DESCRIPTION:Tying without patterns is a good way to learn about tension\, frictions\, and placement of rope. Freestyling\, going back to basics\, and breaking rules will help you understand the material you are working with. It will also free your mind for play. Unpredictability might help access deeper levels of connection. \nIn this workshop\, we will go through different drills that will help your creativity and communication. We will look at\, touch\, and test the rope to understand cause and effect. We use single and double column ties\, and frictions to create ties for everybody and every body. \nYou should take an active and attentive mind with you – tested and tried patterns are always safer than free flow\, and this has to be taken into consideration. Let’s explore the possibilities here\, especially in the ways we communicate in rope\, both verbally and non-verbally. \nLeaving structure aside for a moment\, what compels the person tying with ONE MORE ROPE?\nWhat habits do you have\, and which of them do you seek to break?\nWhat feedback and response is your partner giving you\, and are you receiving it?\nWithout the road map of a pattern\, where might your hands lead you? \nAs the person being tied in one more rope\, what are you drawn to?\nWhat do you want and/or need more\, and less\, of?\nIn what ways do you communicate through rope\, and is the message being received?\nHow can one more rope help you feel seen? \nThrough discussion prompts and hands-on exercises\, Blue and Moxie will lead attendees through explorations to break habits\, deeply listen to our partner\, and find some unique ties along the way. \nThis class is aimed at attendees with a foundation of tying knowledge\, including experience tying/being tied in structured patterns. The class will be hands-on for tying partners; self-tyers are welcome to participate as well. For those who get tied and are interested in the topic\, please join us! You are welcome to participate in the discussion prompts throughout the class. \nBlue and Moxie will be demonstrating the exercises with a hands-bound box-tie\, and some talking points will address this particular type of tie. DESCRIPTION:In December 2021\, Addie Tahl\, Pauline Massimo\, Gestalta\, Caritia\, and Sophia Rose launched a long-term project which consists of almost 10 hours of material documenting the abuse of power and the harm it does to people doing ropes. #InRopesToo is an archive of knowledge\, breadcrumbs\, and a look at the systems of power that are in place. \nKarada House stands in solidarity with this project and would like to continue the conversation it has started. In this session\, the #InRopesToo members will talk about systems\, structures\, and practices that cause harm and protect those responsible. The goal is not revenge or outing\, but education\, prevention\, and healing. \nContent Warning: Whereas this discussion is more about systems\, it will be impossible to not also talk about abuse and harm. \n  \nAbout #InRopesToo: \n#InRopesToo is a project created to provide healing space through the intersecting stories of four individuals whose lives crossed in the rope field. People who lost touch\, due to colliding disparities and interpersonal dynamics\, steeped in misogyny\, sexism\, ableism\, capitalism\, and financial inequality\, all of which divide and overwhelm people who are seeking community and belonging. DESCRIPTION:A lot of rope bondage is pattern-based and showcases the outcome of a tie\, a finished pattern\, a finished position. \nWorkshops in rope bondage all too often focus on the construction of a pattern or the final position into which the person tying has moved the person in ropes. This workshop goes in a different direction and explores the moments in which ropes are applied to the body. The impact of ropes has a similar temporality to music\, i.e. the moment a note has been played\, only memory remains of it. In tying with each other\, the moment ropes are applied to the body\, only a memory of the impact remains. DESCRIPTION:The approach of tying hair consists of working simple structure ties and exploring the resistance and sensitivity of the scalp to the extent of those who participate in the experience. \nIt is not the ultimate and only goal to achieve a complete hair suspension\, but the nuances of experience and the technical aspects of the discipline. \nIn this class you will learn about: care in risk practices (body\, mind\, emotions)\, uses\, and personal concerns. Lark’s head\, half hitch\, pulley\, single and double braid\, hairstyle\, capillary strength\, hair and rope gag\, “mummy” and “scarf”. Scalp massages and cervical care exercises. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: lecture/discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Basic knowledge of rope handling and care for the person being tied. The patterns of the ties are not complex but they do require a lot of attention in the details of tension and physical care. \nWhat to Bring: Hairbrush or comb\, Ropes (1 minimum). Ideally a suspension point or some point where a hoist/pulley can be generated to work the tension in the scalp. The strength of the hands can also be used. \nSolo or Partnered: The workshop is designed to work with a partner. DESCRIPTION:  \nQUEEROPE 2022 is a 5-day virtual conference for mostly shibari/kinbaku/Japanese-inspired bondage that is exclusively for LGBTQIA+ people and womên. \nWe welcome all roles (rigger/tops\, model/bottoms\, switches\, etc.)\, all knowledge levels (beginner\, intermediate\, advanced)\, and all styles to this gathering that aims to bring queer & female-identifying practitioners together to celebrate their love for rope and exchange knowledge and experiences. \n\nLineup Thursday: \n12 pm – 1.30 pm CET:  Maintaining your Rope and your Mental Health (Caritia) \n1.45 pm – 3.45 pm CET: Asking for What You Want as a Bottom (Ceci Ferox) \n4 pm – 6 pm CET: Focus on Hair (Soguita) \n6.15 pm – 8.15 pm CET: The Impact of Ropes (Addie / Barkas) \n8.30 pm – 10.30 pm CET: #InRopesToo Discussion \n  \nDay Pass: \n50 Euros per day pass. \nA day pass is valid for one person for the entire conference day and includes access to the recordings of the day’s classes for 30 days after the event. \nFor a full conference ticket\, please go here. \n  \n  \nFAQ: \nHow do you define “LGBTQIA+” & “womên”? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \nI am not LGBTQIA+ and not a womên\, can I still attend? \nNo\, please respect that this particular event is not for you. There are lots of other events you can attend. But Queerope one is solely for people of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum & womên. \nI cannot afford the ticket but would love to join. Either way\, we will find a way. \nWhat platform do you use for the virtual conference? \nWe need to use Zoom as it is the only platform available that is affordable and stable enough for bigger groups. Please make sure you can fulfill the requirements for Zoom from your side to have a satisfactory experience.  We will do our best to make the zoom calls safe by engaging all possible security features. You do not have to turn your camera on and you can use any name you like. \nThe times don’t always work for me / I cannot attend everything I want… \nThat is why we will make recordings available to you\, so you can watch & re-watch them within 30 days. \nIf I share my computer with a person\, is buying one ticket enough? \nNo. You are not paying for the computer access but for the knowledge that the facilitators and artists are distributing.
