The Zoom session is live only\, not recorded\, so nobody but the participants who are present live will see you. \n— \nIT’S ROPE JAM TIME! \nRope Jams are spaces to meet people who love to tie or be tied (or both) and/or bring your tying partner(s) to have a wonderful session together in a space with like-minded people. \nAll roles\, levels\, styles\, etc. are welcome. \nIn the last hour of the jam\, we will lower the lights and music and make it cozy. \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo and rings provided. \nIn the summer: the silent garden (you can tie in the garden in the summer breeze but we keep noise levels low in this area. \n  \nHow it works \nThe door opens at 7:30 pm and stays open until 8:00 pm (sharp). \nYou will need to purchase a ticket upfront as space is limited if you do not have a Queerope ticket. \nAt 8:00 pm we will give an introduction to people who are new to the space and/or new to the jam (format). \nYou can then choose your space to tie (we offer bamboo\, ring\, and spaces for floorwork). The spaces have yoga mats and cushions. \nIn the last hour\, we lower the lights and offer a gong bath for a slower\, more intimate session end. \n  \nWhat to bring \nAll ropes\, gear\, safety cutter\, carabiners\, etc you need. \nWe have rings and bamboo but you can also bring your own. \nPlease bring a blanket or towel to put on the yoga mats we provide. \n  \nWhat else to know \nThis rope jam is aimed at LGBTQIA+ & WOMÊN audiences. \nThis is not a teaching space. \nThis space is a sober space. Please do not bring any substances to the spaces. \nNudity is welcome. \nBathrooms and showers are available. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. No problem. \nPlease join us right at 7:30 pm for an introduction to the space\, the jam itself\, and some advice as to how to navigate a jam and how to engage with people. \nIntroverted? No problem. \nJust send us a message beforehand and we will help you navigate the evening and find like-minded people to engage with. \nTotal newbie? No problem. \nCome\, join the crowd and have a drink. Get to know people and watch others tie and play. \nComing alone? No problem. \nWe always introduce people to each other at the introduction round at 7:30 pm\, so join us then to meet other people.

SUMMARY:Rope & Photography
DESCRIPTION:Photography stands as one of Shibari’s most influential art forms\, tracing its roots from the first black-and-white photographs in Japan’s Kitan Club magazine to the contemporary works of artists like Nobuyoshi Araki and Norio Sugiura. However\, it also serves as one of the most deceptive mediums for depicting Shibari\, often leading to misunderstandings and complications. Carefully selected perspectives create an illusion of flawlessness\, turning painful body positions into serene\, highly stylized elegance. Risky restraints\, primarily intended for visual impact\, sometimes find their way into actual tying sessions. Moreover\, standardized body types become the norm\, fostering the belief that adhering to an ideal physique is necessary for enjoying Shibari. \nIn the first segment of this class\, René de Sans and Sophia Rose will critically examine photography’s role in Shibari\, discussing various examples. Subsequently\, they will lead participants through a lively and interactive photo session\, where they become photographers themselves. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level:– \nWhat to Bring: – \nSolo or Partnered: any \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

Oil and hot water which can be heated up during the session. \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:TK for Everyone ?
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will start with picking some specific needs from the participants regarding difficulties with the TK. \nThrough Benoît’s technical knowledge and Noémie’s awareness of anatomy\, we will try to go through various tips and variations and harness buildings to give everyone the keys to create their own experiments and find adaptations and solutions. \nThe idea is also to give models the understanding of what would work better for them and to give people tying the tools to make it happen. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: discussion\, demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: These prerequisites will make the discussion easier to follow\, but are not absolute requirements\, as there will not be a real “hands-on” part in this workshop.\nFor people getting tied: having experience with TKs / gotes. Even better if they tried different types and have an idea about their preferences or difficulties.\nFor people tying : as I won’t go into TK basics\, it will be better if you have technical knowledge about one high-hands / stemless / V-shapes TK\, and one mid-hands / stemmed / T-shaped TK. \nWhat to Bring: Your partner and one or two ropes if you want to try some of the things during the workshop\, but in any case\, if you really want to profit from this class\, you’ll have to experiment on your own later. So\, mostly: a notebook and a pen\, or your favorite notes app. \nSolo or Partnered: partnered\, if you want to tie along\, any constellation for watching \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Open Rope Training for Beginners: Controlling & Restricting Movement
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Controlling & Restricting Movement \nRestriction is a big part of why we love rope bondage\, and there’s only so much you can do with tying harnesses on separate body parts. This open training teaches you how to attach limbs to harnesses and furniture. It’s also a great first step for starting to figure out suspension lines.  \nTeacher of the week: Caritia \n“Caritia’s style is an eclectic one\, blended as it is from 20+ years in kink and learning to tie (and getting tied) from a diverse range of Japanese and Northern European instructors. Twelve years on this path\, which has ebbed and flowed\, ‘I’m forever a curious student’. Focused on accessibility\, from pedagogy to diverse movement (stillness)\, specializing in the body\, floorwork\, partial suspensions\, and adaptive ties\, Caritia infuses (her) teachings with laughter as a key element of play.\nCaritia identifies as queer\, gender non-conforming\, black and the trickster vibes. Pronouns ‘Nah’” \n  \nYou can come alone or with a partner. You can tie yourself or your partner. Alternatively\, you can partner up with another participant. \nYou can but do not need to bring any ropes as we will provide workshop ropes for you. \nYou can also spontaneously come by on the day and purchase a ticket online right up to the beginning of the class if there is space left. \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. If you are not sure you can come\, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it. \nIf you know you will come to the open training more than just once\, please ask for our discount card! (For every 5 classes\, the 6th class is on us!) \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  every other Wednesday\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin) \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you have knowledge on the topics of rope safety\, consent\, and boundaries\, you have been to our “Rope for Absolute Beginners” class at  or have solid knowledge of single & double-column ties\, wrapping\, tension & counter tension \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, 1-3 of your own ropes (we can also provide ropes for you) \nSolo or Partnered:  solo\, partnered\, in a group (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros \n  \nWhat happens next? \nThe Open Rope Training for Beginners is an ongoing course designed to run approx. 8 months with constantly new topics. Within this ongoing course you can work on a lower as well as higher knowledge level. We really recommend not rushing things and really settling into coming to this open training on a long-term basis. If you feel like you are too advanced\, please talk to your teacher(s) about switching to the “Open Rope Training – Next Level” next. \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:Plastic Cocoons
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis self-tying/ self-suspension workshop explores alternative bondage narratives by integrating material/ plastic into the tie (dry plastic bags/waste). Carefully chosen ‘waste’ in terms of color\, size\, sensual texture\, and meaning. It probably needs a moment to enter a playful\, devoted relationship with this material and oneself. \nThe long-duration self-tie allows for taking pleasure in sensual resilience\, adapting to the plastic and its sounds. For the outside the scene gives space for questions: around the dynamic between un-/organic material\, consumption/printed bags or boxes\, or ‘expiry date’ of food packaging surrounding ‘bound flesh’. \nIn terms of rope technique\, we will work with (partial-) suspension on rings or on bamboo. Plus a supporting surface such as a thin bamboo\, a piece of plastic/wood to place the main weight on. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Intermediate level. Participants should be firm with suspendable column ties and a suspendable futomomo. If they want to suspend themself they need to be familiar with locking of uplines on themselves. Otherwise\, I suggest following along but staying on the ground\, or using safe half-suspension. \nWhat to Bring: 7-12 ropes. If you like to suspend and if available more than one suspension point. Plastic: white /colorful shopping plastic bags (like the ones for veggies from the market).\nDry food packaging from noodles/rice/veggies. Can also be handbags\, disposable raincoats that can rip\, and colorful garbage. It could also be many yoga mats or blankets\, some material you like to deal with. A bamboo\, wood\, or metal barre to sit on. Going out with a friend and picking some in the street (which is not too yucky) can be fun and a nice preparation.\nBasically many of the same\, and what is visually interesting for you. Some music if you like. For safety friend or phone\, and scissors. \nSolo or Partnered: solo but partnered would work\, too \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

For each sold supporter ticket we will add a solidarity ticket to the pot). \nSolidarity ticket: 100 Euros \nPay-it-Forward-Ticket: 150 Euros – You pay this ticket forward and a person who cannot afford a ticket will benefit from it and get access to the conference and the recordings on your behalf. —–> You can purchase a pay-it-forward ticket here. <—- \n  \nDay Pass \nGet a ticket for a single day of the conference for 50 Euros. \nGet your day pass here: Wednesday\, Thursday\, Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday \n  \nFAQ: \nHow do you define “LGBTQIA+” & “womên”? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, and agender. \nWomên describes people who identify themselves as female in their gender identity. People who fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that emphasizes that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \nI am not LGBTQIA+ and not a womên\, can I still attend? \nNo\, please respect that this particular event is not for you. There are lots of other events you can attend. But Queerope one is solely for people of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum & womên. \nI cannot afford the ticket but would love to join. What do I do? \nSend us a message via info@karada-house.de. If we have pay-it-forward tickets available we will make them available to you. If we don’t we will put you on a waiting list or see what else we can do. Either way\, we will find a way. \nWhat platform do you use for the virtual conference? \nWe need to use Zoom as it is the only platform available that is affordable and stable enough for bigger groups. Please make sure you can fulfill the requirements for Zoom from your side to have a satisfactory experience.  We will do our best to make the zoom calls safe by engaging all possible security features. You do not have to turn your camera on and you can use any name you like. \nThe times don’t always work for me / I cannot attend everything I want… \nThat is why we will make recordings available to you\, so you can watch & re-watch them within 30 days. \nIf I share my computer with a person\, is buying one ticket enough? \nNo. You are not paying for the computer access but for the knowledge that the facilitators and artists are distributing. Please respect that knowledge has worth and should be compensated. \nI am all alone at the moment and have no partner. Does it still make sense to participate? \nAbsolutely. There will be a variety of topics and skills and not all of them require a partner. You can learn a lot even just by listening and watching or trying things on yourself. We will also provide knowledge and possibilities for self-tying & suspension and other solo practices.
