SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part VII: WTF suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part VII: WTF suspension (July 27th\, 7-10pm CET) \nSuspension without a set plan\, where what happens next is a mystery to even the person tying\, and where judgment\, experience\, and approximation come together to give the impression that the tying person meant for that to happen. Thus far\, we have looked mostly at set progressions and ways they could be linked together. This is the foundation necessary to start into open-ended dynamic suspension. Now\, we will propose a set of principles that maintain safety while allowing us to go off-script. We will look at the two main stumbling blocks in this type of suspension – where TF to go next\, and how TF to get out. And we will finish off with a surprise… \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 27th\, 2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate\, but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de \n

SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part VI: Adapt\, Improvise\, Fly!
\n  \nTech Dump Part VI: Adapt\, Improvise\, Fly! (July 20th\, 7-10pm CET) \nBased in part on the continuing injury adventures of Sloane\, this class will look at ways of tying when the person in ropes has an injury or body quirk that is typically thought to preclude the ‘go-to’ options for dynamic suspension. What if one arm is out of commission? One leg? What if they cannot stand up or bend their knees? What about heavier or squishy people\, who experience harsher strain on joints\, or find that ties shift more? This class will cover two options for working around an arm injury\, a take-off and landing from a chair\, and some techniques specific to tying dynamic suspension on someone heavier. This is less about ‘changing’ a tie to suit someone and more about making something entirely different. If there is time\, we will take requests for specific scenarios. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 20th\, 2021\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience.

SUMMARY:Rope Burnout – a Conversation
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn this class\, Ziggi will interview Hedwig about their experiences with going from being an international rope teacher and performer to quitting the rope world completely. It will be a conversation about mental health\, the things that make (queer) people disappear from the rope scene\, how a source of kinky creativity can run dry\, and what it means to leave a community.  \nParticipants in this class will be encouraged to share their own thoughts and feelings on rope-related burnout\, leaving a community\, quitting kink et cetera. We feel these topics are definitely not talked about enough and hope that a class like this can both act as an affirming space for those who have experienced feelings of rope/kink/creative/etc. burnout\, and as an opportunity to listen and learn for those who have not. \nNote: this is NOT “Hedwig’s return to the rope world”. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 18th\, 2021\, 8-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: interview & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/A \nWhat to Bring: Nothing \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome \nClass recording: yes/ participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• Leaving something is sometimes really hard \n• Leaving something is sometimes really good \n• What can we learn from those who leave?  \n• What can we learn from those who return? \n• Close \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Non-monogamous Relating 101
DESCRIPTION:Within our current times\, we are so accustomed to the ways of separation and individualism from Western idealism that we have forgotten how to relate to one another. Or perhaps we are neglecting how to do so? If you stepped away from stereotypes and norms what other types and ways to relate\, connect and find intimacy could await you? \nIn this collaborative and lively discussion & workshop\, Caritia will focus on the different ways participants can get to know their own ways to relate\, connect and share with those you wish to have in and orbiting around you. With the focus on what is nourishing for you\, ways in which to establish boundaries for your desire and what communication tools could be supportive. \nYou can join this class alone or with your partner(s) (everybody needs a ticket). \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 18th\, 2021\, 2 pm – 5 pm \nFormat: workshop & discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring:  pen\, paper\, questions and an open mind to listen\, share and connect \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \n  \nWhat we will teach / offer you \n– meditation \n–  boundaries and negotiation \n– finding language and your communication style \n– what is polyamory anyway? \n– network and community \n– relating utopia \n–  intention vs expectation \n– Feedback and close \n  \nSafety Concept \nYou need to bring proof of testing (not older than 24 hours)\, or proof of vaccination in order to be let inside. \nHand disinfectant provided in multiple places. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Series with Addie: Take Two!
DESCRIPTION:The details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. \n  \nTech Dump Part V: Hip Hip Hooray! (July 13th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThis session will focus on the varied uses of the Chaos Hip Harness (aka the Locally Euclidean\, or the Differential Geometry\, or the Hitches Harness). This harness has as many uses as it has names\, and is also the most comfortable that Addie has ever encountered. We will look at what is required for a harness to work\, how loading and balance affect function\, and to the ways that we can use a harness to move someone\, rather than just supporting them. We will venture into the air twice\, with two very different outcomes. No TK required\, this session will look at general rules and possibilities of structure rather than a set tie. However\, good suspension line knowledge is a must if taking to the sky. \nTech Dump Part VI: Adapt\, Improvise\, Fly! \nTech Dump Part VII: WTF suspension (July 27th\, 7-10pm CET) \nSuspension without a set plan\, where what happens next is a mystery to even the person tying\, and where judgment\, experience\, and approximation come together to give the impression that the tying person meant for that to happen. And we will finish off with a surprise… \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 13th\, July 20th\, July 27th\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties.

SUMMARY:Kink and Trauma
DESCRIPTION:  \nTrauma is a big word. But it can also simply stand for the fact that pain\, (also psychological pain)\, and loss are a part of life. Injuries can heal. To paraphrase Peter Levine\, who is groundbreaking with his work on the subject of trauma and healing\, it is not the difficult experience or the accident itself that is the problem. It is the traumatic energy bound in the body that can be so hard to deal with. This tension in the nervous system can be released. When the release is possible it has a beneficial influence on the overall situation of the body and the state of mind. \nIn this workshop and discussion\, Emma Steel will guide participants to explore breathing techniques\, body awareness meditations and very simple exercises that can be done lying down or sitting that regulate our nervous systems. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 11th\, 2021\, 11am-6pm \nFormat: in-house workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English / German translation \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Intermediate\, advanced \nWhat to Bring:  Bring an object that soothes you or calms you down\, like a blanket or cuddly toy or a stone\n \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome (Limited to 10 participants) \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• nervous system regulation exercises \n• breath techniques \n• What is trauma-sensitive communication and behaviour? \n• expectations\, needs and intention \n• body awareness meditations \n• feedback & questions \n• close \n  \nSafety Concept \nThis event falls under our Covid-19 guidelines. \nYou need to bring proof of testing (not older than 24 hours)\, or proof of vaccination in order to be let inside. \nHand disinfectant provided in multiple places. All surfaces are disinfected and will be disinfected in between use. \nSpace is limited to give more space for everyone. \nWe frequently air the space and also use fans for more circulation. \nYou must wear a mask at all times. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Introduction to Suspension
DESCRIPTION:This class is aimed at people who are already experienced with floor work and are looking to begin suspension. We will discuss some of the reasons behind why we do suspension\, the different styles and ways to use it\, and the feeling of suspension from the perspective of both tying partners. We will look at some of the most important elements in safe suspension\, and we will gradually build these elements into a basic suspension. \nIt is recommended that participants attend with a partner they already have some experience tying with\, and have practiced a suspendable upper body harness together (of any variety that both partners are happy with). Gestalta will take some time at the beginning of the class to review everyone’s harness individually\, make small suggestions for improvement if needed\, and will also explain what to look for in judging whether or not a harness is suspendable. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 10th\, 2021\, 11am-6pm \nFormat: in-house workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: \n• Ability to tie a suspendable upper body harness that both partners are comfortable with. \n• Basic awareness of anatomy in ropes (for example nerves and circulation) \n• Single column tie\, and basic frictions (e.g. half hitch) \n• Experience with tying on the floor\, including rope handling\, placement and tension \nWhat to Bring:  minimum of 8 ropes of 7\,5 – 8 meters in length\, plus some short pieces if you have\, food and snacks for your day\, comfortable clothing (something you would do movement in)\, questions\, and an open mind\n \nSolo or Partnered:  Partnered\, price is per pair \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• Reviewing harnesses for safety \n• Attaching suspension lines \n• Locking suspension lines safely and efficiently \n• Different types of suspension equipment and how to change your technique accordingly. \n• Suspension line management \n• Clear and effective communication with your partner \n• Moving and lifting your partner’s body \n• The uses of hip harnesses \n• Thinking a step ahead \n• How to get down \n  \nSafety Concept \nThis event falls under our Covid-19 guidelines. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n

SUMMARY:Strategies for Switching: Fulfilling Your Desires
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe term “switch” has a lot of baggage attached to it in a polarized BDSM community\, where you are expected to be a Top or a Bottom\, a Master or a Slave. There are a thousand reasons why many of us feel a calling to cross over from time to time\, while others are born to ride a wide variety of sides of their souls. \nWe will be addressing why people switch (Tops who want to know what it feels like\, Slaves who want to serve masochistic Masters\, greedy versatile pigs who want it all)\, strategies to finding play partners or relationship structures (one partner many roles\, play partners outside of monogamous relationships\, polyamory\, swinging\, open relationships\, self-play)\, and create ways to check in with ourselves about what our own needs are. Let’s look at switching\, and see what notions we are ready to embrace\, and which need to be switched around.< \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 9th 2021\, 8-10pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/A \nWhat to Bring:  An open mind\, sense of humor\, hydration\, and space to reflect on your journey\n \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: yes\, participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n. Examine what sort of multi-desire player you are \n• Discuss tools for sharing your passions with partners \n• Look at the various relationship approaches that can fit with your type of switching \n• Reflect on how to care for all of the sides of ourselves \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de

SUMMARY:Rope Practices for Every Body Part 6: Asymmetry for Different Physical Limitations
DESCRIPTION:This workshop/research lab series by Kanna & Kagura aims to work towards diversifying Kinbaku/Shibari/rope and making it more accessible to all bodies\, sizes\, shapes\, ethnicities\, ages\, and genders in a positive\, empowering way. \nEnjoy challenging rope practices in a healthy and comfortable way that caters to the needs of your body and your heart. ♬︎♡ \nThis new series is based on your requests! It is not a pre-designed workshop/class where there is a base pattern and the main focus is on teaching it\, and then checking\, correcting\, and suggesting to each person\, to find the correct answer that already exists. \nThis series is a laboratory in which you will experience the process and thinking that goes into an answer that you pose. Together with Kanna  & Kagura\, you will explore a way to find an answer to your specific question and/or needs. \nNote: We will work mostly with common knowledge and not highly advanced techniques that require the prior acquisition of skills and knowledge. We will not require special equipment or furniture that is not available to everyone everywhere in order to keep the lab accessible for everyone. Furthermore\, the current situation of Covid-19 in Japan makes it unsafe and flat out impossible to work with different models of various body types and genders as it is too dangerous. We apologize. Whereas we cannot provide the representation we wished to provide for safety reasons\, we nevertheless wish to share our vast knowledge and we also have various ways to improvise and demonstrate. \nThis event is for a single class. If you’d like to purchase the entire series for a reduced price\, please click here. \n  \n❤ Part 6: “Asymmetry for Different Physical Limitations” (July 3rd\, 2021\, 2 pm CET) \nIn general\, the main patterns of Kinbaku are symmetrical shibari\, but you can also enjoy asymmetrical shibari even if your partner has shoulder pain\, lack of flexibility\, shoulder/arm muscles tightness\, or left-right differences! Together we’ll adjust ties to different physical handicaps. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 3rd\, 2021 2 pm – 4 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: research lab & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: Japanese\, simultaneous translation into English will be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: intermediate \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner\, a hard point \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes\, participants will not be recorded. The recordings will be made available for 14 days after the last live session (ending on July 17th\, 2021). \n  \nWhat else to know \n  \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices.
