SUMMARY:#InRopesToo
DESCRIPTION:In December 2021\, Addie Tahl\, Pauline Massimo\, Gestalta\, Caritia\, and Sophia Rose launched a long-term project which consists of almost 10 hours of material documenting the abuse of power and the harm it does to people doing ropes. #InRopesToo is an archive of knowledge\, breadcrumbs\, and a look at the systems of power that are in place. \nKarada House stands in solidarity with this project and would like to continue the conversation it has started. In this session\, the #InRopesToo members will talk about systems\, structures\, and practices that cause harm and protect those responsible. The goal is not revenge or outing\, but education\, prevention\, and healing. \nContent Warning: Whereas this discussion is more about systems\, it will be impossible to not also talk about abuse and harm. \n  \nAbout #InRopesToo: \n#InRopesToo is a project created to provide healing space through the intersecting stories of four individuals whose lives crossed in the rope field. People who lost touch\, due to colliding disparities and interpersonal dynamics\, steeped in misogyny\, sexism\, ableism\, capitalism\, and financial inequality\, all of which divide and overwhelm people who are seeking community and belonging. They were brought back together by a simple question — “why are you not talking to each other?” \nThis project is their collective way of returning to themselves\, after realizing that the desire to support and be present for each other is still there\, and that the harm that took place was — and continues to be — systemic. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: items that make you feel safe and soothe your nervous system \nSolo or Partnered: both works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Barkas & Addie
DESCRIPTION:A lot of rope bondage is pattern-based and showcases the outcome of a tie\, a finished pattern\, a finished position. \nWorkshops in rope bondage all too often focus on the construction of a pattern or the final position into which the person tying has moved the person in ropes. This workshop goes in a different direction and explores the moments in which ropes are applied to the body. The impact of ropes has a similar temporality to music\, i.e. the moment a note has been played\, only memory remains of it. In tying with each other\, the moment ropes are applied to the body\, only a memory of the impact remains. We will use this temporality to work on different modes of impact\, movement\, and communication. \nContent: \n* Introduction and opening discussion of the topic \n* Upper body tie and possibilities to move through it. \n* Hip harness and possibilities to use frictions for impacts. \n* Closing discussion \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop/ demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie \nWhat to Bring: ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: both works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Soguita
DESCRIPTION:The approach of tying hair consists of working simple structure ties and exploring the resistance and sensitivity of the scalp to the extent of those who participate in the experience. \nIt is not the ultimate and only goal to achieve a complete hair suspension\, but the nuances of experience and the technical aspects of the discipline. \nIn this class you will learn about: care in risk practices (body\, mind\, emotions)\, uses\, and personal concerns. Lark’s head\, half hitch\, pulley\, single and double braid\, hairstyle\, capillary strength\, hair and rope gag\, “mummy” and “scarf”. Scalp massages and cervical care exercises. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: lecture/discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Basic knowledge of rope handling and care for the person being tied. The patterns of the ties are not complex but they do require a lot of attention in the details of tension and physical care. \nWhat to Bring: Hairbrush or comb\, Ropes (1 minimum). Ideally a suspension point or some point where a hoist/pulley can be generated to work the tension in the scalp. The strength of the hands can also be used. \nSolo or Partnered: The workshop is designed to work with a partner. It is quite difficult to tie your own hair (not impossible)\, that is why it’s highly recommended (but NOT excluding) to be with someone open to participate and explore this practice. \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Ceci Ferox
DESCRIPTION:This is a workshop for bottoms on figuring out what it is that you crave for when getting tied and how to ask for it. \nWe will talk about different dynamics in rope play and the bottom’s role in creating them. You will think about how you see yourself as a bottom and how you might want to evolve in the future. There will be conversations about consent and expressing desires as well as a critical exploration of how we treat our tops and dominants. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: lecture/discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: paper and pen \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:QUEEROPE 2022 Day Ticket: Thursday
DESCRIPTION:  \nQUEEROPE 2022 is a 5-day virtual conference for mostly shibari/kinbaku/Japanese-inspired bondage that is exclusively for LGBTQIA+ people and womên. \nWe welcome all roles (rigger/tops\, model/bottoms\, switches\, etc.)\, all knowledge levels (beginner\, intermediate\, advanced)\, and all styles to this gathering that aims to bring queer & female-identifying practitioners together to celebrate their love for rope and exchange knowledge and experiences. \n\nLineup Thursday: \n12 pm – 1.30 pm CET:  Maintaining your Rope and your Mental Health (Caritia) \n1.45 pm – 3.45 pm CET: Asking for What You Want as a Bottom (Ceci Ferox) \n4 pm – 6 pm CET: Focus on Hair (Soguita) \n6.15 pm – 8.15 pm CET: The Impact of Ropes (Addie / Barkas) \n8.30 pm – 10.30 pm CET: #InRopesToo Discussion \n  \nDay Pass: \n50 Euros per day pass. \nA day pass is valid for one person for the entire conference day and includes access to the recordings of the day’s classes for 30 days after the event. \nFor a full conference ticket\, please go here. \n  \n  \nFAQ: \nHow do you define “LGBTQIA+” & “womên”? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \nI am not LGBTQIA+ and not a womên\, can I still attend? \nNo\, please respect that this particular event is not for you. There are lots of other events you can attend. But Queerope one is solely for people of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum & womên. \nI cannot afford the ticket but would love to join. What do I do? \nSend us a message via info@karada-house.de. If we have pay-it-forward tickets available we will make them available to you. If we don’t we will put you on a waiting list or see what else we can do. Either way\, we will find a way. \nWhat platform do you use for the virtual conference? \nWe need to use Zoom as it is the only platform available that is affordable and stable enough for bigger groups. Please make sure you can fulfill the requirements for Zoom from your side to have a satisfactory experience.  We will do our best to make the zoom calls safe by engaging all possible security features. You do not have to turn your camera on and you can use any name you like. \nThe times don’t always work for me / I cannot attend everything I want… \nThat is why we will make recordings available to you\, so you can watch & re-watch them within 30 days. \nIf I share my computer with a person\, is buying one ticket enough? \nNo. You are not paying for the computer access but for the knowledge that the facilitators and artists are distributing. Please respect that knowledge has a worth and should be compensated. \nI am all alone at the moment and have no partner. Does it still make sense to participate? \nAbsolutely. There will be a variety of topics and skills and not all of them require a partner. You can learn a lot even just by listening and watching or trying things on yourself. We will also provide knowledge and possibilities for self-tying & suspension and other solo practices.

SUMMARY:Pauline Massimo & Roser
DESCRIPTION:Pauline and Roser will share their experience of tying in movement: Restricted Movements. The fine line of restricting the body while it can move in many different ways creating an improvised dance between two dancing bodies restricted with a rope/s. \nPauline is experienced with different types of dances\, movement research\, and creative body expression\, and they have been mixing artistic movements with Shibari since their beginning when discovering the Japanese practice.\nAnd Roser has a short but going deeper experience with dances like Contact Improv and Butoh where she is connecting more with her own body without having any previous experience all her life\, finding new ways of expression besides her work as a photographer and Shibari. \nBoth will share some technical components to help and guide attendees to play with\, show some improvisation guidelines to work around on their own way when practicing\, and will demo all those concepts all together at the end. The class is practical for all levels of tying/being tied\, all bodies types\, body mobility\, and movement backgrounds(or lack of). They will offer a Q&A chat at the end with participants. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: performance & discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: yourself \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Almond Linden
DESCRIPTION:People living with chronic pain & disability deserve to feel safe(r) & welcome in rope communities. \nFor this to be more common\, we need to actively remove ableism from our rope practices. This session is for people who are NOT in chronic pain who want to be better allies to folx in pain within rope. (Although you are most welcome if you ARE in pain!) \nYou’ll learn to tie & be tied by disabled & chronically painful folx in ways that are supportive\, affirming\, and safe(r). Through discussions\, demonstrations\, practical exercises\, and take-home guides\, you’ll learn how to make your rope practice more accessible. Topics will include approaches to adaptive tying\, unique safety considerations\, props & tools\, strategies for communication & examples of ableism in rope practice. \nAlmond is a disabled\, chronically ill\, and chronically painful rope switch that facilitates the Chronic Pain & Rope Workshop Series. If you also belong to disability and/or pain communities and are unsure if you should attend this workshop\, you’re very welcome to email Almond at almond.linden@gmail.com \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: lecture & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools\, something to take notes. Items to take care of your body & nervous system (tea\, snacks\, pillows\, cozy socks\, etc). \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \nAccessibility information: \n• Automated Zoom captions will be turned on. \n• The presentation will always have a minimum of 18pt font. \n• The images shown will be accompanied by a verbal image description. \n• The presentation slides will be available to download before\, during & after the workshop. \n• You’re welcome to contact Almond if you have any access needs that aren’t addressed above. \n

SUMMARY:Addie Tahl & Sloane
DESCRIPTION:This class takes a deep dive into the minute details of what makes good tension\, clean placement\, even lines\, and smooth\, effortless rope movement. \nThese absolutely fundamental (and universally applicable) micro-techniques are difficult to pin down but magic once implemented\, and make the difference between good rope and excellent tying. We will look at how to use hands more effectively\, going into details like which fingers hold tension when\, how to flip or angle rope to prevent twists\, which angles to follow when throwing rope to clear it\, how to multi-task so that one hand can accomplish two (or three) tasks simultaneously. \nWe will break down how the person tying can maneuver their hands and body to tie even cuffs (thigh\, ankle) that stay in place\, or how to tweak those cuffs better suit the needs of a tie. We will also look at techniques to prevent finger and hand injuries for those who tie. These techniques are useful to anyone who ties\, no matter their style\, and all skill levels will find these techniques useful and productive. \nBeginners are especially invited to attend as it is easier to build good habits from the beginning. Solo attendance is also encouraged\, and techniques will be taught in such a way that they can be practiced on oneself. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: discussion & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: A single column tie \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:Gandalf
DESCRIPTION:One of the most curious things about rope bondage is that it has grown in such a way that neither rope nor bondage is its most central aspect. \nAs we begin our journey into the world of knots\, frictions\, and tension controls\, it is worthwhile to pause and ask why we tie in the first place. In this workshop\, we will introduce a series of movement and rope exercises that explore a wide set of communicational resources in tying. Thematically\, they are an exploration into our relationships with each other. Technically\, they make use of some fundamental rope handling and tensioning skills. \nWe welcome absolute beginners to use this workshop as the beginning of their rope journey\, as well as experienced practitioners to come back to the basics and contemplate what brought us to tying in the first place. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\,  we will mostly present partnered exercises\, but solo options will be provided as alternatives \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

SUMMARY:The Elements of “Seme” VI: 恐れ Osore (Fear)
DESCRIPTION:“Seme” is much more than simply giving pain or creating predicaments as it is often translated and described to Western students of Shibari.\nIt is also not a style\, technique\, or excuse to hurt someone through roughness or carelessness. \nOn the contrary\, seme is applied deliberately\, carefully\, precisely\, sometimes boldly\, and always on purpose. Seme is about playing with limits and boundaries while never breaking them. In short\, Seme is a delicate and complex way of playing in ropes. \nIn this series\, Kanna & Kagura will deep dive into the general categories of Seme\, along with their concepts\, essential characteristics\, how to choose the suitable Shibari\, and how to play with all of these elements. \nThis series is not a set series about any particular Shibari patterns\, but rather allows students to practice with no matter what style/school of Kinbaku you like and choose.\nSo this will encourage you to pay closer attention to your desires and heart\, and make you dive more deeply into kink as a practice and pain as a sensation! \nThis Seme series will consist of 6 classes of 6 different Seme types in total: \nⅠ:痛みItami(Pain)\nⅡ:苦しみKurushimi(Suffering)\nⅢ:辱めHazukashime(Humiliation)\nⅣ:冷熱Reinetsu(Cold&Heat)\nⅤ: 快楽Kairaku(Pleasure)\nⅥ:恐れOsore(Fear) \n  \nThis event is for a single class. If you’d like to purchase the entire series for a reduced price\, please click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  February 19th\,  2022\, 11 am – 1 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: research lab & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: Japanese\, simultaneous translation into English will be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: basics \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner\, a hard point \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes\, participants will not be recorded. The recordings will be made available for 14 days after the last live session (ending on February 26th\, 2022). \n  \nWhat else to know \n  \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de. \n  \n

SUMMARY:The FAT Lab & Jam
DESCRIPTION:Are you tired of feeling like your body doesn’t fit the narrow imagery of bondage? So are we. This is a rope jam for people who dress in sizes 44 and up. \nBecause we want a space that celebrates the fact that not only can all of us tie and be tied\, but we look gorgeous doing it. And because we want a space where we can help each other and share knowledge specifically about tying fat bodies. They have experience and knowledge in tying fat and heavy bodies both from inside and outside the ropes. \nIf you can buy clothes in normal clothes stores\, please make sure to give extra space for the experiences and voices of those with bigger bodies than yours. \nWho is welcome? \nPeople who dress in sizes 44 or larger because smaller sizes do not fit their body. SUMMARY:Hit me baby one more time – Valentine’s Special
DESCRIPTION:For Valentine’s Day and due to numerous requests received we’ve adding an extra workshop 🙂 \nSpanking is an act that many people/adults enjoy\, no matter gender and why is that you might ask? SUMMARY:The Elements of “Seme” V: 快楽 Kairaku (Pleasure)
\n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  February 12th\,  2022 1 pm – 3 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: research lab & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: Japanese\, simultaneous translation into English will be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: basics \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to tie along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner\, a hard point \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes\, participants will not be recorded. SUMMARY:Kink and Trauma Part II
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is open for anyone who has already done the first part of Kink & Trauma with Emma Steel. \n  \nOne of the basic ideas of somatic healing is that trapped energy connected to traumatic events is “locked” in our bodies and can get released. \nIn order to invite the nervous system to do that “automatically and by itself” we practice in delicate and small steps. How can we combine this magic with kink and play? \nDuring part 1 of the workshop\, we discussed planning and aftercare of sessions that invite transformation. We tried somatic practices and breathing techniques. We talked about risk and being brave. With that experienced knowledge\, we will this time set up play scenes that take into account what we have already established together. We will negotiate and enact scenarios that have healing and transformative intent. We will dare to step in. \nFor example\, we could have a bondage scene that is about feeling held and safely connected to an event in the past that was chaotic and dangerous. Or\, we can do role play around a situation that was about degradation in the past and is now about dignity and feeling connected. Or\, we can hurt someone until tension is released\, crying or screaming „stop“ is possible. \nThe potential is endless. Our time together is not. \nWe will however take enough time to settle in the new group and create enough trust so that an atmosphere of playfulness and curiosity can arise. \nThat is why we will start with breathing and awareness exercises and with discussions in small groups. In the afternoon we will play! \nBoth players and witnesses are warmly invited – you get to decide about your role on the day of! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  February 12th\,  2022\, 11am-6pm \nFormat: in-house workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English / German translation \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Intermediate\, advanced \nWhat to Bring:  Bring an object that soothes you or calms you down\, like a blanket or cuddly toy or a stone\n \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations welcome (Limited to 10 participants) \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• nervous system regulation exercises \n• breath techniques \n• practical role play and group work \n• feedback & questions \n• close \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Below the Belt: C*ck & Ball Bondage
DESCRIPTION:As extreme as it may first sound\, the spectrum for sensation with tying the penis and testicles is very diverse! I like to call it cock and ball bondage (CBB) vs. cock and ball torture (CBT) because.. it doesn’t necessarily have to be torturous! \nFrom gentle teasing and light sensation play to more intense feelings with pressure or predicaments – I will show you a variety of pleasures (and consensual pain…) that cock bondage and CBT can provide for us and our partners\, or clients! \nUsually this class is a hands-on demo-based experience in person – though working online I will have to get a bit more creative! Since I don’t have a real penis available to demo on in person for you – I will be using props\, talking\, and showing some images and videos from past play sessions to give you inspiration and explain ideas – I will dedicate time to answer all questions as best as possible. \n\nDuring this class we will cover: \n• Basic anatomy and safer play practices\n• Different types of sensation play to create a fun scene around CBB/CBT\n• Getting creative: the different tools and materials we can use\n• Tie and tease: for pleasure\n• How to build up more intense sensations – and aftercare\n• Time for questions and sharing \nThis class is open to all experience levels – beginners most welcome. This class is welcome for people working together or feel free try it on yourself alone if you’d like to experiment – or just come and takes notes/ ask questions! It’s also possible to practice/work on a packer or dildo if you are alone but want to try some things – I can demonstrate this. \nThis will be an open and relaxed spaces to share and have fun. SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:Our intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink.
