SUMMARY:Naoko Masterclass: One Body One Gote – Adapting Gote Shibari to Different Bodies
DESCRIPTION:Gote Shibari is one of the most iconic and foundational ties in Japanese rope bondage. In group workshops\, especially for beginner and intermediate students\, it is often taught as a fixed form. This helps students focus on learning essential technical components. While this approach is valuable for building solid rope techniques\, it often leaves little space for exploring and understanding how to adapt the tie to different people. Personalising the Gote is a nuanced practice that requires experience\, observation and deeper insight\, which is difficult to explore in a typical group setting. \nNaoko believes that no two Gotes are never the same. Whether you are tying someone for the first time or the hundredth\, every tie should be responsive to the person in front of you – how they feel on that day\, their body\, their energy\, the conversation you are having in rope\, and the space you are sharing. The Gote\, in her view\, is not a “one-size-fits-all” form but an evolving\, living expression of connection. \nAdapting Gote Shibari\nIn this workshop\, Naoko will present Gote Shibari as a customisable form through a series of live demonstrations (up to three\, time permitting). For each demonstration\, she will tie with a different person who has a distinct physique\, flexibility and personal preferences. Before tying\, Naoko will begin with an open conversation with the person being tied to understand their preferences\, needs and context of the tie. She will then tie the Gote specifically for them\, adjusting elements as needed while talking through the reasons behind her decisions. In some cases\, she may tie more the once to show variations or different approaches. After each demonstration\, Naoko and the person being tied will share a debrief to reflect on their experience. \nThroughout the class\, Naoko will talk through her thought process\, sharing insights into how she balances techniques\, aesthetics and feelings. She will demonstrate using the technical form of Naka style of Gote as the foundation. \nTopics include\n– Adapting to different body types (height\, weight\, muscle\, fat\, bone structure)– Navigating flexibility\, past injuries and physical limitations– How tying different bodies have an impact on time\, pacing\, number of ropes and the overall energy in a session– Understanding what sensations or experiences the person enjoys in Gote Shibari– Aesthetic choices based on body proportions – how to tie in a way that honours and highlights the unique beauty of the person being tied– Finding harmony between safety\, structure and emotional connection \nNaoko’s approach\nThis class focuses on individuality. Instead of relying on formulas for specific body types\, Naoko encourages a holistic and responsive approach. She avoids placing people into fixed categories like “flexible” or “inflexible” and applying standard techniques based on those labels. Rather\, she invites students to consider the full context of the person they are tying\, including their body\, emotions\, preferences\, and the interaction at that moment. The goal is not to follow a set method\, but to develop awareness and sensitivity in order to create an experience that truly suits the individual. \n\n

SUMMARY:Playing with Exposure (on the floor)
DESCRIPTION:This floor-based class will introduce playful bondage techniques\, all centered around a shared objective: deliciously exposing the person in ropes. The session will leave room for creativity\, allowing each pair to explore ways of exposing the other to provoke responses. (What feels exposing or intimidating to one person may not be so for another…) \nThe class offers tools and ideas to support each participant in discovering their own interpretation of what exposure in rope can evoke in both partners—whether that’s embarrassment\, vulnerability\, shame\, or shared intimacy. \nIt will also be a space to explore the power dynamics that emerge through this type of bondage\, as well as the reactions and emotions it can generate. \nFor a long time\, the most visible images of shibari were of individuals with a female gender expression (whose bodies conformed to hetero-patriarchal beauty standards)\, tied by individuals with a male gender expression. In recent years\, more diverse representations have begun to gain visibility\, and the practice is slowly becoming less stereotypical. \nBänana and her partner strive to create a class environment where everyone—regardless of gender\, expression\, or the dynamics of their relationship—can feel safe\, seen\, and welcome. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 31st\, 2005\, 7 pm- 9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie\, counter tension and X friction. \nWhat to Bring:  You can bring your ropes and safety equipment if you’d like to tie at the same time \nSolo or Partnered:  all constellations welcome (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the last live class for 14 days after the end of the entire series (so there is time!) \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:It’s Not the TK’s Fault if it’s Boring or Unsafe
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Takate Kote\, short just TK\, and its variations is one of the most tied structured patterns in the rope world. No matter if hands in the front or in the back\, if you tie a stemless TK or one with a stem\, whether you have Kannukis or not\, the TK is for sure a tie that has led to countless arguments amongst those who tie it regularly as well as against those who refuse to tie it for this or that reason. \nA standout quality of the TK is the fact that it is comprised of basically all fundamental techniques used in Shibari. Learning the TK isn’t limited to just learning a pattern but rather it allows to comprehend most of what is needed to tie with each other\, from proper tensions and placements\, all kinds of frictions and hitches\, as well as basic anatomy and rope handling. \nWe will not only demystify the Takate Kote but we will also look into the intricacies of it. We will work on it from the ground up and participants will get a picture as complete as possible about the advantages and disadvantages of various TK’s. What is it for\, when can we use which and what are the compatibilities and incompatibilities between different variations of the TK. \n  \nPart 1 (July 27th\, 2025\, 7-10pm CET)\n– Myths and monsters – why it’s not the TK’s fault if it’s boring or unsafe.\n– Principles of the TK – actually grounded in physics and not in tradition.\n– Complete structure of a TK \nPart 2 (August 3rd\, 2025\, 7-10pm CET)\n– Variations with hands low or high\n– Variations of the so-called “3rd rope”\n– Attachment points for suspensions and variations to support more up-line points. \nNote:\nThis hybrid class can be visited via zoom AND in person. The in-person class is located at Studio Allegory in Vancouver\, Canada. The class will be recorded and in-person participants will be shown how to avoid being in the recording if they choose to not be in the recording. All participants (online and in-person) will get access to the recording of the class for 30 days after the end of the class. Please be aware that an online ticket is not valid for an in-person participation. The online part is hosted by Karada House\, the in-person part is hosted by Studio Allegory. \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time: July 27th & August 3rd 2025\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: tie-along workshop (hybrid) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie plus a basic understanding of frictions and hitches (half- and munter hitches). \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner and skills for thorough negotiation. This is a “tie-along” class. During demonstrations\, participants are encouraged to tie along if they choose to. Switching is encouraged between exercises \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Rope Hangout: Networks
DESCRIPTION:A rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. You can hang out\, have coffee\, tea\, or soft drinks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nThis time we will focus especially on: Networks. We will draw inspiration for our tying from nature: spiderwebs\, mycelial networks\, fractals\, tree branches\, and dark matter. \nThe things you research\, share\, and explore at rope hangout don’t have to be on topic\, it’s merely a source of inspiration. \nNote: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n  \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: July 23rd\, 2025\, 7-10 pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both work\, this is peer learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as a participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. You ask for help from other participants and help others whenever needed\, especially in risky or emergency situations. There is at least one facilitator present for the entirety of the hangout. The role of the facilitator is to offer the space and be the contact person in case of safety concerns. The facilitator is a participant\, not a teacher. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend that you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. If you feel socially awkward\, like many of us do\, bring someone you trust with you\, or send us a message in advance so we can prepare to give you extra support. \n  \nWhat’s the space like? \na kitchen and hang-out area \n2 mezzanines for private tying \none large room with suspension points\, hashiras\, bamboo\, and rings provided. \nIn the summer: the silent garden (you can tie in the garden in the summer breeze but we keep noise levels low in this area. \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. SUMMARY:Pleasure Resistance – Sexual Liberation in a Fucked up World
DESCRIPTION:We live in a world that thrives on disconnection from our bodies\, from our desires\, from one another. Pleasure is often framed as a luxury\, a distraction\, or something to be earned. But what if pleasure is something deeper — a form of resistance? A radical reclaiming of our humanity\, our agency\, and our aliveness? \nPleasure Resistance is a 3-hour online workshop\, conversation\, and community space that invites you to explore pleasure not as indulgence\, but as a political practice that builds resilience. Together\, we’ll unpack how oppressive systems like patriarchy\, white supremacy\, capitalism\, and colonialism disconnect us from our erotic selves\, and how reclaiming joy and sensuality can be a bold act of defiance and care. \nThis is a virtual space for anyone who has felt anger\, shame\, numbness\, or confusion around pleasure. It’s for survivors\, queers\, rebels\, and anyone longing to reconnect with their pleasure in a world that tries to shut it down. You don’t need to have it all figured out\, just come as you are. \nWhat happens in the workshop?\nThrough guided reflection\, group dialogue\, and body-based awareness exercises\, you’ll be invited to: \n– Reframe pleasure as a tool for resilience and rebellion\n– Identify internalized narratives that limit your erotic freedom\n– Find rebellious paths to pleasure in an oppressive world\n– Explore what sexual liberation means to you\n– Connect with others in honest\, non-judgmental conversation\n– Begin (or deepen) your journey toward embodied joy \nThis space welcomes all genders\, sexualities\, body types\, and lived experiences. You do not need to have a positive relationship with sex or pleasure to attend — curiosity\, openness\, and respect are all that’s required. \n  \nEvent Details\nDate & Time:  July 22nd\, 2025\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: none \nWhat to Bring: pen & paper \nSolo or Partnered: solo \nClass recording: Yes. No participants will be recorded. You will have access to the recording for 14 days after the live class. \n\nAccessibility Note\nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. SUMMARY:Rope Study with Dasniya: Skin\, Ropes and Trust
DESCRIPTION:A monthly exploration of technique\, aesthetics\, and embodied experience in rope \nJoin us for our monthly Rope Study with Dasniya\, an intermediate level rope study session that blends intuitive movement\, systematic rope management\, and deepened awareness of body handling and safety. Throughout the session\, participants will have the opportunity to switch roles between tying and being tied—gaining a fuller understanding of restriction from both perspectives. Whether you are drawn to meditative ties\, sensual exploration\, or technical precision\, this class offers a space to experience rope with curiosity and care. \n  \nThis Month’s Exploration: Harness in Motion – Skin\, Ropes and Trust\n  \nIn this rope study class we will connect systems of consequent restriction with system of movements. Dasniya will open her vast dancers tool box to creatively expand the traditional shibari vocabulary. Rope harnesses will serve as anchor points and transform the classical top-bottom dynamic into playfully and intimately dancing with your partner in space. Note: This class is the second of a series of three classes that will explore this topic in depth. The classes build on each other but it is not obligatory to take all three of them. \nDasniya’s Rope Style\n  \nDasniya’s approach to rope is deeply influenced by the Japanese Kinbaku masters Akira Naka and Kasumi Hourai\, with whom she studied in both Europe and Japan. Further inspiration comes from the photographic work of Norio Sugiura and the legacy of Nureki Chimuo\, key figures in shaping this style. \nWhile this tying system is often regarded as advanced\, it can be adapted and taught from the ground up with regular practice\, attention to detail\, and a strong focus on safety. The method combines structured forms\, improvisational principles\, and a sensitivity to restriction\, allowing practitioners to refine their technique while developing intuitive flow. \nDasniya’s personal approach is also shaped by her dance training and Buddhist background. She views rigging through the lens of movement\, listening mindfully to impulses and resonance\, often creating a meditative and euphoric experience in rope. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 22nd\, 2025\, 7 pm-9 pm CET (Berlin) \nFormat: hands-on rope lab \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single-/double column tie\, basic frictions\, you need to be able to tie a box tie /TK\, simple up-lines \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes that are more tight fitting if possible\, a set of 8 of your own ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  preferably partnered but you can also partner up in the class with other solo people or tie yourself (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros per person \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. SUMMARY:Playfight & Rough Body Play Lab
DESCRIPTION:Use your body in a vastly different way. Restricted\, restrained\, maybe even tamed – our bodies are subdued to very strict rules and movements in our daily lives. Time to get primal and rough. Rough body play allows for more fighting\, emotions\, and a deeper exploration of power dynamics than play fights. \nOnce a month we open Karada House for 2 hours of randori (free fights) time to try your new skills and have fun. Our amazing instructor Montse will guide through \n• warm-up exercises \n• consent & safety \n• dos & don’ts \nAfter that – fight! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  every third Wednesday of the month\, 7-9pm \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Womên \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you need to know your body\, its boundaries\, and needs in terms of health and safety \nWhat to Bring: comfortable\, sport clothes that are more tight fitting if possible \nSolo or Partnered:  solo\, partnered\, in a group (everyone needs a ticket) \nPrice: 25 Euros \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \n  \nWhat else to know \nBefore purchasing a solidarity ticket\, please check here if you are eligible for one.

SUMMARY:Open Rope Training for Beginners: Restricting & Controlling Movement
DESCRIPTION:This bi-weekly open training is designed for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese-inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku whether you see yourself in the role of the person tying or being tied. \nOur open rope training for beginners is a continuous offer for anyone looking for a regular practice space to advance their skills. Each time we will offer a teaching on one particular topic. Depending on your skill level and how quickly you can pick up on things\, you can then either use the remaining open-space time to practice this one new skill in your own time or you can up the ante with the help of your teacher. You can also choose to train your own skills on another topic if you like and have a teacher give you feedback and help you improve. \n  \nTopic of the week: Restricting & Controlling Movement \nRestriction is a big part of why we love rope bondage\, and there’s only so much you can do with tying harnesses on separate body parts. This open training teaches you how to attach limbs to harnesses and furniture. It’s also a great first step for starting to figure out suspension lines. \nTeacher of the week: Ceci \nCeci teaches bondage from top\, bottom and switch perspectives with the intention of creating safer spaces to communicate through rope. They focus on curiosity\, play\, fun and the courage to learn from failure. Ceci likes to deconstruct technique and communication into their basic elements to understand them better. \n  \nNote: \nThe class starts at 7 pm sharp. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier so we can process your ticket and welcome you. Once the class has started we do not allow entry. You cannot transfer your ticket to another week. If you are not sure you can come\, please purchase your ticket on the day as soon as you are absolutely sure you can make it. \nIf you know you will come to the open training more than just once\, please ask for our discount card! SUMMARY:Primal Urges
DESCRIPTION:What happens when you merge rough body play and primal play? Our hope is that you will be lured into exploring the animalistic and the collective\, delving into the senses – tactile/touch\, smell\, taste\, sound and sight\, to gather knowledge\, find others\, and move others in different ways. Let’s murmur\, gaggle\, brood\, swarm\, pack\, herd and prey together to garner support\, collaboration and live in the present moment. \nCaritia (kink coach) and Montserrat “La Cabra” (MMA champ) invite you to a fun and knowledge-packed weekend\, mashing together primal play – kink that focuses on the senses\, non-verbal communication and basic instincts\, with rough body play – play fighting with techniques and kink elements\, for a deeply playful and immersive time with your participant clan. \nDay 1: Montserrat will lead participants through the tips\, tricks\, and techniques of rough body play\, using restriction\, restraint and coupled with strict rules to uphold the space\, whilst employing randori (free fights) to practice your newfound skills. \nDay 2: Participants will be taken on a partially guided journey to dive into their more base instincts using movement\, their senses\, and exploring animal behaviours. In the latter part of day two\, we will use randori and guided exercises to play and discover who is the predator\, the prey or would prefer to find the perfect pebble. \nWhat kind of creature is hidden inside you\, waiting to come out? Join Caritia and Monsterrat to find out. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July\, 12th-13th\, 2025\, 1 pm – 5 pm (with breaks) \nFormat: workshop & play exploration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Women \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: no knowledge needed \nWhat to Bring: bring comfortable clothing you can move and fight in \nSolo or Partnered: all constellations welcome\, ticket price is per person \n  \nWhat we will explore: \n– warm-up exercises\n– negotiation\, boundaries and finding consent\n– non-verbal communication\n– your inner swarm\n– movement & embodiment\n– collaboration and conflict\n– questions and feedback \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. The space\, KARA\, is on the ground floor but has three steps to enter the house. A ramp for wheelchairs is available at all times. There is also a parking space available right in front of the door if needed. KARA has an accessible bathroom available. There are no thresholds in the entire house. The garden is only partially accessible at the moment. During the workshop\, we will sit on the floor. Sitting in a chair can also be provided. Adaptations for physical needs will be shown and can also be provided upon request. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity.
