SUMMARY:Snuggles and Story Time
DESCRIPTION:Let’s slow down together and end the week/welcome the weekend with some soft body contact and co-regulation. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re an experienced cuddle slut or curious about how to cuddle with people you don’t know\, this session will provide some gentle guidance into a cozy cuddle puddle. We’ll double down on the coziness with a quiet storytime from a queer children’s book in which nothing bad ever really happens. \n\n\n\nTo make this a safe and comfortable space for more people\, this event is non-sexual and we want to be careful about the ways in which it will interact with our senses. With this in mind\, please wear soft\, comfortable clothing and refrain from wearing any fragrances. You’ll be asked at the start of the session to remove glasses\, jewelry\, and things from your pockets that might not be comfortable for others to be in sustained contact with. \n\n\n\nHow it works\n\n\n\n\nNerdy chat about cuddling for co-regulation rather than foreplay\n\n\n\nMore nerdy chat about cuddling with people you don’t know\n\n\n\nExamples of consent in a cuddle puddle\n\n\n\nGentle guidance into the cuddle puddle\n\n\n\nStorytime\n\n\n\nCuddling in silence or with soft music\n\n\n\nGentle guidance out of the cuddle puddle\n\n\n\nOptional sharing/integration time

SUMMARY:Kink is Political – What is “Politics”?
DESCRIPTION:Kink is Political is an online discussion with Addie Tahl\, Georg Barkas\, Andrea Rimon\, and occasional special guests. Participants are invited to join a discussion during which we unite critique with an emphasis on the practical and day-to-day issues and challenges of kink\, intimacy\, and relationships. \n\n\n\nFocusing on concepts central to BDSM\, leather\, rope\, and sex-positive communities\, it interrogates widely adopted approaches and commonly held notions. It aims to understand the politics of kink beyond the language of sexual liberation and politics of sexual liberalism\, both frames that have proven insufficient in addressing widespread harm\, a rising international tide of sex-negativity and reaction\, or in guaranteeing that the most marginalized can sexually flourish. \n\n\n\nKink is Political is an examination of the contexts and consequences of how we talk about and understand gender and sexuality. It is a forum to think about how kink spaces and practices operate\, what works\, what doesn’t\, and what we can use to build something better. \n\n\n\nThis month’s topic: What is “Politics”?\n\n\n\nIn this session\, we’ll collectively ask “What is Politics?” Mamana will join Barkas\, Addie\, and Andrea Rimon to reflect on Karada House’s widely shared “Kink is Political” infographics five years later. Along the way\, we’ll chart out a vision for the series and discuss what it means to have a politically inflected kink practice.  \n\n\n\nGuest: Mamana\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:The Rope Knows When You’re Afraid of It
DESCRIPTION:Effective rope handling can make the difference between a good and a fantastic rope scene. There are two ways of looking at efficiency when tying\, one with relation to time and one with relation to control. \nIn this two part class series\, we will be working on ways to handle ropes and bodies in ways that allow for the person tying being and staying in control of the ropes during all kinds of different situations\, be it free form ties\, close floor work sessions\, or structured suspensions. \n\n\n\nWhat We Will Cover\n\n\n\n\n“Don’t break your knuckles” – Rope handling basics for every level\n\n\n\n“Tying as movement” – translating frictions and wraps into a movement of the other\n\n\n\n“Sabaku” – A movement that is beautiful because it’s efficient.\n\n\n\n“Attention is more important than tension” – How to show the person in ropes that it’s about them and not the tie.\n\n\n\n“About not tying the air” – Suspensionline management that doesn’t leave the person in ropes alone.\n\n\n\nAnd more…

SUMMARY:Rope Hangout: Self-Tying
DESCRIPTION:A rope hangout is an event where we learn from each other\, peer-to-peer\, get to know each other\, and do rope in a relaxed atmosphere\, regardless of experience level. All kinds of Japanese inspired rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku are welcome. \nYou can hang out\, have drinks and snacks and chat with people if you don’t feel like tying. Being there is enough! \nThis month’s special focus: Rope Hangout: Self-Tying\nThe things you research\, share\, and explore at rope hangout don’t have to be on this topic\, it’s merely a source of inspiration that we offer if people are interested. Bring your own topics\, questions and ideas if you like. \n Note: This is not a rope jam. It’s a peer learning environment. \n\n

SUMMARY:Self-Love Is Not Enough: Building a Relationship With Yourself
DESCRIPTION:No two relationships with our Self is the same\, so why should yours look like anyone else’s? Let’s work beyond the statements that say “just love yourself” to figure out how to relate to yourself and help you thrive. \nWhether you’re struggling with isolation\, dealing with loss\, or want to delve deeper into what makes you “you\,” many people say the key is to develop self-love. This is so important… but you need to build a relationship with the person in the mirror. Whether you need to become your own friend\, your own partner\, your own co-worker\, your own lover\, or something else entirely\, this is your chance to find the life balance that serves you. \nBy doing so\, you can also build more fulfilling relationships with others and find support in community. \nNote: This class centers individuals with diverse mental health realities. \nWhat we will teach/do\nIn this class we will get the opportunity to see the wide array of relationships we have with ourselves and work together to brainstorm other ideas to be inspired outside of an assumed lens informed by capitalist tropes. Let’s create a space where we are not alone in this work as well\, because you don’t have to do the work of self-love in self-isolation. We will… \n\nExamine the array of types of relationships individuals have with themselves and choose one or two that you want to move towards or support\nConsider the descriptors of the ways those relationships manifest in your life and determine how to move in that direction\nTease apart the differences between self-love\, self-care\, and toxic positivity\n\n\n

We will dive deeper into topics\, techniques and ideas that give more range and depth to your rope practice. \nTopic of Exploration: Kata-ashi Suspension\nOpen\, beautiful\, and vulnerable. Tie using your choice of chest harness with single column ties and a futomomo to explore one of the most intense suspension positions – kata-ashi\, with one leg up. Practice control and intention — and discover the psychological impact of exposing the body with purpose. You will also learn how to tie a futomomo in suspension. Ceci will show you 3 versions of the position: partial suspension\, full suspension\, and challenging version. \n\n

SUMMARY:Radical Anger
DESCRIPTION:Let’s take it from Maya Angelou. \nLet’s find transformational energies for transformative times. \nThe present-day and historical views that society has on anger are not ones Caritia feels are in anyone’s best interest\, and a number of scholars and psychologists agree. \nThere are rarely spaces or places where anger can be freely and openly expressed\, and there is no room to speak about anger. Caritia invites participants to join in this intentionally held container to speak on and offer guided practices to get to know and understand their own anger\, where it comes from\, and how they can find ways to embrace this poorly understood and complex sensation. \nCaritia will share from personal experiences and offer tools\, care and practical methods to encourage you to explore yourself and your needs with more intention. \nThis class offers \n\nSpace to discover understanding about anger\nIdentifying what boundaries there are\, how they came to be and bringing light to them\ntapping into the emotional body\nShared space for perspectives of shadows – for self and group reflection\nSound as a resource for reaching emotions\nCare\, intention setting and space holding for anger\n\nThis class is for\n\nAnyone seeking to (re)discover their anger\nFolks holding shame\, blockages or numbing to their anger\nFolks curious about supportive tools for processing anger from a de-colonial and neurodiverse inclusive lens\nThis event is for LGBTQIA+ & Friends

SUMMARY:BIPOC Utopias – Play and the Black Experience
DESCRIPTION:This is a separatist space to discuss and lab about kink\, intimacy\, and virtual play space for black\, brown and Indigenous folks. \nFor quite some time\, Caritia has been musing on encouraging and inspiring more BIPOC into the realm of alternative lifestyles and ways of relating. There are many systemic barriers to this\, including patriarchy\, capitalism\, classism and racism. In an effort to change the narrative\, Caritia wishes to offer a monthly gathering of BIPOC to talk\, learn about a topic or practice and support one another through a community that is actively built together\, with the aspiration to gather in person once a year. \nCaritia’s intention is to create a guided\, active space for learning and coming together. This format has the potential to morph and change as the group sees fit. \nWhat we will do\nDiscussing and debate on Aaron Trammell’s book “Torture\, Play and the Black Experience”. It is supportive if you have read the text; however it is not essential for participation. \nWho should join?\nThis space is specifically for Afro-diaspora\, South American\, South East Asia\, black\, brown\, Indigenous\, and marginalized individuals who are interested in kink and BDSM through the lens of intersectional nuances and transformative justice. This space may not fit for all marginalised demographics\, as it is impossible to cover such diversity in one space.

SUMMARY:Navigating Apologies
DESCRIPTION:Apologizing is something that all of us are very familiar with\, weather we like it or not. It is an essential part of how we sustain relationships and practice consensual and meaningful connections. \n\n\n\nIt plays a role in every relationships\, where many of us need to unlearn hetero- and mononormative norms and in this process of unlearning we come across lots of obstacles and trials&errors. Apologizing becomes a central figure in practicing sustainable relationships.  \n\n\n\nWhat We Will Do in this Workshop\n\n\n\nYaniv would like to invite the participants for a little deep dive into what it means to apologize in an accountable and responsible way by looking into a helpful definition of the term accountablity.  \n\n\n\nWe will talk about the different elements of a good apology\, define each participants responsibility and role. It can be difficult to look into apologizing from different angles\, because we need to open up towards the reality that each story can have multiple truths. There will be some voluntary exercises that can help in the future when confronted with a difficult and/or hurtful situation that requires to deal with the process of accountability. Each and everyone can explore those on their own. \n\n\n\nDuring that process we will differentiate between accepting\, forgiving and moving forward. And take a close look into what it needs to be able to gain some clarity on where we stand during that process. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Consent – An Overdue Critique
DESCRIPTION:The concept of consent is omnipresent in the rope world and beyond. And for good reasons. Obviously\, we want to ensure that we don’t harm each other or get harmed in any way\, and consent seems to be the best possible modality to reduce the risk of harm. \n\n\n\nOver the last decade and even before that\, practitioners of rope and kink started to realize that the concept does not come without problems. Therefore\, in order to save the concept and thus\, ourselves\, adjectives have been added to the concept\, such as enthusiastic\, freely given\, risk aware\, and many more. It seems as if almost yearly\, a new maneuver gets spread in the hope that finally\, we can be safe. \n\n\n\nWhat We Will Do\n\n\n\nThis class by Emmy and Barkas is not another such attempt but rather a discussion of the problems that arise with the concept itself and all the adjectives. Where does consent come from\, why is it impossible and still absolutely necessary? What are the principles\, what are the societal problems and how can we navigate the impossibilities of consent without just giving up. \n\n\n\nEmmy (she/they) is cofounder of Studio Allegory and teaches kink and intimacy. Her background in comparative contract law enables her to distinguish between cliches of consent and how it is actually formulated. \n\n\n\nBarkas (they/them) is cofounder of Studio Allegory and teaches kink and intimacy since 2011. They published several articles in international magazines as well as the monograph “Archaeology of personalities – a linguistic approach to erotic rope bondage”.

It is also a great space to have sessions in a safe(r) environment with people you do not know yet. \nWe welcome all styles\, all bodies\, all knowledge levels. There will be cute music\, extra special lighting and snacks. In the last hour of the jam\, we will lower the lights and music and make it extra cozy.
