SUMMARY:Introduction to Suspension
DESCRIPTION:This weekend workshop is aimed at people who are already experienced with floor work and are looking to begin suspension. We will discuss some of the reasons behind why we do suspension\, the different styles and ways to use it\, and the feeling of suspension from the perspective of both tying partners. We will look at some of the most important elements in safe suspension\, and we will gradually build these elements into a basic suspension. \nIt is recommended that participants attend with a partner they already have some experience tying with\, and have practiced a suspendable upper body harness together (of any variety that both partners are happy with). Gestalta will take some time at the beginning of the class to review everyone’s harness individually\, make small suggestions for improvement if needed\, and will also explain what to look for in judging whether or not a harness is suspendable. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 29th & 30th\, 2023\, 11am -6pm (1-hour lunch break) \nFormat: in-house workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: \n• Ability to tie a suspendable upper body harness that both partners are comfortable with. \n• Basic awareness of anatomy in ropes (for example nerves and circulation) \n• Single column tie\, and basic frictions (e.g. half hitch) \n• Experience with tying on the floor\, including rope handling\, placement and tension \nWhat to Bring:  minimum of 8 ropes of 7\,5 – 8 meters in length\, plus some short pieces if you have\, food and snacks for your day\, comfortable clothing (something you would do movement in)\, questions\, and an open mind\n \nSolo or Partnered:  Partnered\, price is per pair \n  \nWhat we will teach/do \n• Reviewing harnesses for safety \n• Attaching suspension lines \n• Locking suspension lines safely and efficiently \n• Different types of suspension equipment and how to change your technique accordingly. \n• Suspension line management \n• Clear and effective communication with your partner \n• Moving and lifting your partner’s body \n• The uses of hip harnesses \n• Thinking a step ahead \n• How to get down \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:Find your Rope Partner(s)
DESCRIPTION:You are interested in rope but you are lacking a partner/partners? \nIt’s not easy to find a rope partner in Berlin. Karada House is often approached by rope practitioners of any level\, to help facilitate a partner search. So here we are\, helping you find like-minded people to bond with and become your rope partner or event rope group so you are not alone and can practice with others. \nFind your Rope Partner is an event similar to speed dating events that allow you to get to know a number of people and chat with them about rope\, life\, love\, and all other relevant things. Once you are done chatting\, you can indicate if you are interested in getting to know this person further. If both of you indicate interest\, you “match” and we will make sure to give each of you the contact information of the other so you can meet and see if things click rope and otherwise. \nThe matching event will take place in the garden. In the house\, there will a rope jam. After the event you can stick around and talk some more to your favorite people\, even try tying with some or just indulge in watching others tie. For participation in the rope jam\, please purchase an extra ticket. \nNote: The matching event is free but you must apply. The rope jam is 5-15 Euros sliding scale. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 27th\, 2023\, 7pm-8.30pm \nFormat: speed matching event \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Womên \nLanguage: English \nHow to apply: Please fill out this form by July 5th\, 2023. \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. Adaptations for physical needs will be shown and can also be provided upon request. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nWomên describes people who are identifying themselves as female in their gender identity. People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined.

SUMMARY:Gestalta’s Study Group
DESCRIPTION:This study group is an opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Gestalta’s personal rope style; their techniques\, thought processes\, and aesthetics\, and receive feedback and coaching on both the minute details and overarching principles of shibari from a practitioner with more than 16 years of extensive experience on both sides of the rope. \nEach session will have a focus—a specific tie\, element\, or principle—that invites a deep exploration. Gestalta will present a range of options for each theme to accommodate students at different stages and abilities. This approach ensures a thorough understanding of the chosen topic and allows participants to refine their skills and also find inspiration and insights to expand their rope journey by observing the possibilities at different levels. Space will be given at the end of each session for student-led discussions\, allowing for reflection and the exchange of experiences. \nGestalta’s teaching approach goes beyond technical proficiency\, emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical and psychological aspects of shibari\, with a focus on developing the skills of both tying partners. Gestalta’s classes are known for their rigorous yet accessible and welcoming nature. Through their guidance\, you will refine your abilities\, expand your knowledge\, and explore new horizons in your rope journey. \nTo keep the study group dynamic and adaptable\, the theme of each session will not be advertised online\, or scheduled too far in advance. Instead\, participants will be invited to join Gestalta’s Study Group telegram/mailing list\, where the themes for the next classes will be discussed and announced. This flexibility allows for organic\, student-driven discussions\, ensuring that the direction of the classes remains open to exploration and responsive to the needs and interests of the group. \nThis study group is not suitable for beginners. However\, it welcomes a range of students at an intermediate level and beyond. Whether you are confident with suspensions or prefer tying on the floor\, Gestalta will guide and support you at your current skill level\, ensuring that each participant receives personalized attention and guidance. SUMMARY:CSD Cake & Aftercare
DESCRIPTION:  \nDyke March! CSD! All the gayness! \nSo much is happening in Berlin this weekend so we want to chime in and offer a slow and cute space for coming undone and doing aftercare for all you wonderful queerdos. \nWe are opening our new and wonderful house and garden for the afternoon so you can come by\, relax and calm down amongst other queer people. There will be hammocks and little areas for cuddling and enjoying touch. Or hang out in the kitchen with us and just chat. We will most probably be baking a bunch of cakes and there will be coffee\, tea\, snacks\, etc. to nourish your bodies and souls. \nLight and slow kink interactions are welcome. So is nudity. Anything that allows you to come back in a soft and nice way. \nWhat does SLOW mean? It means calming things down\, doing them slowly and intentionally\, with consent and good boundaries in place.
If you are unsure about whether your level is suitable please contact Gestalta at mgmt@gestalta.co.uk for clarification. \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  every second and fourth Wednesday of the month\, 7 pm-9.30 pm \nFormat: hands-on workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: knowing enough frictions to tie a simple chest harness \nWhat to Bring: comfortable clothes\, ropes\, safety equipment \nSolo or Partnered:  partnered \nPrice: price is per pair \nWe offer flexible options for participation with 5 and 10 class passes available at reduced costs. SUMMARY:Semenawa Series
DESCRIPTION:Semenawa is a concept in Shibari that is often misunderstood. \nSemenawa is often translated as ‘torture’ rope\, however\, a more accurate term might be to describe it as ‘torment’. The intention is for both the rigger and model to be consciously exploring suffering through rope\, however\, what can make it difficult to grasp is whether or not the suffering should feel pleasurable. Semenawa is often seen as something that must feel painful\, but suffering is not exclusive to pain. \nIn this two-part series\, we will be exploring the subtle nuances in creating a tormenting experience without compromising on our limits and safety measures. The focus will be on stirring up the inner torment of the individual experience\, rather than applying pain. \nPart 1 (July 11th\, 2023\, 7 pm-9.30 pm) \nIn this class\, hua hua will introduce her own personal approach to Semenawa\, which she’s developed through her studies with Naka Akira and integrated with my other practices. Semenawa is a state of mind rather than a style. hua hua will share how we can identify this state of mind through positions\, timing\, rope handling\, and communication. The workshop will end with a demonstration of Semenawa play with space for feedback and questions afterward. \nPart 2: (July 18th\, 2023\, 7 pm-9.30 pm) \nIn the second class of this series\, we will be focusing on the practice of patience and endurance in creating a Semenawa experience. The class will include exercises that can be tied on the floor without a suspension point. Students may choose to tie along with the class\, however\, this is only optional. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  July 11th and 18th\, 2023\, 7 pm- 9.30 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop/demo \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge level: Basic Knowledge of Shibari e.g some context of the culture and consent practices\, experience with simple knots and frictions if they wish to tie along \nWhat to bring:  Rope if you would like to tie along\, and participate with a partner. \nSolo or Partnered:  All constellations. The ticket price is per person. \nClass recording: Yes. The session will be recorded and available for 14 days after the workshop. The participants will not be recorded. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand.  \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, queer\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic\, agender. \nFriends describes people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgement to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume\, presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.
