SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds\, and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch\, and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink. Minimal experience folx. Highly experienced folx. Curious and interested in learning more about yourselves folx. People with neurodivergence and those without. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nConcepts/offers for discussion\n \n– meditation/intro \n–  what is neurodivergence? broad-spectrum \n– what to consider? intersectionality\, boundaries\, negotiation\, and care \n– language(s)\, perspective(s)\, intention(s) \n– opening to differences and the space that needs \n– formats will include self-reflection\, small groups\, big group \n– gentle embodiment practice throughout the 2.5 hours (including a short break) \n– open freeform space for free association (if it proves to be supportive of the group) \n– Feedback and close \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. SUMMARY:Cuddles\, Cakes and Kinks
DESCRIPTION:We are opening our new and wonderful house and garden for the afternoon so you can come by\, relax and calm down amongst other queer people. There will be hammocks and little areas for cuddling and enjoying touch. Get or gives massages. Touch grass (literally and metaphorically). Or hang out in the kitchen with us and just chat. We will be baking a bunch of cakes and there will be coffee\, tea\, snacks\, etc. to nourish your bodies and souls. \nLight and slow kink interactions are welcome. So is nudity. Anything that allows you to come back in a soft and nice way. \nWhat does SLOW mean? It means calming things down\, doing them slowly and intentionally\, with consent and good boundaries in place. It means being in community with intention\, not just intensity. It means playing in a space that is semi-private with people to watch and people watching you. It means enjoying the energy of others being in the same space and seeking flow with each other across the room. \nWe are open and happy about what you bring as long you do not dominate the entire room with the noise\, space you need\, or vibe. This is a shared experience so please read the room and give others space as well. \nDue to hygiene and/or high levels of trigger potential\, we do not allow: \n– blood\, pee\, scat play \n– knife play\, needle play \n– uniforms and/or role play that includes institutional power dynamics (i.e. school\, hospital etc.) \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo and rings provided. \nThe quiet garden (you can be in the garden in the summer breeze to get a break from the action inside). \n  \nHow it works \nThe door opens at 5:00 pm and stays open until 7:00 pm (sharp). \nYou will need to purchase a ticket upfront as space is limited.  \nAt 5:30 pm we will give an introduction to people who are new to the space and want to meet others. \nYou can then choose your space and mode (talk\, cuddle\, sleep\, eat cake\, light play) and enjoy yourselves. \nWhat to bring \nYourself and maybe things you like to share with others. \nPlease bring a blanket or towel to put on the yoga mats we provide. \n  \nWhat else to know \nThis jam is aimed at LGBTQIA+ audiences. \nThis space is a sober space. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training (Intermediate): Tying & Timing
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly intermediate open rope training is directed at building on what has been taught in the Beginner Open Rope Training. \nPlease note that the classes will be taught in different styles from this level onwards.  \nWe start the class intuitively by following individual impulses with rope. After that\, the main part of the evening we focus on the systematic management of rope\, body handling\, and safety principles: knots\, wrapping\, and aesthetic frictions. The material contains a wide range of harnesses for floor work and simple semi-suspension. It is strongly inspired by the shibari works of Japanese artists Dasniya learned from over the last fifteen years. There is time to switch roles to better understand restriction from both the perspectives of the person tying and the person getting tied so you can experience anything from sexy phantasies and meditative ties. \n  \nTopic of Exploration: TYING & TIMING \nRepeating Japanese inspired technique: futo momo\, gote and potentially semi-suspension\, we will look at different temporalities while tying. Considering the preparation time before a bondage ritual. Connecting individual rhythms of rope from slow binding to mid tempo or speed tying\, and also talking about ‘crip time’ constellations. How can experimenting with tempi\, rhythm and rope translate intimate desires into a groovy session? Or\, how can we embrace our anti-groove? \n  \nTeacher: Dasniya Sommer \nStyle: Dasniya’s basic rope style orientates strongly towards Japanese Kinbaku artists: Akira Naka and Kasumi Horai– whom she attended workshops with in Europe and Japan. Other inspirations are found in the work of Norio Sugiura\, and the legacy of Nureki Chimuo\, who can be considered the protagonists of this ‘school/their era’. The tying system is often considered to be an advanced technique. But with regular practice\, attention to detail\, and to safety an adapted version for European bodies and perspectives can be taught from scratch. It combines a mix of basic shapes\, improvising principles and it trains a sensitive intuition for consequent restriction. \nDasniya’s personal tying is also informed by her longtime dance training and Buddhist background. Rigging from the perspective of the moving body\, and mindful listening to impulses and resonance often create a meditative vibe to get high on ropes. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin) \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single-/double column tie\, basic frictions\, you need to be able to tie a box tie /TK\, simple up-lines \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, a set of 8 of your own ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  preferably partnered but you can also partner up in the class with other solo people or tie yourself (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros per person \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. SUMMARY:Oh\, Sweet Torment – A Predicament Rope Masterclass with Yada Kinbaku
DESCRIPTION:  \nOh\, Sweet Torment – A Predicament Rope Masterclass is all about Yada’s approach to predicaments in rope bondage. Yada balances delicately the best and worst of feelings and predicaments\, always making sure that sweet suffering and loving dominance interact intricately with safety and the feeling of being taken care of for the rope bottom. This class will take you from the floor into suspension and give multiple adaptations and possibilities of fucking around and finding out in the most beautiful and luscious ways. \n  \nBackground: \nYada Keawburee aka. Yada Kinbaku is a student of female Japanese kinbakushi Yoi Yoshida\, a shibari artist and sex educator from Bangkok\, Thailand. \nYada has been exploring Japanese rope bondage since 2015\, learning from her teacher Yoi Yoshida who is also known as “the mother of Kinbaku” in Japan. Yada’s style is an adaptation of Yoshida’s rope work which adapts to the individual needs of the person she is tying. Central to Yada Kinbaku’s philosophy is the belief that Kinbaku is a deeply communicative art form. For her\, the ropes are a means of exploring and expressing complex emotions and vulnerabilities in relationships. She views each tying session as a collaborative journey\, where the interaction between the person tying and the person being tied is paramount. In each session\, Yada strives to find and allow for the expression of deep fears\, emotions\, and desires. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 22nd\, 2024\, 1 pm – 6 pm (with lunch break in between) \nFormat: Workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: both person tying and being tied must be able to tie common patterns for suspension\, have good knowledge about uplines and how to be in suspension for some time. SUMMARY:Stillness – A Semenawa Masterclass with Yada Kinbaku
DESCRIPTION:  \nStillness – A Semenawa Masterclass is all about Yada’s approach to semenawa which draws richly from the the quiet within that precedes the possibilities of letting go\, letting loose\, allowing for release. Yada will show gentle and forceful approaches\, starting on the floor and going into suspension while also sharing her personal philosophy which is deeply influenced by East to South East Asian ideas of body\, mind\, love and suffering. \n  \nBackground: \nYada Keawburee aka. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. SUMMARY:Second law of thermodynamics
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis workshop is all about embracing entropy\, aka chaos\, in your tying. We will figure out the essential structures\, only to take them apart and break the rules. The goal is to find new kinds of creativity in tying (with the risk of failing spectacularly). Ceci will guide you through the process with clear drills that give your chaos a framework. You can take your creations up in the air or keep them firmly on the ground. \nPartner: Emory \n  \nFormat: research lab \nMinimum knowledge level: You have experience in tying and being tied in structured harnesses and know how to assess for risks in ropes. If you plan to suspend\, you need to be fluent with your suspension lines – they should flow out of your hands without thinking. If you plan to be suspended\, you need to be able to handle your body in a way that keeps you safe (enough). \nMaximum amount of participants: as many as fit \nWhat to bring: At least 10 ropes (depending on what your body needs)\, safety equipment \nConstellations: all constellations welcome \nAccessibility: any accessibility needs can be incorporated into the chaos

SUMMARY:Rope is Political: Bound Together: The Politics of Rope and LGBTQ+ Liberation
DESCRIPTION:  \nRope is Political is a series of discussions held during the Queerope Berlin 2024 conference.  \n“As a Shibari artist and political activist from Thailand\, I view rope bondage not just as an art form or bondage but as a powerful tool for education\, empowerment\, and liberation. \nIn a society where rigid cultural norms often silence marginalized voices\, particularly those of women and LGBTQ+ individuals\, I use rope to educate\, challenge\, and transform.\nIn Thai culture\, where traditional roles are deeply entrenched\, LGBTQ+ individuals often face significant challenges in asserting their identities. Despite progress in some areas\, true understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ+ identities remain limited. Education plays a crucial role in breaking down these barriers\, and rope bondage can be a part of that educational journey. \nBy engaging in shibari\, we educate ourselves and others about the complexities of identity\, consent\, and the power dynamics that permeate our lives. Rope bondage offers a unique educational experience\, one that transcends conventional learning. It teaches us about the importance of trust\, communication\, and vulnerability. In a world that often prioritizes strength and stoicism\, shibari encourages us to explore the power in vulnerability\, to understand our own boundaries and those of others\, and to learn the art of non-verbal communication. These lessons are particularly valuable for the LGBTQ+ community\, where the journey to self-acceptance and mutual understanding can be fraught with challenges. \nEconomically\, LGBTQ+ individuals in Thailand\, especially those from marginalized backgrounds\, often face additional hurdles\, including job discrimination and lack of access to quality education. By incorporating rope bondage into educational and activist spaces\, we can create opportunities for LGBTQ+ individuals to learn about themselves and their communities in ways that are empowering and transformative. This form of education is not limited to formal settings; it happens in workshops\, community gatherings\, and intimate spaces where we can explore our identities and connect with others who share our experiences. \nIn my work as an educator and activist\, I use Shibari to foster dialogue and understanding. I believe that through education\, we can challenge the cultural and economic structures that oppress us. By teaching and practicing rope bondage\, we create spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals can explore their identities\, express their desires\, and reclaim their autonomy. These spaces are vital for building resilience and solidarity within our communities. \nRope is political because it intersects with education\, empowerment\, and the fight for equality. For the LGBTQ+ community\, Shibari offers a way to educate ourselves and others about the realities of our lives\, to resist the forces that seek to define and confine us\, and to imagine new possibilities for our future. \nThrough rope\, we learn that our bodies\, our identities\, and our stories are our own to tell\, and that in sharing them\, we can create a world where everyone is free to live their truth.” \n  \n-Yada \n  \nFormat: discussion \nMinimum knowledge level: – \nparticipants: as many as fit \nWhat to bring: pen & paper \nConstellations: all constellations welcome \nAccessibility: we’ll be sitting on the floor\, adaptations can be made \n

SUMMARY:Fundamentals 4: Feedback\, Iteration\, Performance
DESCRIPTION:  \nFundamentals is a series within the Queerope Berlin 2024 conference that goes back to the basics and way beyond. Andrea Rimon will re-define what the fundamentals of rope are and offer classes suited for beginners as well as anyone who wants to go back to a beginner mindset and/or approach the beginnings again in a completely new way. \nWhat does it mean to think of tying fundamentals outside of just learning frictions\, patterns\, and general BDSM social mores? This class series will be an exploration of what it means to build a queer trying practice that takes less for granted. Drawing on techniques taken from physical theater\, dance\, contact improvisation\, and other movement arts\, we will think deeply about what it means to think of tying not just as a sexual practice\, but as a form of collectively devised experience with ties to art\, politics\, and the rest of life. \nIn this class\, we’ll talk about the value of debriefing after scenes and the pedagogical uses of public performance. We’ll take a look at a few different kinds of debriefing discussions and have an at length discussion of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process. From there\, participants will have the opportunity to perform and workshop scenes\, iterating along the way. Material workshopped can come from previous Fundamentals sessions\, other material from Queerope\, or something else altogether. \nPartner: Layal \n  \nFormat: workshop\, discussion \nMinimum knowledge level: – \nparticipants: 8 \nWhat to bring: ropes\, pen and paper \nConstellations: all constellations welcome \nAccessibility: classes will have a significant portion of discussion\, so we are switching from being on the floor to occasionally standing \n
