DESCRIPTION:Have you become interested in trying out Japanese-inspired rope bondage? Then join us for a weekend-long deep dive into this fascinating practice. \nTogether we will explore the vastness of rope bondage. We will talk about its history and development\, about the reasons why people like to tie and be tied. We will experience rope on our skin\, first knots and little patterns but also its beauty\, its sensual feeling\, and its techniques. We will also cover safety\, anatomy\, and why on a physical and emotional level tying and being tied can have such a tremendous impact on people. \nCome for curiosity\, get all the info\, stay for the fun\, and play part. You can come alone or partnered\, you can tie on yourself or other people. DESCRIPTION:  \nIT’S ROPE JAM TIME! \nRope Jams are spaces to meet people who love to tie or be tied (or both) and/or bring your tying partner(s) to have a wonderful session together in a space with like-minded people. \nAll roles\, levels\, styles\, etc. are welcome. \nIn the last hour of the jam\, we will lower the lights and music and make it cozy. \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo and rings provided. \nIn the summer: the silent garden (you can tie in the garden in the summer breeze but we keep noise levels low in this area. \n  \nHow it works \nThe door opens at 7:00 pm and stays open until 9:00 pm (sharp). \nYou will need to purchase a ticket upfront as space is limited.  \nAt 7:30 pm we will give an introduction to people who are new to the space and/or new to the jam (format). \nYou can then choose your space to tie (we offer bamboo\, ring\, and spaces for floorwork). The spaces have yoga mats and cushions. \nIn the last hour\, we lower the lights and offer a gong bath for a slower\, more intimate session end. \n  \nWhat to bring \nAll ropes\, gear\, safety cutter\, carabiners\, etc you need. \nWe have rings and bamboo but you can also bring your own. \nPlease bring a blanket or towel to put on the yoga mats we provide. \n  \nWhat else to know \nThis rope jam is aimed at LGBTQIA+ & WOMÊN audiences. \nThis space is a no-photography space. \nThis is not a teaching space. \nThis space is a sober space. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. Despite this\, connection and communication as concepts are slippery to define\, tricky to exemplify\, and often tautological in explanation. Connection is not created by a set of actions\, by a particular pose\, by close proximity\, or by touch. It cannot be prescribed\, nor does it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, some techniques help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\, respond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and thus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. This Metaphor formed the basis of Barkas’ book\, Archeology of Personalities: A Linguistic Approach to Erotic Rope Bondage. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding in the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of concepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \n  \nPart I:\nPower and communication. We will discuss with the help of simple exercises how the terms power and communication can be understood in the context of rope bondage. It marks the emergence of the interview metaphor. \nPart II: \nGrammar and vocabulary of the interview. In this part\, we will see how much we can borrow from the realm of verbal communication and how we can implement concepts such as interruption or punctuation in order to have more meaningful scenes. This is about different interview styles. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training for Beginners: Using Levers
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Moving people & using levers in floor play \nMovement is an important part of rope bondage\, and finding fluidity in it can revolutionize your play. This open training will focus on how to move people smoothly to the floor and up\, and how to move people around without breaking a sweat using levers.  \nTeacher of the week: Ceci Ferox \nCeci teaches bondage from top\, bottom and switch perspectives with the intention of creating safer spaces to communicate through rope. They focus on curiosity\, play\, fun and the courage to learn from failure. Ceci likes to deconstruct techniques and communication into their basic elements to understand them better.  \n  \nYou can come alone or with a partner. You can tie yourself or your partner. Alternatively\, you can partner up with another participant. \nYou can but do not need to bring any ropes as we will provide workshop ropes for you. \nYou can also spontaneously come by on the day and purchase a ticket online right up to the beginning of the class if there is space left. \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. DESCRIPTION:Are you tired of feeling like your body doesn’t fit the narrow imagery of bondage? So are we. This is a rope jam for people who dress in sizes 44 and up. \nBecause we want a space that celebrates the fact that not only can all of us tie and be tied\, but we look gorgeous doing it. And because we want a space where we can help each other and share knowledge specifically about tying fat bodies. In an environment where we are not the exception but the norm. \nCeci Ferox is available during the jam to help and give ideas. They have experience and knowledge in tying fat and heavy bodies both from inside and outside the ropes. \nIf you can buy clothes in normal clothes stores\, please make sure to give extra space for the experiences and voices of those with bigger bodies than yours. \n  \nWho is welcome? \nPeople who dress in sizes 44 or larger because smaller sizes do not fit their bodies. Let’s dive into how and why we engage with these relationships\, dynamics\, and styles of play\, and help you find an approach that meets your desires! \nFor some\, this is a fun roleplaying activity in the bedroom\, and for others\, there is a calling from deep within to make this a reality in everyday life. Time to allow yourself to get out of survival mode or chronic stress and come back (in)to yourself. \nCaritia will hold space for you for an entire weekend and help you to really slowly come back into your body and mind in a soft and focused way. Together\, we will press the stop button for a moment\, return to ourselves\, and refocus on our body\, our soul\, and our life. \nBut not only that. On the second day of the retreat\, we will allow emotions to be released and we will focus on your personal journey ahead. We will provide tests for you. \nIt’s that Christmas-shmistmas and for many of us this is a complicated time. That is why we are opening our house so you can come by\, relax and calm down amongst other queer people. There will be hammocks and little areas for cuddling and enjoying touch. Get or give massages. Or hang out in the kitchen with us and just chat. We will be offering a bunch of cakes and there will be coffee\, tea\, snacks\, etc. to nourish your bodies and souls. \nLight and slow kink interactions are welcome. So is nudity. Anything that allows you to come back in a soft and nice way. \nWhat does SLOW mean? It means calming things down\, doing them slowly and intentionally\, with consent and good boundaries in place. It means being in community with intention\, not just intensity. It means playing in a space that is semi-private with people to watch and people watching you. It means enjoying the energy of others being in the same space and seeking flow with each other across the room. \nWe are open and happy about what you bring as long you do not dominate the entire room with the noise\, space you need\, or vibe. DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. DESCRIPTION:  \nCeremonial cacao is a gentle connection and partnership facilitator. For some it’s the chocolate deva\, a divine goddess that visits you and opens your heart and allows your walls to gently get lowered\, allowing feelings to emerge. For others\, it’s the theobromine that pure cacao contains which gently changes the way you feel and connect to others. Either way\, ceremonial cacao has wonderful qualities that help you to open up\, relax\, and feel yourself and others in a different way. \nShibari can also be a wonderful facilitator of connection allowing you to let go and connect with your partner in many ways\, whether it’s on the floor or in the air\, dynamic like ichinawa (one-rope) practices or more static and contained. \nTogether we will indulge in a sensual\, warm\, and gentle evening of cacao & rope\, enhanced by the warm and safe environment of Karada House\, some essential oils\, and meditation. \nMamana will lead you through a small cacao ceremony.
