SUMMARY:Introduction to Suspension
DESCRIPTION:This weekend workshop is aimed at people who are already experienced with floor work and are looking to begin suspension. We will discuss some of the reasons behind why we do suspension\, the different styles and ways to use it\, and the feeling of suspension from the perspective of both tying partners. We will look at some of the most important elements in safe suspension\, and we will gradually build these elements into a basic suspension. \nIt is recommended that participants attend with a partner they already have some experience tying with\, and have practiced a suspendable upper body harness together (of any variety that both partners are happy with). Gestalta will take some time at the beginning of the class to review everyone’s harness individually\, make small suggestions for improvement if needed\, and will also explain what to look for in judging whether or not a harness is suspendable. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 30th & 31st\, 2022\, 10.30am-5.30pm \nFormat: in-house workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: \n• Ability to tie a suspendable upper body harness that both partners are comfortable with. \n• Basic awareness of anatomy in ropes (for example nerves and circulation) \n• Single column tie\, and basic frictions (e.g. half hitch) \n• Experience with tying on the floor\, including rope handling\, placement and tension \nWhat to Bring:  minimum of 8 ropes of 7\,5 – 8 meters in length\, plus some short pieces if you have\, food and snacks for your day\, comfortable clothing (something you would do movement in)\, questions\, and an open mind\n \nSolo or Partnered:  Partnered\, price is per pair \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• Reviewing harnesses for safety \n• Attaching suspension lines \n• Locking suspension lines safely and efficiently \n• Different types of suspension equipment and how to change your technique accordingly. \n• Suspension line management \n• Clear and effective communication with your partner \n• Moving and lifting your partner’s body \n• The uses of hip harnesses \n• Thinking a step ahead \n• How to get down \n  \nSafety Concept \nThis event falls under our Covid-19 guidelines. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \n

SUMMARY:Releasing Grief and Sadness
DESCRIPTION:Sadness and grief touch so much of our present-day journey. \nThey are multi-layered and challenging to navigate\, but do they have a purpose? How can we personally\, collectively\, and metaphorically allow ourselves to sit with the complexity of sadness? And cherish\, honour\, and release our grief? Let’s give ourselves the gift(s) of transformation and inspiration. \nFor this ritual & workshop\, we will explore our grief place(s)\, where we find them\, why they are important and how we can remind ourselves to embrace them when we are challenged. The idea is not to have all the answers\, but more to give ourselves space to sit\, take time and share in a supportive held container. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 28th\, 2022\, 7 pm- 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level: none \nWhat to bring: Pens\, paper\, paints\, sketchbook\, images\, stories\, tissues\, objects\, and ideas to share \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be available after the live class for 14 days. \nWhat we will do \nCaritia’s proposal is to give space\, offer to witness/be witnessed\, and create rituals around grief\, sadness\, loss\, release\, and frustration. Exploring methods and actual practices/things which turn up the sadness in our lives – both individually and with others. Opening to the dark and the light. Mindfulness\, as well as a respectful tone\, is a must.\n• Guided meditation \n• Defining the nuances \n• Mess as a form of release \n• Communication Tool Kit – Finding Language around/ for sadness \n• Holding space alone or together – ways to connect \n• Who is your sadness for? \n• Feedback & close \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Solo Rope Play – Freestyle and Flow – Self-Tying Session
DESCRIPTION:So often we can find ourselves tying the same thing and feeling a bit stuck about ‘where to go’ or ‘what to do’ when we self-tie. In this session\, we will step away from patterns and step by step harnesses and start to think more about tapping into our intuition\, curiosity\, and creativity with self-tying. We will find ways to surprise ourselves in rope and get an inspiring boost of new ideas for solo rope play. \nSophia will offer exercises and suggestions to work with the senses\, breath\, quality of movement\, sounds\, space\, contrast\, props\, and more. Together we will explore these different prompts and ideas to expand the spectrum of possibilities when we self-tie. This class is open to all levels\, and you are invited to participate at the level which feels confident and good for you – if you want to do partial suspension during this session you can. Sophia will demonstrate some very basic ideas for exploring partial suspension (no full suspension will be shown and it is not recommended for this class). \nThis class can be done standing\, sitting\, or lying down on a bed/on the floor. If it feels good\, you are invited to bring any props\, toys\, materials\, or items which you would like to work with during this session. It could be because of an interesting texture\, smell\, sensation\, or something which is symbolic and meaningful for you. \nThough open to all levels\, you will really benefit from knowing some basics for this class – a single column tie\, basic frictions such as reverse tensions\, and how to handle rope with some fluidity. Sophia will offer a 1-hour session prior to this class for those who would like to go over these basics. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time: July 3rd\, 2022\, 8-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat:  workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: – everyone is welcome\, if you are an absolute beginner\, please also book this preparation class \nWhat to bring: – ropes\, strings\, thread and any other things you would like to tie with\n \nClass recording: Yes – Participants will not be recorded. This recording will be available for 14 days after the workshop \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Power Exchange as a Love Language
DESCRIPTION:The traditional Five Love Languages are words of affirmation\, touch\, quality time\, acts of service\, and gifts. Kim would like to propose a sixth Love Language of trust which can be explored intentionally through power exchange. We will discuss strategies for using control as a way to express affection in both a relationship dynamic and kink play. \nAllowing another person to make your decisions can be a beautiful way to show how much you love and appreciate them. And on the flip side\, showing your partner that you can keep their wellbeing as a priority while you exercise that privilege is a way to return that consideration. \nFor the dominant folks\, we will focus on vulnerability through commands\, restraint\, and personalization of joy and suffering. For the submissive folks\, we will focus on strong communication skills\, attention to detail\, and letting your dominant take control over low-intensity decisions. \nCome join us on this thought-provoking journey of discovery! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 24th\, 2022\, 7-9pm CET \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: All levels welcome \nWhat to Bring: yourselves\, pen & paper\, questions \n \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. SUMMARY:Improvisation & Creativity for More Rope Fun I
DESCRIPTION:Improvisation and creativity are best friends and why not collaborate with both BFFs and create an interesting\, deep\, and joyful session along the way? \nThis is an experimental laboratory format\, not a formula. Pauline will share their thought when it comes to making a rope session go in different ways: fun but serious\, chaotic but steady\, surprising but safe(r)\, challenging but comforting. If you find it hard to improvise\, end up always following patterns\, or get anxious about being boring…maybe we can unlock that in this workshop series. \n  \nPart I: Creative Improvisation on simple but effective Ties (June 22nd\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm) \nIn this class\, Pauline will focus on creativity and improvisation for simple ties\, which do not require lots of experience. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  June 22nd\, 2022\, 7 pm – 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nMinimum Knowledge Level: suitable for all levels as long you know single and double column tie\, nodome\, and some frictions (X and half moon/L friction) \nWhat to Bring: pen & paper\, rope\, and safety equipment if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation works\, if you want to tie along you need a partner \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event. \n  \nWhat we will teach \n-Safety first “This is your life”. \n– Preparation “ Is this what you want?”. \n– Can we break the rules? “bad habits”. \n– Mental aspects for exploration. \n– hands-on exercises for improvisation\, tools you might need. \n– “The element of surprise”. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and respect everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people. \nWhat else to know? \nSolidarity tickets are reduced-price tickets for people who cannot afford the full price.
