SUMMARY:Rope Practices for Every Body Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis workshop/research lab series by Kanna & Kagura aims to work towards diversifying Kinbaku/Shibari/rope and making it more accessible to all bodies\, sizes\, shapes\, ethnicities\, ages\, and genders in a positive\, empowering way. \nEnjoy challenging rope practices in a healthy and comfortable way that caters to the needs of your body and your heart. ♬︎♡ \nThis new series is based on your requests! It is not a pre-designed workshop/class where there is a base pattern and the main focus is on teaching it\, and then checking\, correcting\, and suggesting to each person\, to find the correct answer that already exists. \nThis series is a laboratory in which you will experience the process and thinking that goes into an answer that you pose. Together with Kanna  & Kagura\, you will explore a way to find an answer to your specific question and/or needs. \nNote: We will work mostly with common knowledge and not highly advanced techniques that require the prior acquisition of skills and knowledge. We will not require special equipment or furniture that is not available to everyone everywhere in order to keep the lab accessible for everyone. Furthermore\, the current situation of Covid-19 in Japan makes it unsafe and flat out impossible to work with different models of various body types and genders as it is too dangerous. We apologize. Whereas we cannot provide the representation we wished to provide for safety reasons\, we nevertheless wish to share our vast knowledge and we also have various ways to improvise and demonstrate. \n  \nThis event is for the entire series. If you wish to purchase single classes\, please click on the class link. \n  \n❤ Part 1: Restriction with furniture (May 22nd\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nInstead of the hashira work that is not accessible for everyone\, we’ll show various possibilities for restriction with chairs and other furniture. \n  \n❤ Part 2: Restriction with bamboo (May 29th\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nIn this lab\, we will NOT use bamboo as a hard point/suspension point (like parallel bamboo\, vertically suspended floating bamboo)\, but we will bind the body to the bamboo. \nIf possible\, please prepare a THIN bamboo. If you don’t have bamboo\, you can use a curtain pole\, a wooden stick\, or a mop handle. \n  \n❤ Part 3: Exposure for Play (June 5th\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nFor humiliation\, play\, se+ual acts\, and se+y poses let’s do Shibari where the partner is restricted in an embarrassing/shameful position (with the secret places in full view). \nThis class will include floorwork predicament and partial suspension. \n  \n❤ Part 4: “Supporture” (June 19th\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nSupporture = torture along with compassionate support. Let’s do some Shibari that can be both tormenting and supportive?!\nThe term supporture was created by the participants during the second series\, and can include many things such as hip harnesses\, crotch rope\, a hair tie\, or foot/toe bindings! \n  \n❤ Part 5: “Approaches to Tying Larger Bodies” (June 26th\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nAs mentioned in the first and second series\, there are many different approaches to similar shapes and positions for people with larger bodies.\nIn this class\, let’s do Shibari with less burden and more ropes so that any person can enjoy the same system of torture and suspension! \nPrior study of Hojo TK of Semenawa class in the first series (or predicament class in the second series) is recommended. \n  \n❤ Part 6: “Asymmetry for Different Physical Limitations” (July 3rd\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nIn general\, the main patterns of Kinbaku are symmetrical shibari\, but you can also enjoy asymmetrical shibari even if your partner has shoulder pain\, lack of flexibility\, shoulder/arm muscles tightness\, or left-right differences! Together we’ll adjust ties to different physical handicaps. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 22nd\, & 29th\, June 5th\, 19th & 26th\, and July 3rd\, 2021 2 pm – 4 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: research lab & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: Japanese\, simultaneous translation into English will be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: intermediate \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner\, a hard point \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes\, participants will not be recorded. The recordings will be made available for 14 days after the last live session (ending on July 17th\, 2021). \n  \nWhat else to know \n  \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Ranboo Style Part II: Next Level
DESCRIPTION:Ranboo\, literally translated means stormy\, overwhelming\, wild. \nAbout 10 years ago\, Barkas developed Ranboo as a way of rejecting a static and often seemingly boring practice of rope bondage. A wild dance while tying with each other is the result.\nRanboo is characterized by a large amplitude of variation of distance\, speed\, and intensity\, paired with an element of surprise. It is not a set of patterns or a “visual goal” but a way of interacting\nwith your partner(s) through rope\, a specific interview type\, if you want. \nIn this 3-parts workshop series\, Barkas and Addie will accompany the participants through the principles\, applications\, and variations of Ranboo\, while keeping a strong focus on safety. \nDisclaimer: The highly dynamic nature of ranboo comes with the potential of greater risk for injuries. We strongly recommend participants only watch and participate in part II & III if they watched part I and only practice exercises from the latter parts if they have proficiency in the basic techniques. \n  \nPart II Next Level (May 18th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nWe increase the pace and variation of distance and apply the principles learned in Part I to some standard patterns. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 18th\, 2021\, 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. None of that is a threshold for participation in general and participants of all levels are welcome.\nWe strongly recommend not to tie along when you are not proficient in the underlying rope techniques. \nWhat to Bring:  ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along in Part III \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. DESCRIPTION:The indivisible self was created from the works of Adler and Individual Psychology by Sweeney & Myers and is an evidence-based model of wellness which exemplifies holism as the foundation of human wellness. \nAdler placed an emphasis on the whole rather than the elements\, the interaction between the whole and parts\, and the importance of social context. \nIn this workshop and through breakout rooms we will examine the 5-second order intersecting factors through the lens of the eternal effects of local\, global\, institutional\, and chronometrical (lifespan) contexts. \n• The Essential Self is comprised of four components: spirituality\, self-care\, gender identity\, and cultural identity \n• Creative Self as the combination of attributes that each individual forms to make a unique place among others in his or her social interactions \n• Coping Self of realistic beliefs\, stress management\, self-worth\, and leisure \n• Social Self includes two components: friendship and love \n• Physical Self factor includes two components\, exercise\, and nutrition \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 13th\, 2021\, 8-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: – \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: no. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Ranboo Style
We strongly recommend participants to watch the series in order and only \npractice exercises from the latter parts if they have proficiency in the basic techniques. \n  \nPart I Introduction (May 11th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nIn the introduction\, we will get to know the key terms of ranboo and get familiar with movement and techniques to safely tie in this style. \n  \nPart II Next Level (May 18th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nWe increase the pace and variation of distance and apply the principles learned in Part I to some standard patterns. \n  \nPart III Floor & Air (May 25th\, 2021\, 7-10 pm CET) \nRanboo on the floor is challenging due to various aspects. In this part\, we use these challenges to further familiarize participants with the concepts developed in the previous parts but on the floor. Some challenges of ranboo that appear on the floor are similar when we go into suspensions. Other challenges are added. We go through a suspension and see how ranboo affects the way we can tie in the air. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 11th\, 18th & 25th\, 2021\, 7-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Active participants\, i.e. those who would like to tie along or try the exercises immediately\, should be able to tie a single/double column tie and have some knowledge about different frictions\, as well as suspension experiences for that corresponding part. \n  \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:The Promise of Identity – Maps of Identification
DESCRIPTION:The landscape of different sexual identities is vast and more and more white spots on the maps are discovered\, created\, and surveyed. \nAlthough it became easier to travel between different areas on that globe\, one operation remains unthinkable: Not to identify with a certain sexuality seems as rare and problematic as being nationless. \nIn a sense\, entering an area of a specific sexual identity demands from us the enunciation of a promise. To identify\, after all\, can be seen as an orientation in a certain direction or to submit to certain rules of that identity. \nIs there a way to identify without a promise? How would that look like and ‘where’ would that be? \nThis is not necessarily a workshop but an exploration. After establishing a toolkit of the identity surveyor\, we will go together on a journey to find out if there can be a land that does not require a promise of entrance. In other words\, we will draw a map of sexual identities. \nProgram: After a brief introduction of ideas\, Barkas takes a large\, empty map and together we will draw a world map of sexual identities with the aim of abolishing borders. The aim is to facilitate a lively discussion at the intersection of queer phenomenology\, politics\, heterotopology\, poetry\, and geometry. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 6 -7.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: exploratory workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Sex in Times of Neoliberalism
DESCRIPTION:In recent decades\, neoliberalist ideas have strongly influenced many aspects of our lives. We are witnessing a “commodification of everything” (David Harvey)\, combined with individualistic notions of freedom and choice\, which disguise different power structures and modes of exclusion. \nOften\, sexualities are understood as something private\, detached from such economic questions – but they are not. Yet\, the relations between sexualities and neoliberal capitalism are complex and sometimes ambiguous. \nThis workshop is an invitation to reflect on these relations and discuss the intersections of sex and neoliberalism along with the following and other questions: \nWhat happens to sex and sexualities in a society that urges us to consume\, compete and continuously improve ourselves? What does sexual freedom (not) mean in this context? And how can we as individuals and communities react to and/or counteract the growing neoliberalisation of our sexual lives? \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 4 -5.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Sexual Identities and Class
DESCRIPTION:Sexual identities are not fixed in any way. They change and transform and evolve constantly…. \nWe might identify as top or bottom or switch or slut or asexual or stone or bi or pan or queer or lesbian or kinky or straight or gay or poly or femme or butch or non of the above „boxes“. \nHow do class and the way we grew up (in poverty/ middle class / rich and all the places in between) come into play? \nDuring the first part of the workshop\, we will talk about topics of class and other social positionings like geography or race as they intersect with one another. This happens with a focus on how our sexual identities are shaped by them. It is not meant as a discussion but rather personal storytelling and active listening. Participants who want to share are asked to talk about their own experiences. \nThe second part of the workshop is about shame and pride and how we feel them in our bodies. This being a trauma-aware approach\, we will start with a guided meditation that helps us ground and sense our bodies. We will find an anchor that keeps us centered and from there explore a tiny little bit of what shame can feel like in our bodies. \nIt is possible to only take part in the 1st part of the session and to skip the 2nd part – or to watch it later! \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 25th\, 2 -3.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: – \nClass recording: Yes. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Chronic Pain x Sexuality
DESCRIPTION:Folx living with chronic pain routinely confront normative ideas about sexuality as our bodies cannot\, struggle to – or simply don’t want to – adhere to politics of sexual desirability. \nExamples of this include physical aesthetics & physical ability\, including sexual activities\, positions\, stamina\, endurance\, etc. It’s so valid and common to have a complex relationship to sexuality\, which can be amplified by pain. \nThis workshop is for folx who experience chronic pain\, our partners & our allies to explore those complexities. \nAlmond’s intention for this workshop is to hold space for the exploration of chronic pain at the intersection of sexuality & intimacy – in our own bodies and in the bodies of people we love. We will arrive in gentle embodiment with poetry. We will chat about disability justice\, decentering normative sex practices\, expanding ideas of climax & moving through difficult emotions we may experience about our bodies and our sexuality. \nWe will share strategies and turn-ons. I will guide you in a short erotic self-pleasure practice. And we will end with some journaling. It will be filled with deep respect for all of the ways we each arrive at sexuality within this common thread of chronic pain. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 24th\, 8 -9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: There’s no pre-requisite of any kind. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part IV: Running Person
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part IV: Full Suspension – Running Person (April 24th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. For those newer to suspension\, each can be performed as a partial or full static suspension\, coming back out of the suspension by reversing the steps taken to get there. For those with more experience\, there will be options for additions or transitions\, before coming out either by reversing steps or continuing through to a different end point. The focus here is on sustainability\, balance\, and adaptation to suit and support the person in rope. Each piece of the tie must be well placed so that no one point is taking an undue amount of strain\, and the person tying must choose when to start moving out of the tie such that the person in ropes is in long enough\, but not too long. This creates sustainable suspensions and lets the tied person trust the tie and focus on the experience. We will look at balance points\, planning ahead\, and gauging when to come out so as to maximize the effectiveness of the tie. We will also discuss work-arounds for more common body quirks\, and self-checks and body knowledge for the people being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 24th\,  2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate\, but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nNo\, the picture does not show the running man pose. It’s still a cool picture\, though. \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Kinky – Identity or Preference?
DESCRIPTION:Kink is seen as something dirty that needs to be hidden\, something you choose to do instead of needing. \nStill very recently being kinky was a mental disorder\, a paraphilia that was pathologized. The normative gay community has been trying to keep a distance to BDSM because of politics\, even though it’s an integral part of queer culture. Some people still fear for their jobs and their family ties in case their kinky activities would come out. And some people get turned on by feeling wrong\, by being stigmatized. \nBeing kinky has a different meaning for different people. For some\, it is a primary sexual identity\, more important than things like the gender of partners or genital-based sexual activity. For others\, it’s a secondary identity\, and for many\, it’s the spice for the bedroom or a preference they can live without. \nJoin Ceci for this exploration of kink through performance and discussion. Share stories\, get political\, feel like you found a home\, feel alienated\, get angry\, give support\, listen. Leave with some new perspectives in the end. \n  \nThis event is part of the “About: Sexual Identities” Conference and can be purchased as a single ticket or be part of the day ticket or full conference ticket. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: April 24th\, 2 -3.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to bring: utensils like paper\, pen\, or laptop \nClass recording: Yes.
