SUMMARY:The Promise of Identity – Maps of Identification
DESCRIPTION:The landscape of different sexual identities is vast and more and more white spots on the maps are discovered\, created\, and surveyed. \nAlthough it became easier to travel between different areas on that globe\, one operation remains unthinkable: Not to identify with a certain sexuality seems as rare and problematic as being nationless. \nIn a sense\, entering an area of a specific sexual identity demands from us the enunciation of a promise. To identify\, after all\, can be seen as an orientation in a certain direction or to submit to certain rules of that identity. \nIs there a way to identify without a promise? How would that look like and ‘where’ would that be? \nThis is not necessarily a workshop but an exploration. After establishing a toolkit of the identity surveyor\, we will go together on a journey to find out if there can be a land that does not require a promise of entrance. In other words\, we will draw a map of sexual identities. \nProgram: After a brief introduction of ideas\, Barkas takes a large\, empty map and together we will draw a world map of sexual identities with the aim of abolishing borders. The aim is to facilitate a lively discussion at the intersection of queer phenomenology\, politics\, heterotopology\, poetry\, and geometry. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 6 -7.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: exploratory workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Sex in Times of Neoliberalism
DESCRIPTION:In recent decades\, neoliberalist ideas have strongly influenced many aspects of our lives. We are witnessing a “commodification of everything” (David Harvey)\, combined with individualistic notions of freedom and choice\, which disguise different power structures and modes of exclusion. \nOften\, sexualities are understood as something private\, detached from such economic questions – but they are not. Yet\, the relations between sexualities and neoliberal capitalism are complex and sometimes ambiguous. \nThis workshop is an invitation to reflect on these relations and discuss the intersections of sex and neoliberalism along with the following and other questions: \nWhat happens to sex and sexualities in a society that urges us to consume\, compete and continuously improve ourselves? What does sexual freedom (not) mean in this context? And how can we as individuals and communities react to and/or counteract the growing neoliberalisation of our sexual lives? \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 4 -5.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Sexual Identities and Class
DESCRIPTION:Sexual identities are not fixed in any way. They change and transform and evolve constantly…. \nWe might identify as top or bottom or switch or slut or asexual or stone or bi or pan or queer or lesbian or kinky or straight or gay or poly or femme or butch or non of the above „boxes“. \nHow do class and the way we grew up (in poverty/ middle class / rich and all the places in between) come into play? \nDuring the first part of the workshop\, we will talk about topics of class and other social positionings like geography or race as they intersect with one another. This happens with a focus on how our sexual identities are shaped by them. It is not meant as a discussion but rather personal storytelling and active listening. Participants who want to share are asked to talk about their own experiences. \nThe second part of the workshop is about shame and pride and how we feel them in our bodies. This being a trauma-aware approach\, we will start with a guided meditation that helps us ground and sense our bodies. We will find an anchor that keeps us centered and from there explore a tiny little bit of what shame can feel like in our bodies. \nIt is possible to only take part in the 1st part of the session and to skip the 2nd part – or to watch it later! \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 2 -3.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:About: Sexual Identities Sunday Day Ticket
DESCRIPTION:The Karada House “ABOUT:”  conference series aims to bring transdisciplinary educators\, artists\, and thinkers with different approaches and backgrounds together to take a deep dive into specific\, complex topics around identity\, love\, sexuality\, the body\, and embodiment\, etc. \nIn our work\, we keep meeting a multitude of humans whose understanding of (their) sexual identity is informed by the idea that sexual identity is a somewhat fixed pattern that is hardwired into us and just needs to be found. We see how limiting\, binary\, and even detrimental to people’s lives this narrative is. \nABOUT: Sexual Identities will dedicate an entire weekend to explore the vastness and complexities of human sexual identities in many different ways. \nWe will offer a variety of formats from discussions to workshops or interventions with a focus on critical inquiry but also hands-on approaches in hopes to enable participants to not only think about sexual identities in a more intersectional way but also acquire skills to think and act accordingly in the future. \n  \nYou can browse the full programme here \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 25th\, 2021\, 12pm-9.30pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussions\, workshops\, talks \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nKnowledge level: all levels welcome \nWhat to bring: Yourself\, your questions\, stories\, partners \nClass recording: yes\, will be available for 30 days to the participants of the conference \n  \nYou can also purchase all events as solo events or get yourself a full conference ticket. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with all the necessary data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. DESCRIPTION:Folx living with chronic pain routinely confront normative ideas about sexuality as our bodies cannot\, struggle to – or simply don’t want to – adhere to politics of sexual desirability. \nExamples of this include physical aesthetics & physical ability\, including sexual activities\, positions\, stamina\, endurance\, etc. It’s so valid and common to have a complex relationship to sexuality\, which can be amplified by pain. \nThis workshop is for folx who experience chronic pain\, our partners & our allies to explore those complexities. \nAlmond’s intention for this workshop is to hold space for the exploration of chronic pain at the intersection of sexuality & intimacy – in our own bodies and in the bodies of people we love. We will arrive in gentle embodiment with poetry. We will chat about disability justice\, decentering normative sex practices\, expanding ideas of climax & moving through difficult emotions we may experience about our bodies and our sexuality. \nWe will share strategies and turn-ons. I will guide you in a short erotic self-pleasure practice. And we will end with some journaling. It will be filled with deep respect for all of the ways we each arrive at sexuality within this common thread of chronic pain. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 24th\, 8 -9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: There’s no pre-requisite of any kind. If this feels right for you\, I welcome you to spend some time reflecting on your relationship with chronic pain & sexuality before our workshop. If anyone is uncertain about joining\, you are welcome to contact me at almond.linden@gmail.com \nWhat to bring:   \n– Things for your body be as comfortable as possible (pain spray\, heating pad\, ice pack\, pain medicines/medications\, extra blankets & pillows\, etc) \n– Things for tend to your nervous system (essential oils\, crystals\, herbs\, medicines\, blankets\, pillows\, etc) – Something for journaling (journal\, recording device\, audio-to-text program\, etc) \n– Items for self-pleasure (oils\, lubricants\, sex toys\, etc) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part IV: Running Person
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part IV: Full Suspension – Running Person (April 24th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. For those newer to suspension\, each can be performed as a partial or full static suspension\, coming back out of the suspension by reversing the steps taken to get there. For those with more experience\, there will be options for additions or transitions\, before coming out either by reversing steps or continuing through to a different end point. The focus here is on sustainability\, balance\, and adaptation to suit and support the person in rope. Each piece of the tie must be well placed so that no one point is taking an undue amount of strain\, and the person tying must choose when to start moving out of the tie such that the person in ropes is in long enough\, but not too long. This creates sustainable suspensions and lets the tied person trust the tie and focus on the experience. We will look at balance points\, planning ahead\, and gauging when to come out so as to maximize the effectiveness of the tie. We will also discuss work-arounds for more common body quirks\, and self-checks and body knowledge for the people being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 24th\,  2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate\, but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nNo\, the picture does not show the running man pose. It’s still a cool picture\, though. \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Kinky – Identity or Preference?
DESCRIPTION:Kink is seen as something dirty that needs to be hidden\, something you choose to do instead of needing. \nStill very recently being kinky was a mental disorder\, a paraphilia that was pathologized. The normative gay community has been trying to keep a distance to BDSM because of politics\, even though it’s an integral part of queer culture. Some people still fear for their jobs and their family ties in case their kinky activities would come out. And some people get turned on by feeling wrong\, by being stigmatized. \nBeing kinky has a different meaning for different people. For some\, it is a primary sexual identity\, more important than things like the gender of partners or genital-based sexual activity. For others\, it’s a secondary identity\, and for many\, it’s the spice for the bedroom or a preference they can live without. \nJoin Ceci for this exploration of kink through performance and discussion. Share stories\, get political\, feel like you found a home\, feel alienated\, get angry\, give support\, listen. Leave with some new perspectives in the end. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 24th\, 2 -3.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: utensils like paper\, pen\, or laptop \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat will happen \n– Performance on kink and identity (Trigger Warning for kinky content\, possible face\, and neck rope\, possible triggering language) \n– Facilitated discussion and sharing ink is seen as something dirty that needs to be hidden\, something you choose to do instead of needing. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part III: Side Suspension
\n  \nTech Dump Part III: Full Suspension – Side Suspension (April 17th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 17th\,  2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Artistic Performance and Kink
DESCRIPTION:Artistic and erotic experiences have more in common than meets the eye. They speak both to the mind and to the senses\, they can be collective or individual\, they are an attempt to connect — to oneself\, to others\, to the world — through a given form.\n\nCaritia and Vanasay will share their experience as creators of the performance The Invocation of the Muse and help participants develop their own creative processes. \nThe workshop will lead to short digital presentations of the participants’ performances. What would you like to see? What would you like to show? How can we take advantage artistically of the intrinsic erotic energy of artistic performances that involve our energies as voyeurs and/or exhibitionists? \nThis workshop consists of two sessions. The first 15th April and the second 22nd April. Both dates are included the price of the workshop. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 15th and 22nd\, 7-10 pm (please arrive around 10min before the class) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: All levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  an open mind\, the grace to listen. It is advised that you have a working computer/laptop or mobile phone \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: yes\, participants will not be recorded\, \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• Identifying the intersection between kink/performance \n•  Discussing a few examples of landmark kink performances \n• Developing a project for a performance: examining one’s desires\, one’s projections\, one’s limits\, negotiating the relationship with the audience and the performance context \n• Negotiating feedback \n• Preparing\, rehearsing\, performing \n  \nWhat else to know \nThe workshop will lead to short\, digital presentations of the participants’ performances. Your ticket purchase is for 2 x 3-hour workshops taking place over consecutive weeks. \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the 2 x Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Astrology as a Tool
DESCRIPTION:If you don’t see it as something fixed\, astrology can be a powerful tool for empathy\, healing and self-discovery. A great starting point to play with the diverse energies can be our birth charts. \nDuring their first workshop with Karada House\, Hanne’s aim is to collectively explore some basic concepts of astrology. They will focus on how these explorations have helped them and will give you some ideas on how to start or continue your own astrological journey. The main question here: how can we engage with the Zodiac in more fluid and non-binary ways? \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 11\, 2021\, 2-4pm (please arrive around 10min before the class) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/A \nWhat to Bring:  paper and a pen. your birth chart\, if you already have access to it\, otherwise we will give you online possibilities to do so. \nSolo or Partnered:  both \nClass recording: no \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n. Short explorations of the elements\, signs\, planets and houses \n• Looking at your own birth chart and the complexity of it \n• How you can engage with astrology as a tool \n• Feedback and closing \n  \nWhat else to know \nThis workshop is offered for free\, as this will be Hanne’s first-ever workshop and it was agreed that offering this content without charge would allow for both learning and access. \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nPhoto: Photo by Brett Ritchie

This does not mean that the suspension is less strenuous or less risky\, though it does generally mean that the person in rope is close enough to the ground to be brought out relatively quickly. This session focuses on safety\, planning\, body mechanics\, and uplines. We will look at the pros and cons to different upline options\, speed/access/reliability\, and quick/smooth handling of both the rope and of the person in rope. We will examine balancing the body in the air vs the contact to the floor\, and signs that we have found the ‘right’ height. We also look at bringing people out of suspension smoothly and quickly\, communication and risk evaluation between tying partners\, and self-monitoring for those being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 10th\,  2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience.
