking the participants on a journey that goes way beyond mere tying. In various sections\, we will be looking at the fine details of advanced rope techniques challenging ideas about tying and being tied as well as pushing participants beyond their usual skill set\, while encouraging new ways of thinking and using rope. \nThis workshop is directed at those who are already proficient in their tying and who are now looking at what to do with these skills and how to go beyond. It is also suitable for very skilled practitioners seeking to go into the advanced material of Addie & Barkas’ curriculum and way of approaching rope as a practice (which is not readily available to learn outside of private lessons at the moment). \nCome for the rope challenges and inspiration\, stay for the mind fuck. \nWant more info? Here is Barkas giving details: \n\n  \n  \nPlease note that participants need to apply for this workshop. An application includes a brief letter of intent (previous experiences\, previous teachers\, a reason for participating) and a brief video of their tying skills. That video should ideally show your advanced skills in tying and being tied. An application should include both partners\, i.e. letter of intent\, and the video should include both the person tying and the person in ropes. Switching absolutely welcome but for time reasons\, not every exercise can be done by both. Short-term changes of partners are possible with a check-in ahead of the workshop. Please send your application to info@karada-house.de \n  \nAdditionally\, you can book a private lesson here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 3 & 4\, 2024\, 11 am-6 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: masterclass \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: more than 3 years of structured and constant suspension experience\, familiar with static and dynamic suspensions\, advanced knowledge in techniques\, body handling\, safety\, able to adapt and improvise rope structures for different needs and bodies \nWhat to Bring: approx. 12 Ropes! SUMMARY:Taking Care of Your Body in Ropes & while Tying
DESCRIPTION:  \nRope can be so much fun. But if you do not take of yourself and your partner(s) things can turn to shit pretty quickly. Addie will also go into detail on how to stay safe(r)\, how to adapt to different needs and bodies and will round things up with a myriad of tips and tricks. \nThis is not a class. It’s a treasure trove for your and other people’s health and better bondage experiences. \n  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 10th & 17th\, 2024\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, standard frictions \nWhat to Bring:  ropes\, if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Ropes and Sex with Barkas & Addie
DESCRIPTION:  \nBarkas and Addie usually teach with the goal of separating the practice of rope from inherent expectations or assumptions of sexual contact. But that does not mean that they do not practice and enjoy sexual rope as well! \nThis 3-part-workshop-series will focus on rope techniques for sex and ideas on how to sexualize ropes. We will not only look at ways of queering approaches to rope and sex (however you define and practice it) but also engage in a deconstruction of sex\, sexuality\, intimacy\, and eroticism in the context of ropes. \nContent warning: this series is explicit. \n  \nPart I: DECONSTRUCTION\nJune 19th\, 2024\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \nPart II: ROPE BASICS FOR SEX LIKE EVERYONE IMAGINES SEX\nJune 26th\, 2024\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \nPart III: QUEERING SEX AND ROPE\nJuly 3rd\, 2024\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: June 19th & 26th\, July 3rd\, 2024\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie. SUMMARY:The Single Greatest Rope Exercise. Ever!
DESCRIPTION:  \nNot an exaggeration! If Addie could teach everyone\, regardless of level\, just one exercise it would be this one. If ropes were music this would be an etude\, an exercise that can be practiced in different ways\, with different emphases\, to develop different techniques and skills. It covers protecting finger joints\, nailing and maintaining tension\, preventing rope burn\, and body handling and movement while tying. And it results in a suspensionable harness\, if you are into that! \nPeople are welcome to switch\, come solo and find someone to tie with\, or come solo and practice on themselves. Not quite as effective but still worthwhile. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 5th\, 2024\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, standard frictions \nWhat to Bring:  ropes\, if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:In-Depth Gote Study
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis three-part deep dive deconstructs gote-type ties\, lifting out the individual elements and examining how and why they (inter)act as they do\, and how we can change them. The goal is not to prescribe ‘the fix’ for each situation but to offer avenues of inquiry and tools for fruitful experimentation. Please bring your gote-related questions and frustrations! \nTopics of interest and investigation include limb placements (hands front\, hands-free\, one arm)\, load directions (upright\, side\, face down\, transitions)\, body geometries (stiff/hypermobile/angry shoulders\, different body compositions\, tweaking where pressure sits) and other add-ons/modifications (swap out a set of bands for hojo cuffs or body wraps\, tie the hands in for shoulder support\, do something funky with the third rope). \nA portion of the first class will be dedicated to a rotator cuff-friendly way of bringing the arms behind the back in the gentlest and safest way possible\, and to some details around rope/body handling to fine-tune tensioning and placements. \nThe goal is not to teach more gotes but to play with the combination of micro-techniques and technologies that make up this common and often problematic style of body harness. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 20th\, 27th and April 3rd\, 2024\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, standard frictions\, you need to have some basic knowledge about tying gote type harnesses \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, your Self \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the last live class for 14 days. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. \n

SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. Despite this\, connection and communication as concepts are slippery to define\, tricky to exemplify\, and often tautological in explanation. Connection is not created by a set of actions\, by a particular pose\, by close proximity\, or by touch. It cannot be prescribed\, nor does it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, some techniques help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\, respond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and thus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. This Metaphor formed the basis of Barkas’ book\, Archeology of Personalities: A Linguistic Approach to Erotic Rope Bondage. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding in the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of concepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \n  \nPart I:\nPower and communication. We will discuss with the help of simple exercises how the terms power and communication can be understood in the context of rope bondage. It marks the emergence of the interview metaphor. \nPart II: \nGrammar and vocabulary of the interview. In this part\, we will see how much we can borrow from the realm of verbal communication and how we can implement concepts such as interruption or punctuation in order to have more meaningful scenes. This is about different interview styles. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. This final part deals with the less obvious corners of nonverbal communication and we will be looking at the interview from the perspective of music\, architecture\, and poetry. \n  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 10th 17th & 24th\, 2024\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class and will remain available for 14 days after the end of the entire series. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Poetics of Rope Bondage
DESCRIPTION:  \nPoetics of rope bondage takes the participants on a journey through the contexts of tying and how we can use them to improve our tying as well as our understanding of tying. In a narrative\, specifically created by Barkas for a new pedagogy of rope\, concepts like aesthetics\, patterns\, suspensions\, and floorwork are deconstructed through exercises that convey ideas rather than recipes. \n  \nContents include: \n– “The city of Kinbaku” and why tourist attractions are distracting\n– Technology vs Science. Why it’s not the pattern’s fault if it’s boring\n– Textbooks vs poetry. Why you’ll never understand your partner. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 13th\, 2023\, 7 pm- 10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English with a lovely Austrian accent \nKnowledge level: single-column tie and basic understanding of some upper body ties \nWhat to bring: ropes if you want to tie along \nSolo or partnered: all constellations welcome\, everyone needs to buy a ticket \nClass recording: yes\, will be available for 14 days to the participants of the conference \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Ranboo Style Series
DESCRIPTION:Ranboo\, literally translated means stormy\, overwhelming\, wild. \nAbout 10 years ago\, Barkas developed Ranboo as a way of rejecting a static and often seemingly boring practice of rope bondage. A wild dance while tying with each other is the result.\nRanboo is characterized by a large amplitude of variation of distance\, speed\, and intensity\, paired with an element of surprise. It is not a set of patterns or a “visual goal” but a way of interacting\nwith your partner(s) through rope\, a specific interview type\, if you want. \nIn this 3-parts workshop series\, Barkas and Addie will accompany the participants through the principles\, applications\, and variations of Ranboo\, while keeping a strong focus on safety. \nDisclaimer: The highly dynamic nature of ranboo comes with the potential of greater risk for injuries. We strongly recommend participants watch the series in order and only \npractice exercises from the latter parts if they are proficient in the basic techniques. \n  \nPart I Introduction (October 4\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET) \nIn the introduction\, we will get to know the key terms of ranboo and get familiar with movement and techniques to safely tie in this style. \n  \nPart II Next Level (October 11\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET) \nWe increase the pace and variation of distance and apply the principles learned in Part I to some standard patterns. \n  \nPart III Floor & Air (October 18\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET) \nRanboo on the floor is challenging due to various aspects. In this part\, we use these challenges to further familiarize participants with the concepts developed in the previous parts but on the floor. Some challenges of ranboo that appear on the floor are similar when we go into suspensions. Other challenges are added. We go through a suspension and see how ranboo affects the way we can tie in the air. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: October 4\, 11\, and 18\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. None of that is a threshold for participation in general and participants of all levels are welcome.\nWe strongly recommend not to tie along when you are not proficient in the underlying rope techniques. \nWhat to Bring:  ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along in Part III \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:WTF Suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nI wonder what would happen if I did……this?\nThe progression from pre-determined suspension sequences to freeform/multi-transition airtime is tricky to navigate and usually involves some trial and error. This advanced suspension class outlines ways to build “what does this do” knowledge while minimizing error. We will cover risk mitigation\, changing/reducing strain on the person in rope\, preparing safe escape routes\, and keeping the focus on positive/successful/fulfilling play. There’s also a hella fun game at the end. \nModel: Liff \n  \nFormat: Hands-on workshop \nMinimum knowledge level: Intermediate to Advanced Suspension. Person tying: comfortable and fluid tying suspension with transitions\, can untie/move/lock off an upline quickly (<15 seconds). Person tied: enough suspension experience to know how your body responds in different positions\, and to give feedback to the person tying. You do not have to be flexible\, uninjured\, or able to stay in the air for an extended period of time! The most important part is that tying partners need to be comfortable with each other\, willing to support each other\, and work together with goodwill and kindness. I will take less experienced but supportive over more experienced and competitive any day! \nMaximum amount of participants: 6 pairs\, passive watching is welcome. \nWhat to bring: Ropes\, suspension gear. Probably tights for people being tied. \nConstellations: partnered\, groups \nAccessibility: This class requires suspension\, so all parties need to be comfortable in the air. There is no need to spend a long period of time in the same position\, or even to have hands tied behind the back\, though an upper body harness that takes strain in multiple different directions is best.

SUMMARY:Safety In Ropes & Community
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis class will focus on the experiences of those who like to be tied\, particularly on developing an understanding of what we like/need/want in ropes\, how we can explore safely and positively\, and what options and resources we have to influence and contribute to our environment in healthy and fulfilling ways. We will look at a combination of physical and emotional factors when being tied\, as well as social/political dynamics that affect and inform the spaces in which we practice ropes. The content will be mostly lecture-based with a couple of activities. No partners needed\, and all welcome regardless of tying/tied/switch orientation. \nModel: Liff \n  \nFormat: lecture\, talk & discussion \nMinimum knowledge level: all levels. \nMaximum amount of participants: No\, passive watching is welcome. \nWhat to bring: – \nConstellations: solo\, partnered\, groups \nAccessibility: we will be sitting on the floor but other ways to sit more comfortably can be arranged

SUMMARY:The Single Greatest Rope Exercise Ever
\nModel: Liff \n  \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nMinimum knowledge level: single-column tie \nMaximum amount of participants: 15 pairs\, passive watching is welcome. Please participate and be present. \nWhat to bring: – \nConstellations: partnered\, groups \nAccessibility: we will be sitting on the floor but other ways to sit more comfortably can be arranged

SUMMARY:The Politics of Kink – Kink is Political!
DESCRIPTION:This exploration takes the participation on a journey behind the scenes of “the scene”. We will ask ourselves what it could mean that something seemingly so private could possibly be thought of as political. And in asking that\, we will find out that if we study certain practices from a historical perspective\, we automatically show that they are constructed. The histories of kinky practices act\, then not as a tool for their justification\, but rather to discover their uses as political agents. This workshop is about the politics of kink and the kinks of politics; it is a tour through kink as deviance\, through kink as oppression and liberation alike. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 30th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nPrice: 25 Euros \nTicket: price is per person \nRecording: This session is not recorded \n  \nWhat we will discuss: \n. Possible histories of kink\n. Deconstruction of terminologies\n. What is political? What is power?\n. Kink is political – now what? Possibilities.\n. Discussion with us \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.

SUMMARY:Magic Tricks for Excellent Rope Handling
DESCRIPTION:This class will look at hand and finger multitasking techniques to move rope smoothly and efficiently\, saving the tying person’s fingers and the person in rope’s skin\, while increasing control\, contact\, and connection between tying partners. The class will provide several exercises to be used long-term to develop skills and build muscle memory\, thus leaving more brain space free to focus on one’s partner. These techniques apply to any style\, tie\, and skill level. Learning good handling early in your rope career is a fantastic step\, and seasoned rope enthusiasts can add efficiency and subtlety to their tying. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 29th\, 2023\, 7-9 pm \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum knowledge level: single-column tie \nSolo or partnered: Both. Switching welcome (though I will not leave double time for exercises so people will need to sort timing out for themselves.) If people want to attend solo they can – the techniques work best on another body but the base can be practiced on oneself. \nPrice: 25 Euros \nTicket: price is per person \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:Why do Suspensions?
DESCRIPTION:  \nTo suspend the other with ropes can offer a huge variety of different experiences at once. It can bring the person in ropes into a completely different state at best and be a stressful and harmful experience at worst. The attraction of suspension rope work presents itself in many ways and it is obvious that suspending your partner requires a good understanding of the rope techniques. \nThis workshop does not teach yet another pattern or position in the air but explores the whys of suspending as well as the meta aspects of being “in the air”. In a handful of exercises\, we take a look at why we might want to suspend in the first place\, how we can change the story arches prescribed into suspensions\, as well as how we can use suspensions to communicate with each other more consciously. \nThis workshop is geared towards those who think about starting to suspend as well as those who already have suspension experience but want to look at the practice from another perspective. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 5th\, 2023\,  7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring:  – \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Non Verbal Communication for Rope
DESCRIPTION:  \nOne cannot not communicate. The smallest hand movements\, facial expressions\, body positions\, and whatnot are adding to a patchwork of communication that is constantly at work between the tied and the tying person. A lot of that is happening subconsciously and we will never be able to mean literally everything we do. But we can make an effort. In this workshop\, we explore the little details of body language that are spoken during a Kinbaku scene. We specifically look at the person tying and what they are doing in terms of hands\, face\, position\, and timing. \nPrerequisites: A strong interest in tying is enough. Although we will tie more or less complicated patterns\, those are not the focus. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 28th\, 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring:  – \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n\nWhat is nonverbal communication?\nHow can we become more aware of the space around and between us?\nTiming is everything. What are the proper moments of doing something?\nThe attitude of tying. How can we align what we are tying with how we are tying it?\nFeedback loops. “I know that you know that I know that you know…”\n\n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Series with Addie – Hishi Harnesses are Forever
DESCRIPTION:We continue our Tech-Dump series with a deep dive into hishis. The diamond pattern is not only one of the staples of Japanese-inspired rope bondage but also one of the most versatile patterns. Addie will take a long and nerdy look at several hishi-based harnesses\, including a hands-free option. \nThe series will include a full-body hishi harness\, a split line hishi harness\, and the infamous Nambu TK which is great for transitions and can be pulled from multiple points. \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \n  \nTech Dump Part I: Intro to Hishis and first patterns (May 31st\, 2023\,  7-10 pm CET) \nTech Dump Part II: Diving deeper into more complex patterns & harnesses (June 14th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET)  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 31st & June 14th\, 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will be tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge is necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single-column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to the best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. SUMMARY:Shame – A Different Approach
DESCRIPTION:  \nShame\, for many\, is a constant shadow\, a companion that seems to hold the power for great pain as well as for great pleasure. Shame is also used in a vast discourse of understanding cultural differences and even to describe entire societies. And shame is often treated like yet another mere tool for kink play\, like an object or even a fetish. \nIn this workshop\, Barkas and Addie deconstruct the various concepts of shame and “recycle” them for rope bondage. With a new understanding of the terminology\, we will take shame and use it to approach intimacy and identity a little bit differently. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 17th\, 2023\,  7pm-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat we teach: \n* shame – guilt; what’s the difference if there is one?\n* The two poles of shame; the directionality of shame.\n* Uncovering and covering; how etymology can be used in a rope scene.\n* Put in place; the position of shame.\n* Shame in Yukimura Ryu.\n* Who is ashamed?; the connection between shame and identity.\n* Shameless; being ashamed of shame and how to play with that.\n* Discussion \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. \nIf you cannot afford the ticket price (even the solidarity price)\, please send us a message. We will find a way. \n

SUMMARY:Tech Dump Series with Addie – Shapes\, Shapes\, Shapes!
DESCRIPTION:The “Shapes\, Shapes\, Shapes!” tech dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. For those newer to suspension\, each can be performed as a partial or full static suspension\, coming back out of the suspension by reversing the steps taken to get there. For those with more experience\, there will be options for additions or transitions\, before coming out either by reversing steps or continuing through to a different endpoint. The focus here is on sustainability\, balance\, and adaptation to suit and support the person in rope. \nEach piece of the tie must be well placed so that no one point is taking an undue amount of strain\, and the person tying must choose when to start moving out of the tie such that the person in ropes is in long enough\, but not too long. This creates sustainable suspensions and lets the tied person trust the tie and focus on the experience. We will look at balance points\, planning ahead\, and gauging when to come out so as to maximize the effectiveness of the tie. We will also discuss workarounds for more common body quirks\, self-checks\, and body knowledge for the people being tied. \n  \nTech Dump Part I: Running Person (March 15th\, 7-10 pm CET) \nLooks easy enough but nope. Finding a really good balance for this tie and making it sustainable is our goal. Also: fun variations. \nTech Dump Part II: Gyaku Ebi (March 22\, 7-10 pm CET)  \nGyaku Ebi’s are risky as they have a high nerve impingement risk. This class will teach some safe(r) versions and variations like futomomos. We will also look at a face-down suspension over a crotch line\, which can work like a gyaku ebi. \nTech Dump Part III: Upside-down suspensions (March 29th\, 7-10 pm CET) \nSomehow upside-down suspensions are really popular and often they don’t go as planned. Time to lab und understand in depth what is really going on. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  March 15\,22\,29\, 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part III: Side Suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part III: Full Suspension – Side Suspension (December 28th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part II: Uplines\, Partial Suspensions
This does not mean that the suspension is less strenuous or less risky\, though it does generally mean that the person in rope is close enough to the ground to be brought out relatively quickly. This session focuses on safety\, planning\, body mechanics\, and uplines. We will look at the pros and cons to different upline options\, speed/access/reliability\, and quick/smooth handling of both the rope and of the person in rope. We will examine balancing the body in the air vs the contact to the floor\, and signs that we have found the ‘right’ height. We also look at bringing people out of suspension smoothly and quickly\, communication and risk evaluation between tying partners\, and self-monitoring for those being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 21st\,  2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience.
