SUMMARY:Inventing Suspension Harnesses
DESCRIPTION:Want to give your rope brain a creative boost? This workshop will give you tools for inventing and building your own suspendable harnesses that fit the person you are tying and your own personal tying style. You will bet both technical and creative skills.\nWe will dive deep into understanding the basic frictions used for harnesses (munter hitch variations\, X-friction\, L-friction\, half moon) and learn about rope tension and placement for suspension of different kinds of bodies.\nYou will get some exercises to do after the workshop that will help you research existing harnesses to really understand what they are about\, while unleashing some creativity through restriction. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 11th\, 2023\, 7-9.00 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: demonstration and lecture (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level:  solid practical understanding of the fundamentals for floor-based tying (single and double column ties\, ladder\, half hitch\, munter hitch) and some experience in tying harnesses for suspension\, understanding of own and partner’s limits and capability to make informed\, negotiated decisions\, no physical requirements for participants. \nWhat to Bring: Pen and paper. After the workshop\, you will need a full rope set fit for suspension to practice (the exact amount of ropes depends on the body size of the person you are tying and your tying style) \nSolo or Partnered:  both is possible\, everybody needs a ticket \nClass recording: Yes. The recorded will be available for 14 days after the live class \n  \nWhat we teach \n· Frictions for suspendable harnesses \n· Tension and rope placement \n· Systems of building harnesses \n· Creativity exercises \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. If that is still too much or they are out of stock\, feel free to send us a message via info@karada-house.de \nPhoto: Ceci Ferox

SUMMARY:Constructing Hip & Leg Harnesses
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will give you a deeper knowledge of how hip and leg harnesses work: different options for constructing them\, considering body shape and body positions\, safe rope placements\, and loading the harnesses in suspension. \nWe will work with options from minimalistic to overtied\, and find good fits for any type of body. This workshop is especially suitable for bottoms who are fat\, have injuries\, or have other specific considerations around the waist\, hip\, and leg area. It is possible to self-tie in this workshop. \nPlease note that there are no suspension points in the space\, so we will only be working on the harnesses outside of suspension. This workshop is not suitable for beginners. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 8th 2023\, 11 am – 6 pm (1-hour lunch break in between) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you have experience in tying harnesses and you have a solid practical understanding of the frictions and techniques needed for tying them (frictions like X\, L\, and half moon\, proper rope handling and tension\, basic suspension safety)\, you are able to co-operate on building harnesses with your partner if you are attending partnered. You are able to express boundaries and make informed negotiated decisions. \nWhat to Bring:  5 ropes\, paper\, and pen\, water bottle\, and snacks. The person getting tied needs to wear non-slippery form-fitting clothes on the hips and legs. \nSolo or Partnered:  solo or partnered (each participant must purchase a ticket)\n \nPrice: 60 Euros per person \n  \nWhat we will teach you \n· Demonstrations of harnesses and lecture content \n· Labbing with your partner or on yourself to find the best fit \n· Group conversations \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nAll visitors and participants must wear an FFP2 mask at all times. \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all pro-actively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.

SUMMARY:Trauma-informed Negotiation
DESCRIPTION:Let’s make space to acknowledge the reality that most (if not all) of us may carry some histories and experiences of trauma in our bodies. When we play with the vulnerability and intimacy of kink and BDSM\, we could come into contact with these realities. How do we take better care of ourselves and one another if this is the case? \nThis class will support you to enhance your negotiation skills beyond the basics of what you do and don’t want to do during play. How do you communicate and ask transparently about trauma? How could this show up and what to do if someone becomes triggered? What does safety and care look and feel like for you in a kink context? Let’s take an in-depth exploration into how we can develop our negotiation practice to be more trauma-informed. \nThis class is suited for people throughout the kink spectrum\, from top to bottom\, Doms and subs\, riggers and people who like to be tied\, and switches alike – we will look from the perspective of both ‘sides’ of the equation\, what needs to be known\, how to support one another\, and how to create negotiation styles which work for you. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 5th\, 2023\, 7 pm- 9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level:  n/a \nWhat to bring:  A journal. Any questions you have \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations. The ticket price is per person. \nClass recording: Yes. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part III: Side Suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part III: Full Suspension – Side Suspension (December 28th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. For those newer to suspension\, each can be performed as a partial or full static suspension\, coming back out of the suspension by reversing the steps taken to get there. For those with more experience\, there will be options for additions or transitions\, before coming out either by reversing steps or continuing through to a different endpoint. The focus here is on sustainability\, balance\, and adaptation to suit and support the person in rope. Each piece of the tie must be well placed so that no one point is taking an undue amount of strain\, and the person tying must choose when to start moving out of the tie such that the person in ropes is in long enough\, but not too long. This creates sustainable suspensions and lets the tied person trust the tie and focus on the experience. We will look at balance points\, planning ahead\, and gauging when to come out so as to maximize the effectiveness of the tie. We will also discuss work-arounds for more common body quirks\, and self-checks and body knowledge for the people being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 28th\, 2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate\, but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part II: Uplines\, Partial Suspensions
This does not mean that the suspension is less strenuous or less risky\, though it does generally mean that the person in rope is close enough to the ground to be brought out relatively quickly. This session focuses on safety\, planning\, body mechanics\, and uplines. We will look at the pros and cons to different upline options\, speed/access/reliability\, and quick/smooth handling of both the rope and of the person in rope. We will examine balancing the body in the air vs the contact to the floor\, and signs that we have found the ‘right’ height. We also look at bringing people out of suspension smoothly and quickly\, communication and risk evaluation between tying partners\, and self-monitoring for those being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 21st\,  2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. SUMMARY:The Smallest Things – Tying with Intention
DESCRIPTION:The smallest things can have the most significant emotional impacts. In this introductory workshop & demo\, Mamana and René de Sans will dive into the topic of spacial relations\, touch\, directionality\, and movement in the most simple and seemingly diminutive ways that will make quite a difference to you and your partner in ropes. Away we steer from the grand gestures of the person tying and the dramatic melting away of the person in ropes that one sees and therefore often unconsciously replicates when tying. Instead\, we go small and intentional looking at the tiniest things we can do when relating to one another and how being careful and intentional will change the way you relate in ropes. \nThe ideas of this class are heavily influenced and draw from the teachings of Barkas\, Addie Tahl\, Akechi Kanna & Akechi Kagura. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 16th\, 2022\, 7-10.00 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & demo \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: rope basics (single column tie\, rope handling\, tension and counter tension). \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes with nice textures\, ropes \nSolo or Partnered:  paired. \nTicket: Price is per PAIR \n  \nWhat we teach/offer: \n– relating to one another in space \n– directionality and meanings of touch \n– body movement (involuntary and voluntary) \n– intention and attention to yourself and your partner \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Series with Addie
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B)\, and on personalization. \n  \nTech Dump Part I: TK-ish ties (December 14th\, 7-10 pm CET) \nThis session can be taken as a stand-alone or as part of the larger series. It covers the version of the TK that Addie uses\, tied both front and back\, with examples tied for different body types\, shoulder configurations\, injuries\, and preferences. We will look at the foundational elements of TK-ish ties\, what each part contributes to the tie\, and what can be modified without compromising the safety and integrity of the structure. \n  \nTech Dump Part II: Uplines\, Partial Suspensions (December 21st\, 7-10 pm CET) \nIn partial suspensions\, some part of the body is always touching the ground. \n  \nTech Dump Part III: Full Suspension – Side Suspension (December 28th\, 7-10 pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 14\, 21\, 28\, 2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. SUMMARY:Meeting Yourself with Empathy
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes it is easier to offer empathy to others than ourselves– let’s work the muscle that is self-empathy and find ways to resource ourselves with more support\, acknowledgment\, and presence. In this session\, you will explore what a self-empathy practice can look like for you. \nWe will explore getting in touch with feelings and needs\, and explore where and how these may sit physically in our bodies. Being able to name and give qualities to our emotional experiences can support us to acknowledge our feelings and reactions make sense. We will find ways to distinguish between the part of us which is having the emotional experience\, and the part of us which is witnessing the part having the emotional experience\, and how this feels to do. There will be a demonstration of what a self-empathy practice can look like and time to practice in small groups. There will also be space for discussion\, sharing\, and reflection. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 13th\, 2022\, 7 pm- 9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: session \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level:  n/a \nWhat to bring:  A journal. Ropes – if you are interested in self-tying and would like to do so for the movement/touch section of the class. Being there is enough! \nThis rope hangout will be in a location with access to hanging points (no bamboo though\, rings only). \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nTime: December 11th\, 2022\, 7-10pm \nCost: 5-15 Euros \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: all levels welcome \nWhat to Bring:  yourself\, optionally ropes  (we can also lend you ropes) \nSolo or Partnered:  both works\, this is peer-learning so partners are not necessary \n  \nSchedule: \n6.45 pm-7:05 pm: doors open (to ensure a safer space\, we ask you to be on time so everyone can see who is present at the starting circle)\n7:15 pm: starting circle\n7.30 pm – 10:00 pm: peer learning and social hangout\, space is chatty and there is no music \n  \nFormat: \nYour role as the participant is to share your knowledge and to get inspired by other people. You ask for help from other participants and help others whenever needed\, especially in risky or emergency situations. There is at least one facilitator present for the entirety of the hangout. The role of the facilitator is to offer the space and be the contact person in case of safety concerns. The facilitator is a participant\, not a teacher. The power of the facilitator is over the space and safety\, not over the knowledge shared. \n  \nAre you a newbie? \nWelcome to the hangout! You can attend at any time of your rope journey. We recommend sharing what you know with others even if you just began to tie. Teaching is the best way to learn! To get started with your rope skills\, take a look at our workshop schedule.\nWe recommend for you arrive at the beginning of the night. We have an introduction circle and go through the code of conduct and other important information. You will also see who else is there. If you can’t make it to the starting circle\, please contact us in advance.\nYou can always attend Rope Hangout alone and find new friends when you get there. If you feel socially awkward\, like many of us do\, bring someone you trust with you\, or send us a message in advance so we can prepare to give you extra support. \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here.

SUMMARY:Magic Tricks for Excellent Rope Handling
DESCRIPTION:This class takes a deep dive into the minute details of what makes good tension\, clean placement\, even lines\, and smooth\, effortless rope movement. \nThese absolutely fundamental (and universally applicable) micro-techniques are difficult to pin down but magic once implemented\, and make the difference between good rope and excellent tying. We will look at how to use hands more effectively\, going into details like which fingers hold tension when\, how to flip or angle rope to prevent twists\, which angles to follow when throwing rope to clear it\, how to multi-task so that one hand can accomplish two (or three) tasks simultaneously. \nWe will break down how the person tying can maneuver their hands and body to tie even cuffs (thigh\, ankle) that stay in place\, or how to tweak those cuffs better suit the needs of a tie.
