SUMMARY:QUEEROPE BERLIN 2024

After our first in-person edition last year\, we listened to your feedback\, improved the concept\, and reduced the number of participants to provide an even better learning environment. \nHere is the programme. \n  \nline-up: \n– Andrea Rimon (USA) \n– Barkas & Emmy (Canada) \n– Ceci Ferox (Finland/Germany) \n– Bänana & Sixtine (France) \n– KissmedeadlyDoll & CuteButDeadly (USA) \n– Sophia Rose (UK) \n– René de Sans (Germany) \n– Yada Kinbaku (Thailand) \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 11-15\, 2024\, all-day \nFormat: Conference \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Womên \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: people tying must have at least a solid basic knowledge (single-column tie\, double-column tie\, tension\, frictions\, basic knots\, safety and anatomy) \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, items you need for your pleasure and convenience\, ropes and safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome\, come alone\, bring partner(s)\, best friends\, groups…\n \nPrice: 300 Euros per person for the entire fest (excludes food/accommodation). \nWe can accommodate paying in installments but the full price must be paid before the event begins. If you need this option\, please email us via info@karada-house.de \n  \nMore Details: \n-5-day fest\, 37 facilitated spaces/workshops\, spaces to do skillshares\, lab\, or just hang out \n-multiple rooms\, space for introverts and people with neurodivergence to retreat\, kitchen\, bathrooms\, a garden\, Berlin at the end of summer \n-LGBTQIA+ people & womên\, only \n-highly skilled facilitators will guide you\, share knowledge\, and hold space for you \n-we take it slow\, there is lots of space to just chill\, hang out\, tie for fun \n-we have limited space for people to sleep over for a small extra fee \n-we offer breakfast\, lunch\, and snacks all day for a small extra fee \n-free water\, tea\, ice for everyone\, lots of spaces to buy food\, we also have a kitchen \n-we aim to make the space accessible for all kinds of bodies\, the house is wheelchair accessible for the most part\, if you need other accommodation\, please let us know and we will make it happen \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nWe strongly encourage the wearing of FFP-2 masks but they are not mandatory. \nIt is obligatory to do a quick test every day before entering the conference space. We will provide these tests for you and have a dedicated area to do them in. \nThe indoor areas will be constantly aired and HEPA-14 filters will be running the entire time. We also have outdoor areas. \nWe will provide hand and surface disinfectant\, please make ample use of it. \nIf you are sick or feel like you start to get ill\, please do not come to the conference. \nAccessibility \nThe space is on the ground floor in the backyard of another building. It has three steps to enter the building. There is also a ramp available. The door frames have been widened to all for access with wheelchairs. The space has no high thresholds. There is an accessible bathroom and shower available. \nMany of the workshops will be on the floor on yoga mats but we also provide chairs and sofas for more comfortable seating. The chairs are sturdy and have no limiting armrests so they can be useful and comfortable for any body size. \nWe will provide one or more spaces to retreat to in case the conference becomes too overwhelming. A weighted blanket and noise-canceling headphones will be provided. The garden area will also be accessible at least in part (we are still building so this is not 100% clear yet). \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, and agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Rope Hangout
DESCRIPTION:  \nA rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. You can hang out\, have coffee\, tea\, or soft drinks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nNote: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n  \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: August 22nd\, 2024\, 7-10 pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both work\, this is peer learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as a participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. You ask for help from other participants and help others whenever needed\, especially in risky or emergency situations. There is at least one facilitator present for the entirety of the hangout. The role of the facilitator is to offer the space and be the contact person in case of safety concerns. The facilitator is a participant\, not a teacher. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend that you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. If you feel socially awkward\, like many of us do\, bring someone you trust with you\, or send us a message in advance so we can prepare to give you extra support. \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo\, and rings provided. \nIn the summer: the silent garden (you can tie in the garden in the summer breeze but we keep noise levels low in this area. \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available.
