SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds\, and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch\, and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink. Minimal experience folx. Highly experienced folx. Curious and interested in learning more about yourselves folx. People with neurodivergence and those without. Folx with partners/intimates/connections who are neuro & non-neuro who are interested in kink. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: June 10th\, 2022\, 7-9.30pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion & lab \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/A\n \nWhat to bring: Questions\, stories\, active suggestions\, compassion\, and an open heart \nEveryone must purchase a ticket no matter your constellation \nAccessibility information: \n• Automated Zoom captions will be turned on.\n• The presentation will always have a minimum of 18pt font. \nClass recording: Yes. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nConcepts/offers for discussion\n \n– meditation/intro \n–  what is neurodivergence? broad-spectrum \n– what to consider? intersectionality\, boundaries\, negotiation\, and care \n– language(s)\, perspective(s)\, intention(s) \n– opening to difference and the space that needs \n– formats will include self-reflection\, small groups\, big group \n– gentle embodiment practice throughout the 2.5 hours (including a short break) \n– open freeform space for free association (if it proves to be supportive of the group) \n– Feedback and close \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:No Back to Normal – Lessons the Pandemic Taught Us
DESCRIPTION:The year 2020 marked the beginning of deeply unexpected and intense change for all of us. Day to day “normality” came to a halt and we had to adapt many aspects of our lives. Our physical bodies\, minds\, relationships\, working practices\, connection to ourselves and others\, identity\, sexuality\, and much more shifted significantly. \nMany of us were suddenly in a place where for a prolonged time we didn’t have to play certain roles or behave in certain ways because society had stopped looking – what has come out of this? Did this experience catalyze change in your personal life\, and if so\, how? What precious learning have you come through this experience with? \nPerhaps most importantly – How can we harvest and hold on to this new understanding about ourselves as parts of the world “open up” and “return to normal”? \nThe complexity of these shifts deserves our thought and attention. Let’s pause and resist the urge and pressure to just go ignore or forget the lessons the pandemic taught us about ourselves. In this open discussion format\, we will be holding space to explore how the last 2 and a half years have changed us. This is a space to share\, listen\, ask\, and take time to reflect thoughtfully on our experiences. \n\nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 7th\, 2022\, 7pm-9pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nClass recording: No. \n  \nSome of the topics for discussion \nWho were you when you went into the pandemic? \nWhat did you learn about yourself the moment society stopped looking? \nWho are you now? \nWhat are your expressions and identities now you’ve come out of it? \nWhat changes are individual and what has collectively impacted us? \nHow can we just not go back to the default? \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de

SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor III: Advanced Communication Techniques
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. Despite this\, connection and communication as concepts are slippery to define\, tricky to exemplify\, and often tautological in explanation. Connection is not created by a set of actions\, by a particular pose\, by close proximity\, or touch. It cannot be prescribed\, nor\ndoes it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, there are techniques that help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\,\nrespond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and\nthus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. This Metaphor formed the basis of Barkas’ book\, Archeology of Personalities: A Linguistic Approach to Erotic Rope Bondage. \nSince then\, the Interview Metaphor has grown and gathered friends – the Archive\, Reciprocity\, the City\, to name a few. Each of these concepts gives a fresh view into how scenes work\, how\npeople interact\, how power structures evolve\, and what we make of/build with our efforts and intentions. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding\nin the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this is a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of\nconcepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. This final part deals with the less obvious corners of nonverbal communication and we will be looking at the interview from the perspective of music\, architecture\, and poetry. \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. \nIf you wish to purchase a series ticket for all three parts\, click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 5th\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie\, part I and II recommended but not necessary \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class and will remain available for 14 days after the end of the entire series. \n  \nWho is this event for? SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor Series
It cannot be prescribed\, nor does it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, there are techniques that help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\, respond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and thus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. Each of these concepts gives a fresh view into how scenes work\, how people interact\, how power structures evolve\, and what we make of/build with our efforts and intentions. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding in the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this is a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of concepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \nPart I:\nPower and communication. We will discuss with the help of simple exercises how the terms power and communication can be understood in the context of rope bondage. It marks the emergence of the interview metaphor. \nPart II: \nGrammar and vocabulary of the interview. In this part\, we will see how much we can borrow from the realm of verbal communication and how we can implement concepts such as interruption or punctuation in order to have more meaningful scenes. This is about different interview styles. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. This final part deals with the less obvious corners of nonverbal communication and we will be looking at the interview from the perspective of music\, architecture\, and poetry. \n  \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 22nd\, 29th and June 5th\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class and will remain available for 14 days after the end of the entire series. \n  \nWho is this event for? SUMMARY:Pain is Inevitable\, Suffering is Optional: Techniques for Erotic Pain Processing
DESCRIPTION:Each of us processes pain and intense sensations in different ways. Some of us scream\, some go silent\, and some laugh with glee. Some focus on the connection we have with our partners and go stoic\, while others dance\, writhe\, and squirm to let the pain come out through movement. \nFrom distracting ourselves with other thoughts or body inputs\, to breathing techniques we each enter altered states differently. The same is the case for transforming what individuals and society call “pain” into passion\, fugue states\, or delight. In this workshop\, we will discuss how different individuals process pain and how to increase your own effectiveness in transmuting pain into pleasure\, suffering\, or erotic connection. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 18th\, 2022\, 8 pm – 10 pm \nFormat: workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: ideas\, questions\, partners\, ways to keep notes \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation works \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach \n– Develop a new understanding of what “pain” can mean to different people\n– Decide what they want to transmute pain into\n– Increase your “toolbox” of different approaches to altering your state of consciousness during intense sensations\n– Pick up tools for increasing the sensations experienced in scenes\, as well as decreasing it\n– Hear various stories from the instructor and fellow students on their relationship with erotic pain \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and respect everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Expanding the Frame: Kink and Intersectionality
DESCRIPTION:Kink and intersectionality are topics that are often spoken about separate from each other or on a more theoretical basis while trying to understand systemic oppression. Only rarely is the opportunity given to go into the nuance of the idea of how intersectionality affects our kinks and vice versa. \nCaritia aims to offer space for participants to dig a little deeper into how intersectionality affects who we decide we wish to relate to\, how we decide to relate to them and why some topics of kink are too challenging to dive into. \nThis discussion and lab are aimed at anyone who wishes to understand more about their own kinks\, the oppressive nature of society’s rules\, and to have more freedom to express one’s desires\, wants\, and needs in kink and ultimately in life. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: May 4th\, 2021\, 7-9.30pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion & lab \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/A\n \nWhat to bring: Questions\, stories\, active suggestions\, compassion\, and an open heart \nSolo or Partnered: both\, everyone needs a ticket \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Magic Tricks for Excellent Rope Handling
DESCRIPTION:This class takes a deep dive into the minute details of what makes good tension\, clean placement\, even lines\, and smooth\, effortless rope movement. \nThese absolutely fundamental (and universally applicable) micro-techniques are difficult to pin down but magic once implemented\, and make the difference between good rope and excellent tying. We will look at how to use hands more effectively\, going into details like which fingers hold tension when\, how to flip or angle rope to prevent twists\, which angles to follow when throwing rope to clear it\, how to multi-task so that one hand can accomplish two (or three) tasks simultaneously. \nWe will break down how the person tying can maneuver their hands and body to tie even cuffs (thigh\, ankle) that stay in place\, or how to tweak those cuffs better suit the needs of a tie. We will also look at techniques to prevent finger and hand injuries for those who tie. These techniques are useful to anyone who ties\, no matter their style\, and all skill levels will find these techniques useful and productive. \nBeginners are especially invited to attend as it is easier to build good habits from the beginning. Solo attendance is also encouraged\, and techniques will be taught in such a way that they can be practiced on oneself. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 1st\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm \nFormat: discussion & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: A single column tie \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, ropes\, safety tools \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Consensual Non-Consent 101
DESCRIPTION:Consensual non-consent is a form of play that is based on a mutual agreement between play partners to act as if consent has been waived. This form of play is a complex web of thoughts\, ideas\, and desires which requires a delicate balance of boundaries and communicated needs to navigate what can be deliciously troubled waters. \nJoin Caritia for this open discussion on the topic\, covering the basics and answering your questions in this co-created space. \nFor starters\, we will dive into questions such as: What is CNC? Why would anyone wish to engage with this form of play? And how many different ways can it turn out? Where are the boundaries between consent and the desire to play with taboos? Feel free to bring you own ideas and questions to the (virtual) table \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 28th\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm \nFormat: discussion \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: ideas\, questions\, partners\, ways to keep notes \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation\, works \nClass recording: yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach: \n– establishing boundaries and boundary setting\n– understanding what CNC is and is not\n– who this is for?\n– intentions within CNC\n– support strategies\n– communication tools\n  \nWho is this event for? You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \nWhat else to know? \nSolidarity tickets are reduced-price tickets for people who cannot afford the full price. If the soli price is still to high for you\, please message us at info@karada-house.de \n

SUMMARY:Frank Conversations: Power Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Frank Conversations is a loose discussion series that tackles complex topics around\, relationships\, kink & sexuality\, bodies\, gender\, and identity in a no-bullshit kind of approach. We all have questions and problems\, sensibilities\, trauma but also curiousness and playfulness around these topics. \nTogether we will create a safe(r) environment where ANY question can be asked. \nTogether as a group and led by Caritia & Mamana we will talk about the things that need to be talked about but which often do not find space for a frank discussion. \nOur approach is open\, honest\, and always based on lived experiences\, intersectional ideas\, and the understanding that by talking openly we can all learn and progress. \nThis frank conversation will revolve around the topic of power and ethical\, consensual power exchange within relationships (any kind). Who has the power? How is it given or taken? How can one hold power in a nourishing way? What happens when power hierarchies enter relationships and how do you make it work? \nWe happily take your questions before the discussion. Feel free to write to us via info@karada-house.de \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  April 21st\, 2022\, 7 pm- 09.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level: all levels welcome\nWhat to bring: pen & paper\, your questions \nClass recording: yes\, will be available for 14 days to the participants \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de
