SUMMARY:Responsibility Rope
DESCRIPTION:Responsibility is an important concept that needs to be paid attention to in a rope scene\, particularly when playing with Semenawa. This is actually the direct translation of the Chinese term for Semenawa ‘责绳’ so it creates an interesting perspective on how Semenawa can be a practice of exploring responsibility; over your own body\, limits\, actions\, and over others. \nIn this lecture/demonstration\, Hua Hua and her model will share the importance of accountability and autonomy when dealing with suffering in rope\, ending the class with a demonstration of their own semenawa style. \n  \nDetails: \nFormat: lecture & demonstration \nMinimum Knowledge Level: no prior knowledge needed\, prior interest in semenawa is encouraged \nWhat to Bring: – \nSolo or Partnered: any constellation \nClass recording: yes \nThis class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 30 days after the event. \n

We have different kinds of conference tickets: \n  \nFull Pass \nRegular ticket: 150 Euros \nSupporter ticket: 200 Euros (The 50 Euros added onto your ticket will subsidize our solidarity tickets with 50 Euros. For each sold supporter ticket we will add a solidarity ticket to the pot). \nSolidarity ticket: 100 Euros \nPay-it-Forward-Ticket: 150 Euros – You pay this ticket forward and a person that cannot afford a ticket will benefit from it and get access to the conference and the recordings on your behalf. —–> You can purchase a pay-it-forward ticket here. <—- \n  \nDay Pass \nGet a ticket for a single day of the conference for 50 Euros. \nGet your day-pass here: Wednesday\, Thursday\, Friday\, Saturday\, Sunday \n  \nFAQ: \nHow do you define “LGBTQIA+” & “womên”? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \nI am not LGBTQIA+ and not a womên\, can I still attend? \nNo\, please respect that this particular event is not for you. There are lots of other events you can attend. But Queerope one is solely for people of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum & womên. \nI cannot afford the ticket but would love to join. What do I do? \nSend us a message via info@karada-house.de. If we have pay-it-forward tickets available we will make them available to you. If we don’t we will put you on a waiting list or see what else we can do. Either way\, we will find a way. \nWhat platform do you use for the virtual conference? \nWe need to use Zoom as it is the only platform available that is affordable and stable enough for bigger groups. Please make sure you can fulfill the requirements for Zoom from your side to have a satisfactory experience.  We will do our best to make the zoom calls safe by engaging all possible security features. You do not have to turn your camera on and you can use any name you like. \nThe times don’t always work for me / I cannot attend everything I want… \nThat is why we will make recordings available to you\, so you can watch & re-watch them within 30 days. \nIf I share my computer with a person\, is buying one ticket enough? \nNo. You are not paying for the computer access but for the knowledge that the facilitators and artists are distributing. Please respect that knowledge has worth and should be compensated. \nI am all alone at the moment and have no partner. Does it still make sense to participate? \nAbsolutely. There will be a variety of topics and skills and not all of them require a partner. You can learn a lot even just by listening and watching or trying things on yourself. We will also provide knowledge and possibilities for self-tying & suspension and other solo practices.

SUMMARY:Domination & Bondage
DESCRIPTION:There are endless ways to tie someone\, different combinations of rope\, and kinky or non-kinky themes. In this workshop\, we will explore domination and submission in the context of rope bondage. \nWhat kind of body positions and ties encourage submission? SUMMARY:Kink & Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur BDSM scenes and subcultures are embedded in our society and societal norms\, in what we know\, and in what we want to transform. Kinky people do not exist in a bubble in which power relationships no longer matter just because we negotiate certain dynamics in our play relationships or are “nice” to each other at play parties. \nIn other words: We bring ourselves with us\, all our experiences and assumptions when we participate in BDSM. We are not automatically of integrity or really empathetic because we like “cool”\, deviating sex techniques or because the label “queer” fits us. \nThis workshop is for folks of the global majority and those who identify within the BPoC spectrum and is about creating an atmosphere of exchange that is as free as possible of (self) accusations and harshness. It’s about gently approaching a violent issue\, the racist system\, in which we are deeply entangled and in which we participate every day. In order to regain our individual\, as well as collective dignity\, and to establish new forms of engaging with the world and systems that we inhabit. Let’s not allow ourselves to be caught up in the performative acts and actions\, as well as acknowledge that we as BPoC folks can not change everything. Acknowledging that “Faster\, higher\, further\, performance\, immediately” is counterproductive. Let’s face ambivalence. Pausing to allow complexity to arrive in our bodies. Polarity is not our true reality. \nOften shame stands in the way. Shame paralyzes\, triggers the impulse to flee\, and wants to hide. That is why in our workshop we will devote ourselves to shame\, taking time for it\, in the hope not only of appreciating it but also of being able to leave it behind us again and again. In the hope of being able to be a little more part of the change that is so urgently needed.\nIn addition to simple body and breathing exercises and meditation that can take place lying down\, sitting\, or standing\, we approach the topic of shame by telling stories\, exchanging ideas in small groups\, and role-playing. The focus is on how perceiving our own bodies\, and furthermore our nervous system\, and in this way making new experiences that\, in the best case\, help to overcome shame and to get out of the rigidity into motion. \nThis workshop is open to the full spectrum of BPoC & PoC folks who are seeking intentional space to share\, relate and express on the topic of shame and the challenges faced by the systems that oppress those whom the system was not built for and as it relates to BDSM and kink in your life. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  February 2nd\, 2023\, 7 pm-9.30 pm \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends\, BPoC & PoC\, only \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, curiosity\, comfortable clothes\, snack food\, blanket \nSolo or Partnered:  both work (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \nRecording: no \nNote: No one will be turned away for lack of funds\, write to us with your offers and contributions. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, and agender. \nFriends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Yes\, please / No Thanks – Giving Consent\, Holding Boundaries\, Negotiating Well
DESCRIPTION:Time to upgrade some of the most important kink and life skills! \nThe general idea of consent and boundaries is often portrayed to be as simple as offering someone a cup of tea. However\, in reality\, it is much more nuanced and complicated\, especially when considering our intersectionalities\, different contexts\, and power structures. And then what? Holding boundaries also sounds rather easy but how do you know what your boundaries are and how can you hold them with grace and without making them into walls that cut you off? And how do you negotiate your play and other events when life is messy and emotions are involved? \nCaritia will guide and support participants in solo\, paired\, and group exercises to get to grips with what consent\, boundaries\, and negotiation means to you\, how it can be understood\, and applied in everyday situations\, and the mindsets that can open you up to more playful interactions with others. Let’s dive in\, get messy and acknowledge the dimensions. \nThe workshop aims to get to know yourself and your boundaries more deeply. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 28th & 29th\, 2023\, 10.30 am- 6 pm (1 hour lunch break in between) \nFormat: Workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring: paper\, pen\, questions\, and stories \nSolo or Partnered:  both work (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \nTicket: price is person \n  \nWhat we will teach: \n-Layers of consent\, \n-nuances of play\, \n-communication tools\, \n-intersectionality\, \n-relating to others \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nAll visitors and participants must wear an FFP2 mask at all times. \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Primal Play: Hunter\, Hunted\, Predator\, and Prey
DESCRIPTION:Each of us holds an animal inside us\, and that creature is primal\, wild\, and tapped into the ancient power that says hunt\, or be hunted\, run\, or be captured. What kind of creature are you\, and how can you tap into that energy? \nIn this class\, we will explore diverse forms of primal play\, from growling and throating your lover in the bedroom to constructed experiences stalking someone through woods and dark alleyways… and more. What kind of feral beast are you\, and why? Whether you are partnered with someone primal\, are primal yourself as an identity\, enjoy the play\, or are simply curious\, we will work on skills for negotiation\, “reading” our partners when verbal tools are off the table\, and communication skills in general. Consent can be complex\, so let’s build our knowledge and safety skills together. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 27th\, 2023\, 8-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Beginner/Intermediate with new opportunities for ideas you may not have been exposed to before for advanced explorers \nWhat to Bring: Openness to share\, listen\, and learn with curiosity\, knowing we all come from different perspectives on this complex topic. \nSolo or Partnered: all constellations welcome\, everybody needs a ticket \nClass recording: Yes. This class will be recorded (only the facilitator\, not the participants) and is available for ticket holders for 14 days after the event \n  \nWhat we will teach \n– Discuss the wide array of primal play styles out there \n– Build tips and tools for going into primal “space” and coming back to being a socialized human \n– Find ways to connect with “primal” partners \n– Examine the complexities of consent and safety for these types of dynamics and play \n– Improve skills for negotiation and communication when verbal systems are not available \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Barkas’ City of Kinbaku Series
DESCRIPTION:“il n’y a pas de hors-texte” – there is no outside of text. \nBarkas’ approach to Kinbaku or bondage is one that is rooted outside of rope\, outside of kink\, and even outside of sexuality. It looks for its ideas in architecture\, museums\, amusement parks\, orchestra rehearsals\, and public transportation. \nIn this workshop series exclusive to Karada house\, Barkas will take the participants on a journey through Barkas’ metaphorical city of Kinbaku. We will explore the evolution and current presentation of concepts\, old and new\, that will enhance participants’ rope play. This workshop follows concepts rather than specific patterns\, so participants should expect to come away with thoughts\, inspiration\, and avenues of exploration\, rather than step-by-step progressions. \n  \nPart I: Prologue \nJanuary 25th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nWhere is Barkas Kinbaku coming from and what do the various influences mean? A lesson in establishing contexts. Exercises in seeing\, in listening\, and reading. \n  \nPart II: Barkas Cit of Kinbaku \nFebruary 1st\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nAll the different ways in which Barkas’ Kinbaku can be approached. Exercises in doing. \n  \nPart III: Outlook \nFebruary 8th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nThrough exercises\, we will see where Barkas Kinbaku could go and establish a possible trajectory. Exercises in expectations \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 25th\, February 1st & 8th 2023\, 7 pm-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: Single column tie. SUMMARY:Trauma-informed Negotiation
DESCRIPTION:Let’s make space to acknowledge the reality that most (if not all) of us may carry some histories and experiences of trauma in our bodies. When we play with the vulnerability and intimacy of kink and BDSM\, we could come into contact with these realities. How do we take better care of ourselves and one another if this is the case? \nThis class will support you to enhance your negotiation skills beyond the basics of what you do and don’t want to do during play. How do you communicate and ask transparently about trauma? How could this show up and what to do if someone becomes triggered? What does safety and care look and feel like for you in a kink context? Let’s take an in-depth exploration into how we can develop our negotiation practice to be more trauma-informed. \nThis class is suited for people throughout the kink spectrum\, from top to bottom\, Doms and subs\, riggers and people who like to be tied\, and switches alike – we will look from the perspective of both ‘sides’ of the equation\, what needs to be known\, how to support one another\, and how to create negotiation styles which work for you. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  January 5th\, 2023\, 7 pm- 9 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nKnowledge level:  n/a \nWhat to bring:  A journal. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part III: Side Suspension
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. Over the past 6 years\, she has amassed a wide\, varied repertoire of suspension experience\, with a heavy emphasis on tying different people with different preferences\, and adapting ties to people rather than the other way around. Pre-pandemic\, she taught TheSpace’s Techie Tuesdays\, a weekly series that focused on how and why ties work the way they do\, helping participants to build a working\, functional knowledge of tying for suspension. \nThis progressive series will be heavy on understanding rather than memorization\, on technical details (why something works in situation A but not B\, how it can be adapted for B) and on personalization. We will examine everything from hitches to hip rotations\, with the goal of achieving smooth rope and body handling\, predicting and preventing trouble spots\, and staying one step ahead of necessity. \nThe goal is not to arrive at a particular visual end result\, but to use all our skills and knowledge to create ties and situations that make the person in ropes happy\, however their ‘happy’ manifests. \n  \nTech Dump Part III: Full Suspension – Side Suspension (December 28th\, 7-10pm CET) \nThe ‘Full Suspension’ Tech Dumps will each focus on a particular tie/pose/suspension\, with different options based on each participant’s level of experience. For those newer to suspension\, each can be performed as a partial or full static suspension\, coming back out of the suspension by reversing the steps taken to get there. For those with more experience\, there will be options for additions or transitions\, before coming out either by reversing steps or continuing through to a different endpoint. The focus here is on sustainability\, balance\, and adaptation to suit and support the person in rope. Each piece of the tie must be well placed so that no one point is taking an undue amount of strain\, and the person tying must choose when to start moving out of the tie such that the person in ropes is in long enough\, but not too long. This creates sustainable suspensions and lets the tied person trust the tie and focus on the experience. We will look at balance points\, planning ahead\, and gauging when to come out so as to maximize the effectiveness of the tie. We will also discuss work-arounds for more common body quirks\, and self-checks and body knowledge for the people being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 28th\, 2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience. Throughout\, there will tips\, tricks\, and suggestions for those who are tied. There will also be time for tying practice\, and many (though not all) elements can be modified for those who like to self-tie. \nFor those tying: No previous suspension knowledge necessary\, especially for the early sessions. Those who are new to TK-ish structures are also welcome to participate\, but should take the TK session first\, and be willing to stick to the more basic versions/variations of ties. For the suspension classes\, a good goal for tying participants is to be able to tie a suspension-worthy upper body tie smoothly\, a non-collapsing single column tie on the first try\, and to open\, move\, and re-lock a suspension line without fumbling or cussing. \nFor those being tied: I recommend having some previous experience in rope so that those being tied have a frame of reference and can make more informed decisions. This does not have to include suspension experience. Likewise\, there are no pre-requisites for flexibility\, fitness\, lack of injuries\, etc; one of the goals of the series is to tie for the differences in how individuals work\, to use that individuality to best advantage. In Addie’s experience\, the pairs who have the most success in workshops are generally those who can laugh together and who approach challenges as a team. \nIf you have any questions about those guidelines\, please contact Addie (addietahl@gmail.com). \nWhat to Bring: ropes (the techniques covered work well for natural fiber rope\, and synthetic will behave differently. This series is not suited to tying with synthetic rope)\, a partner\, suspension point if you want to tie along \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: Yes. The recording will be made available after the live class for 14 days. \n  \nWhat else to know \nAfter your successful ticket purchase\, you will be sent an email with the Zoom login data for this event. \nIf you cannot afford this event\, please check the ticket option “solidarity” for reduced ticket prices. SUMMARY:Tech Dump Part II: Uplines\, Partial Suspensions
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe details and mechanics of technical suspension are Addie’s specialty and passion. This does not mean that the suspension is less strenuous or less risky\, though it does generally mean that the person in rope is close enough to the ground to be brought out relatively quickly. This session focuses on safety\, planning\, body mechanics\, and uplines. We will look at the pros and cons to different upline options\, speed/access/reliability\, and quick/smooth handling of both the rope and of the person in rope. We will examine balancing the body in the air vs the contact to the floor\, and signs that we have found the ‘right’ height. We also look at bringing people out of suspension smoothly and quickly\, communication and risk evaluation between tying partners\, and self-monitoring for those being tied. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  December 21st\,  2022\, 7pm-10pm CET \nFormat: workshop (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: single column tie\, double column tie & it is highly recommended that participants take the TK-ish Tech Dump before the Suspension Tech Dump(s) to ensure that we are all working from the same starting point. \nThere is no previous suspension experience required to participate\, and each suspension will be shown with levels of difficulty to offer information\, challenge\, and accomplishment for participants with any level of previous experience.
