SUMMARY:Spontaneous and Improvisational Rope Adventures
DESCRIPTION:Uncurated flow of intimacy building on simple foundational elements of play and expression within a world that is enhanced by but not dependent on rope. \nA reminder to create and celebrate joy and silliness and be less serious in play. This workshop and performance are inspired by a childlike ignorance of the perfect and fuelled by reckless imagination. Life is fun. \nThe first 90+ minutes will be a workshop followed up by a performance with Tapiwa & Gestalta for about the last hour. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: June 26th\, 2022\, 6 pm – 9 pm \nFormat: workshop & performance \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, tension/counter tension \nWhat to Bring: ropes\, safety shears\, a towel/blanket \nSolo or Partnered:  both are possible depending on whether you want to tie with another person or self-tie \nTicket: Price is per person\, everybody needs a ticket independently of their role \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n

SUMMARY:Preparing for Lift-Off: Ties for Suspension
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for those who have already learned some basic rope techniques\, and want to look towards building their skills for suspension\, in a space that gives more structure and time to learn than our drop-in classes. \nWe will focus on how structure harnesses for suspension\, and how to understand whether or not a tie is suspension ‘safe’. We will think about the tension and placement of the ropes\, building solid structures\, and thinking about how weight and gravity act on the tie. \nGestalta will be your guide and teacher and will encourage you to develop your skills\, ground yourself in the fundamentals of tying and being tied\, build muscle memory\, and find inspiration on your rope journey. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: June 26\, 2022\, 10 am – 5 pm (one-hour lunch break) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, basic wrapping\, a basic friction or two (any kind!) \nWhat to Bring: 4 ropes\, a towel\, or blanket (we can provide workshop ropes if you have none\, you can also buy ropes from us) \nSolo or Partnered: both\, the ticket price is per PERSON\n \n  \n  \nWhat we will teach you \nThe content of this workshop will most likely include (but is not limited to!):\n– understanding the basics of what makes a harness useful for suspension\n– understanding stems\n– understanding loading and directionality of force\n– further skills in wrapping\, tensioning & counter tension\n– frictions\, and when/where to use them\n– health and risk awareness in rope\n– Tying and thinking creatively \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Power Exchange as a Love Language
DESCRIPTION:The traditional Five Love Languages are words of affirmation\, touch\, quality time\, acts of service\, and gifts. Kim would like to propose a sixth Love Language of trust which can be explored intentionally through power exchange. We will discuss strategies for using control as a way to express affection in both a relationship dynamic and kink play. \nAllowing another person to make your decisions can be a beautiful way to show how much you love and appreciate them. And on the flip side\, showing your partner that you can keep their wellbeing as a priority while you exercise that privilege is a way to return that consideration. \nFor the dominant folks\, we will focus on vulnerability through commands\, restraint\, and personalization of joy and suffering. For the submissive folks\, we will focus on strong communication skills\, attention to detail\, and letting your dominant take control over low-intensity decisions. \nCome join us on this thought-provoking journey of discovery! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 24th\, 2022\, 7-9pm CET \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: All levels welcome \nWhat to Bring: yourselves\, pen & paper\, questions \n \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. Participants will not be recorded. The recording will be available for 14 days after the live class \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de

SUMMARY:Create Your Own Asymmetric Ties
DESCRIPTION:Asymmetry can give the body the peace and comfort needed when playing with ropes. Injured bodies\, trans bodies\, sensitive bodies\, tired bodies\, muscular bodies\, fat bodies\, all bodies can benefit from adjusting and working around certain areas with asymmetric ties. \nIn this workshop\, Pauline aims to share their reasoning for creating and building asymmetric ties\, so participants can find their own way to build them instead of following pattern-based instructions. Get ready to build your own asymmetric harness for rope play\, and unlock the creative process while maintaining a strong safe technique and construction for any kind of shibari session. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 23th\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: suitable for all levels as long you know single and double column tie\, nodome\, and some frictions (X and half moon/L friction) \nWhat to Bring: pen & paper\, rope\, and safety equipment if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation works\, if you want to tie along you need a partner \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach \n– Review the basics before messing up things. \n– Share different techniques to create patterns and aesthetics for people who quickly suffer from creative brain blockage when under pressure \n– Collect and share ideas and try out some hands-on exercises \n– Let’s make it safe!!! \n– How to test new harnesses without smashing your face when testing -driving them. \n– Little tricks to polish and feedback. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and respect everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Improvisation & Creativity for More Rope Fun Series
DESCRIPTION:Improvisation and creativity are best friends and why not collaborate with both BFFs and create an interesting\, deep\, and joyful session along the way? \nThis is an experimental laboratory format\, not a formula. Pauline will share their thought when it comes to making a rope session go in different ways: fun but serious\, chaotic but steady\, surprising but safe(r)\, challenging but comforting. If you find it hard to improvise\, end up always following patterns\, or get anxious about being boring…maybe we can unlock that in this workshop series. \n  \nPart I: Creative Improvisation on simple but effective Ties (June 22nd\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm) \nIn this class\, Pauline will focus on creativity and improvisation for simple ties\, which do not require lots of experience. \nPart II: Fucking up Structures (on purpose) (June 29th\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm) \nIn this class\, Pauline will go deeper into improvisational tying by constructing and purposefully deconstructing structures as well as sharing more ideas on tying with props and spacial possibilities. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 22nd / 29th\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: suitable for all levels as long you know single and double column tie\, nodome\, and some frictions (X and half moon/L friction) \nWhat to Bring: pen & paper\, rope\, and safety equipment if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation works\, if you want to tie along you need a partner \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach \n-Safety first “This is your life”. \n– Preparation “ Is this what you want?”. \n– Can we break the rules? “bad habits”. \n– Mental aspects for exploration. \n– hands-on exercises for improvisation\, tools you might need. \n– “The element of surprise”. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and respect everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds\, and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch\, and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink. SUMMARY:No Back to Normal – Lessons the Pandemic Taught Us
DESCRIPTION:The year 2020 marked the beginning of deeply unexpected and intense change for all of us. Day to day “normality” came to a halt and we had to adapt many aspects of our lives. Our physical bodies\, minds\, relationships\, working practices\, connection to ourselves and others\, identity\, sexuality\, and much more shifted significantly. \nMany of us were suddenly in a place where for a prolonged time we didn’t have to play certain roles or behave in certain ways because society had stopped looking – what has come out of this? Did this experience catalyze change in your personal life\, and if so\, how? What precious learning have you come through this experience with? \nPerhaps most importantly – How can we harvest and hold on to this new understanding about ourselves as parts of the world “open up” and “return to normal”? \nThe complexity of these shifts deserves our thought and attention. Let’s pause and resist the urge and pressure to just go ignore or forget the lessons the pandemic taught us about ourselves. In this open discussion format\, we will be holding space to explore how the last 2 and a half years have changed us. This is a space to share\, listen\, ask\, and take time to reflect thoughtfully on our experiences. \n\nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 7th\, 2022\, 7pm-9pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion / demonstration \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nClass recording: No. \n  \nSome of the topics for discussion \nWho were you when you went into the pandemic? \nWhat did you learn about yourself the moment society stopped looking? \nWho are you now? \nWhat are your expressions and identities now you’ve come out of it? \nWhat changes are individual and what has collectively impacted us? \nHow can we just not go back to the default? \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor III: Advanced Communication Techniques
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. Despite this\, connection and communication as concepts are slippery to define\, tricky to exemplify\, and often tautological in explanation. Connection is not created by a set of actions\, by a particular pose\, by close proximity\, or touch. It cannot be prescribed\, nor\ndoes it rely solely on instinct. Much like learning basic steps of dance before building to allow improvisation\, there are techniques that help us to notice cues\, interpret them more aptly\,\nrespond constructively\, and evaluate the impact of our actions. \nIn early 2016\, Barkas laid out the first version of the Interview Metaphor\, a structure that allows those who tie to identify and handle the elements in a scene and\nthus understand why specific actions might be more effective than others. This Metaphor formed the basis of Barkas’ book\, Archeology of Personalities: A Linguistic Approach to Erotic Rope Bondage. \nSince then\, the Interview Metaphor has grown and gathered friends – the Archive\, Reciprocity\, the City\, to name a few. Each of these concepts gives a fresh view into how scenes work\, how\npeople interact\, how power structures evolve\, and what we make of/build with our efforts and intentions. \nThis workshop series approaches the Interview Metaphor and associated structures chronologically\, starting with the Interview and adding complexity and layers of understanding\nin the same order in which the concepts themselves were formalized and introduced\, making this is a historical exploration of the evolution of rope theory as well as a practical application of\nconcepts. Demonstrations and exercises allow participants to practice and absorb concepts. As with all of Barkas’ and Addie’s classes\, there is an emphasis on the education and contribution of\nboth (all) parties in the scene. \nPart III: \nAdvanced communication techniques. This final part deals with the less obvious corners of nonverbal communication and we will be looking at the interview from the perspective of music\, architecture\, and poetry. \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. \nIf you wish to purchase a series ticket for all three parts\, click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 5th\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie\, part I and II recommended but not necessary \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class and will remain available for 14 days after the end of the entire series. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor II: Grammar & Vocabulary
\n  \nPart II: \nGrammar and vocabulary of the interview. In this part\, we will see how much we can borrow from the realm of verbal communication and how we can implement concepts such as interruption or punctuation in order to have more meaningful scenes. This is about different interview styles. \nThis event is part of a series of 3 classes. It is advised to visit all classes but also possible not to. Your choice entirely. \nIf you wish to purchase a series ticket for all three parts\, click here. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 29th\, 2022 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English\, translation into German can be provided \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie and basic knowledge of some upper body tie\, part I recommended but not necessary \nWhat to Bring:  if you want to work along you need ropes\, safety gear\, space\, a partner \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:The Interview Metaphor Series
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe pursuit of ‘connective’ or ‘communicative’ rope is central to the experiences many of us seek in rope bondage. SUMMARY:Pain is Inevitable\, Suffering is Optional: Techniques for Erotic Pain Processing
DESCRIPTION:Each of us processes pain and intense sensations in different ways. Some of us scream\, some go silent\, and some laugh with glee. Some focus on the connection we have with our partners and go stoic\, while others dance\, writhe\, and squirm to let the pain come out through movement. \nFrom distracting ourselves with other thoughts or body inputs\, to breathing techniques we each enter altered states differently. The same is the case for transforming what individuals and society call “pain” into passion\, fugue states\, or delight. In this workshop\, we will discuss how different individuals process pain and how to increase your own effectiveness in transmuting pain into pleasure\, suffering\, or erotic connection. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  May 18th\, 2022\, 8 pm – 10 pm \nFormat: workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – \nWhat to Bring: ideas\, questions\, partners\, ways to keep notes \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation works \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach \n– Develop a new understanding of what “pain” can mean to different people\n– Decide what they want to transmute pain into\n– Increase your “toolbox” of different approaches to altering your state of consciousness during intense sensations\n– Pick up tools for increasing the sensations experienced in scenes\, as well as decreasing it\n– Hear various stories from the instructor and fellow students on their relationship with erotic pain \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and respect everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others.
