SUMMARY:Potato Sacks & Body Handling
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is heavy. It’s passive\, it’s hard to move and hard to lift. This is a workshop for fat bottoms. We take up space\, we give the ropes our full weight\, we stop minimizing ourself\, and we become potato sacks. Ceci will guide you in letting go and finding freedom. Technically we will explore how to give weight\, what passivity means\, and how being heavy can actually help movement and suspension. \nPartner: tba. \n  \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nMinimum knowledge level: You need to bring a person who can tie you in semi-suspension or suspension. You are able to communicate boundaries. You have some understanding of how your body functions in movement and can avoid injury through modifications and/or communication. \nMaximum amount of participants: as many as fit the space \nWhat to bring: A rope top who is able to do at least semi-suspension. Enough ropes to tie a couple of harnesses and uplines. \nConstellations: partnered\nPassive watching is allowed \nAccessibility: We will move around on the floor and it is not safe to do passive play standing up. You might end up moving around on your knees without realizing you’re doing it\, so maybe bring knee pads if it’s helpful.

SUMMARY:Thick Hitches Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:  \nWelcome to THICK HITCHES\, you awesome fat bitches! \nTHICK HITCHES is a 3-day in-person rope conference with the emphasis on people and bodies who identify as fat. We focus mostly on Japanese-inspired rope bondage in all its forms: tying each other\, self-tying\, floor work\, and suspension funsies. This is a space where fat is the norm\, we celebrate our super powers\, and agitate for the change we want in rope communities. \nWe open this invitation to self-identified fat people and their tying partners (of any size). We welcome all roles (rigger/tops\, model/bottoms\, switches\, etc.)\, all knowledge levels (beginner\, intermediate\, advanced)\, and all tying styles to this gathering that aims to bring practitioners who identify as fat together to celebrate their love for rope and exchange knowledge and experiences. \nClick here for viewing the full program \nline-up: \n– Ceci Ferox (Finland/Germany) \n– Ginger (UK) \n– Mouse (UK) \n– Queerbaku (France) \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time:  May 23-25\, 2025\, all-day \nFormat: Conference \nAudience:  Fat People and their partners \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: people tying must have at least a solid basic knowledge (single-column tie\, double-column tie\, tension\, frictions\, basic knots\, safety and anatomy) \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, items you need for your pleasure and convenience\, ropes and safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome\, come alone\, bring partner(s)\, best friends\, groups…\n \nPrice: 200 Euros per person for the entire fest (excludes food/accommodation). \nWe can accommodate paying in installments but the full price must be paid before the event begins. We will provide these tests for you and have a dedicated area to do them in. \nThe indoor areas will be constantly aired and HEPA-14 filters will be running the entire time. We also have outdoor areas. \nWe will provide hand and surface disinfectant\, please make ample use of it. \nIf you are sick or feel like you start to get ill\, please do not come to the conference. \nAccessibility\nThe space is on the ground floor in the backyard of another building. The chairs are sturdy and have no limiting armrests so they can be useful and comfortable for any body size. \nWe will provide one or more spaces to retreat to in case the conference becomes too overwhelming. A weighted blanket and noise-canceling headphones will be provided. The garden area will also be accessible at least in part (we are still building so this is not 100% clear yet). \n  \nWho is this event for?\nFat-identifying people and their partners (who do not need to be fat themselves). \nThis space is centering folx who experience institutionalized fatphobia. If you’re unsure as to whether or not this applies to you\, please consider: \nDo you experience fatphobia in kink spaces?\nCan you purchase clothing in ‘straight size’ shops?\nDo you experience fatphobia in medical settings? \nIf you’d like further guidance\, reach out. We’re happy to help! \n  \nWhat else to know\nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Playfight & Rough Body Play Lab
DESCRIPTION:Use your body in a vastly different way. Restricted\, restrained\, maybe even tamed – our bodies are subdued to very strict rules and movements in our daily lives. Time to get primal and rough. Rough body play allows for more fighting\, emotions\, and a deeper exploration of power dynamics than play fights. \nOnce a month we open Karada House for 2 hours of randori (free fights) time to try your new skills and have fun. Our amazing instructor Montse will guide through \n• warm-up exercises \n• consent & safety \n• dos & don’ts \nAfter that – fight! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  every third Wednesday of the month\, 7-9pm \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Womên \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you need to know your body\, its boundaries\, and needs in terms of health and safety \nWhat to Bring: comfortable\, sport clothes that are more tight fitting if possible \nSolo or Partnered:  solo\, partnered\, in a group (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. The space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. Adaptations for physical needs will be shown and can also be provided upon request. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand.  \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Radical Care Club – Peer Support Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Radical Care Club is an open peer support meeting at Karada House. The club is for TLGBQIA+/queer people. Meeting topics for each evening are decided by the group. We will talk about things like: \n– Figuring out your gender and/or sexual identity\, or finding support and resources around those topics\n– How to deal with and take agency in the current political situation locally and globally\n– Support for and advice on handling microagressions and phobic behavior (for example with relatives\, in the work place\, and with government agencies)\n– Being seen\, heard\, validated\, and celebrated for who you are and how you feel \nTopics can be discussed in the whole group or we can divide into pairs/trios to get more speaking time. \n  \nHow it works\n1. Opening circle\, 20 min\n– Code of conduct\n– Round: Name\, pronouns\, how are you feeling\n– Do you have a topic you would like to bring in for conversation? This can be a broader topic like how to handle something political going on\, or it can be specific to you like needing advice or validation on something. \n2. Deciding on a topic(s) for the meeting\, 5-10 min\n– We choose together what we want to discuss. If it’s a big topic\, we will only have time for one. If there’s multiple small topics we can cover 2-3.\n– If the need is to be heard: share in the big group. Others offer validation and empathy.\n– If the need is advice: share in the big group\, then we divide into pairs or trios to think about what can be done (and share similar experiences).\n– If the need is political venting: introduce the topic in the big group\, then divide into pairs or trios to talk about how we feel and find ways of having more agency (even in small ways) \n3. Dividing into pairs/trios for peer support\, sharing\, hearing\, and brainstorming OR staying in the big group for some or all of the time\, 60 min \n4. Round of sharing all together on what came up in the small groups or to summarize conversation in the big group\, 10-20 min \n5. Thank you & goodbye\, 10 min \n  \nWhat else to know\nThis event is aimed at LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS audiences. \nThis is a peer support meeting\, not group therapy. Facilitators do however have experience in first aid for trauma triggers. \nThis is a sober space. Please do not bring any substances to the spaces. \n  \nAccessibility Note\nThe space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training for Beginners: Elements of Connection & Communication
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Elements of Connection & Communication \nConnection and communication in rope bondage isn’t rocket science\, but built on very concrete skills and concepts. Join this open training to learn about how to use rhythm\, proximity and intensity for impactful rope play. \n  \nTeacher of the week: Renée de Sans \nRenés teaching approach is strongly influenced by her belief that in order to understand how to tie\, one should not forget the person that one ties with. She does not follow a certain technical school of tying and is constantly searching for a deeper understanding of how to move somebody physically and emotionally through the use of ropes. \n  \nYou can come alone or with a partner. You can tie yourself or your partner. Alternatively\, you can partner up with another participant. \nYou can but do not need to bring any ropes as we will provide workshop ropes for you. \nYou can also spontaneously come by on the day and purchase a ticket online right up to the beginning of the class if there is space left. \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. If you are not sure you can come\, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it. \nIf you know you will come to the open training more than just once\, please ask for our discount card! SUMMARY:Ropes and Sex with Barkas & Addie
DESCRIPTION:  \nBarkas and Addie usually teach with the goal of separating the practice of rope from inherent expectations or assumptions of sexual contact. But that does not mean that they do not practice and enjoy sexual rope as well! \nThis 3-part-workshop-series will focus on rope techniques for sex and ideas on how to sexualize ropes. We will not only look at ways of queering approaches to rope and sex (however you define and practice it) but also engage in a deconstruction of sex\, sexuality\, intimacy\, and eroticism in the context of ropes. \nContent warning: this series is explicit. \n  \nPart I: DECONSTRUCTION\nMay 14th\, 2025\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \nPart II: ROPE BASICS FOR SEX LIKE EVERYONE IMAGINES SEX\nMay 21st\, 2025\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \nPart III: QUEERING SEX AND ROPE\nMay 28th\, 2025\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \n  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: May 14th & 21st\, & 28th\, 2025\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. SUMMARY:Rope Hangout: tying to furniture and objects
DESCRIPTION:A rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. You can hang out\, have coffee\, tea\, or soft drinks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nThis time we will focus especially on: Tying to furniture and objects\nThe things you research\, share\, and explore at rope hangout don’t have to be on topic\, it’s merely a source of inspiration. \nNote: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n  \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: May 14th\, 2025\, 7-10 pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both work\, this is peer learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as a participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend that you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. SUMMARY:Rope Predicament Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nReady to willingly dip your toes into challenge\, anticipation and dilemma? This series will introduce you to two very different styles of predicaments taught by the queen of fun assholery herself: Sophia Rose. \nPart I: Playful Predicaments (May 13th\, 2025\, 7-9pm) \nPlayful predicaments are designed to keep one guessing (and choosing) in frustratingly fun ways. Using rope and other kinky tools\, simple concepts of predicament play will be explained and demonstrated along with more complex scenarios to inspire your own creativity as well as exploring predicaments that focus on pain or discomfort\, we will also look at ideas which play with exposure\, balance\, and pleasure – predicaments for different moods. \nPart II: WTF was that: (not so) playful predicaments… (May 29th\, 2025\, 7-9pm) \nReady to take predicament play to the next level? This session moves beyond playful discomfort to explore the more bizarre\, creative\, and the downright “WTF is that?!”. We’ll explore the risks\, rewards\, and thrill of edgier predicament play\, with three demonstrations for inspiration and adaptation that utilise a suspension point and dungeon furniture. \nWhat we’ll cover:\n– Exploring and creating more intense\, edge-play predicaments (breath control/choking).\n– Demonstrations of bamboo on the body ties\, and fear/pain dynamics.\n– How to safely adapt challenging ideas to suit your skills and partners. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 13th & May 29th\, 2025\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single-column ties\, double-column ties\, basic frictions\, and confidence handling rope. Understanding of negotiation/consent practices that work for you in your dynamic for this kind of play. Sophia may demonstrate some ideas using a hard point – but most of this class will explore floor-based ideas. \nWhat to Bring: \n4 or more lengths of rope\nAny kind of clamps (chopsticks/clover clamps)\nAnything weighted (to add to clamps)\nChains/collars\nHoods/blindfolds (makes it harder to balance/perceive surroundings)\nSmall bamboo/baseball bat also works\n \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome (everyone needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Open Rope Training (Intermediate): Side suspension
DESCRIPTION:This monthly intermediate open rope training is directed at building on what has been taught in the Beginner Open Rope Training. \nTopic of Exploration: Side suspension \nIn this open rope training we will explore how to create a side suspension. This shape is relatively approachable for suspension beginners and is easily modified for different abilities and body types. We will work with upper body harnesses you already know (for example a TK or arms front harness suitable for suspension)\, and Ceci will teach you how to support the lower body. You can stay in semi suspension or get fully into the air. \nStyle: Ceci’s tying is best described as fusion-style with a deep understanding of different schools of Japanese rope bondage. They are a specialist in modifying harnesses to different body shapes\, sizes\, compositions\, and abilities. Ceci is driven by understanding why people tie the way they tie\, and loves to deconstruct technique and communication into their basic elements to understand them better. In suspension\, Ceci prefers working low\, staying connected\, and moving through transitions. \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time:  every 2nd Tuesday of the month\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin)\nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single-/double column tie\, basic frictions\, you need to be able to tie an upper body harness\, simple up-lines \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, a set of 8 of your own ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  preferably partnered but you can also partner up in the class with other solo people or tie yourself (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros per person \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. If you are not sure you can come\, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it. \nIf you know you will come to the open training more than just once\, please ask for our discount card! You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.
