People that fit this category can be part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum or not. We created this category specifically to indicate that we also invite cisgender\, heterosexual womên. \nThe word is our own creation and serves as a replacement for the word “womxn” which is now being (ab)used for transmisogynist statements. The ^ in womên represents a marker (similar to the “x” in womxn) that wishes to give emphasis to the fact that womênhood is an intersectional umbrella term that holds many different people and experiences and is not biologically predetermined. \n

SUMMARY:Kink & Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur BDSM scenes and subcultures are embedded in our society and societal norms\, in what we know\, and in what we want to transform. Kinky people do not exist in a bubble in which power relationships no longer matter just because we negotiate certain dynamics in our play relationships or are “nice” to each other at play parties. \nIn other words: We bring ourselves with us\, all our experiences and assumptions when we participate in BDSM. We are not automatically of integrity or really empathetic because we like “cool”\, deviating sex techniques or because the label “queer” fits us. \nThis workshop is for folks of the global majority and those who identify within the BPoC spectrum and is about creating an atmosphere of exchange that is as free as possible of (self) accusations and harshness. It’s about gently approaching a violent issue\, the racist system\, in which we are deeply entangled and in which we participate every day. In order to regain our individual\, as well as collective dignity\, and to establish new forms of engaging with the world and systems that we inhabit. Let’s not allow ourselves to be caught up in the performative acts and actions\, as well as acknowledge that we as BPoC folks can not change everything. Acknowledging that “Faster\, higher\, further\, performance\, immediately” is counterproductive. Let’s face ambivalence. Pausing to allow complexity to arrive in our bodies. Polarity is not our true reality. \nOften shame stands in the way. Shame paralyzes\, triggers the impulse to flee\, and wants to hide. That is why in our workshop we will devote ourselves to shame\, taking time for it\, in the hope not only of appreciating it but also of being able to leave it behind us again and again. In the hope of being able to be a little more part of the change that is so urgently needed.\nIn addition to simple body and breathing exercises and meditation that can take place lying down\, sitting\, or standing\, we approach the topic of shame by telling stories\, exchanging ideas in small groups\, and role-playing. The focus is on how perceiving our own bodies\, and furthermore our nervous system\, and in this way making new experiences that\, in the best case\, help to overcome shame and to get out of the rigidity into motion. \nThis workshop is open to the full spectrum of BPoC & PoC folks who are seeking intentional space to share\, relate and express on the topic of shame and the challenges faced by the systems that oppress those whom the system was not built for and as it relates to BDSM and kink in your life. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 8th\, 2023\, 7 pm-9.30 pm \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & Friends\, BPoC & PoC\, only \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: N/a \nWhat to Bring: yourself\, curiosity\, comfortable clothes\, snack food\, blanket \nSolo or Partnered:  both work (everybody needs to buy a ticket) \nRecording: no \nNote: No one will be turned away for lack of funds\, write to us with your offers and contributions. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. You actively request and use people’s chosen pronouns. You remain mindful of the fact that Karada House is first and foremost a space for queer people that you are also invited to attend. You have a genuine concern for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ people and remain in awareness of heterosexual and gender-straight privileges. \nFriends don’t have to be perfect. None of us are. We request that we all proactively work and strive to be good friends and allies to marginalized people.

This might include visible or invisible disabilities\, neurological non-normativity\, realities that come from aging\, plus blindness and visual impairment as well – how do you modify your explorations for your (or a partner’s) realities. Let’s talk about our challenges\, brainstorm for each other\, and also discuss the fun or creativity that has come up along our journeys! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 7th\, 2023\, 8-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: workshop & discussion (virtual) \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: All \nWhat to Bring:  An open mind\, curiosity\, and a desire to explore the topic. \nSolo or Partnered:  both (each participant needs a ticket) \nClass recording: yes\, participants will not be recorded. SUMMARY:The FAT Lab & Jam
DESCRIPTION:Are you tired of feeling like your body doesn’t fit the narrow imagery of bondage? So are we. This is a rope jam for people who dress in sizes 44 and up. \nBecause we want a space that celebrates the fact that not only can all of us tie and be tied\, but we look gorgeous doing it. And because we want a space where we can help each other and share knowledge specifically about tying fat bodies. In an environment where we are not the exception but the norm. \nCeci Ferox is available during the jam to help and give ideas. They have experience and knowledge in tying fat and heavy bodies both from inside and outside the ropes. \nIf you can buy clothes in normal clothes stores\, please make sure to give extra space for the experiences and voices of those with bigger bodies than yours. \nWho is welcome? \nPeople who dress in sizes 44 or larger because smaller sizes do not fit their bodies. Yes\, you can bring your smaller rope partner with you. No\, you can not come alone if you dress in sizes that are smaller than 44 or only dress in those sizes because you like “baggy” clothes. \nPlease contact us if you have any questions or needs about accessibility! \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  September 5th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm – Doors open between 6.45-7.15 pm\, only \nFormat: Lab and Jam \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ \nLanguage: English \nWhat to Bring:  \n  \nWhat we teach/offer \n– Collective start with an introduction round \n– Lab time where we ask specific questions on tying or being tied and troubleshoot together \n– Fun times practicing and playing \n  \nSafety Concept & Regulation \nPlease consult our safety concept and regulations for this event here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:The Politics of Kink – Kink is Political!
DESCRIPTION:This exploration takes the participation on a journey behind the scenes of “the scene”. We will ask ourselves what it could mean that something seemingly so private could possibly be thought of as political. And in asking that\, we will find out that if we study certain practices from a historical perspective\, we automatically show that they are constructed. The histories of kinky practices act\, then not as a tool for their justification\, but rather to discover their uses as political agents. This workshop is about the politics of kink and the kinks of politics; it is a tour through kink as deviance\, through kink as oppression and liberation alike. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 30th\, 2023\, 7-10 pm CET (Berlin time) \nFormat: discussion \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nPrice: 25 Euros \nTicket: price is per person \nRecording: This session is not recorded \n  \nWhat we will discuss: \n. Possible histories of kink\n. Deconstruction of terminologies\n. What is political? What is power?\n. Kink is political – now what? Possibilities.\n. Discussion with us \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop and discussion are held in spoken English with automated captions in English which are provided by Zoom. Communication within the class can be had via chat but also people can come on mic and speak. If you participate in this workshop and need more assistance\, i.e. someone reading out the chat\, etc\, please message us at info@karada-house.de beforehand. \n  \nWho is this event for? \nLGBTQIA+ describes the full spectrum of non-mainstream sexual orientation and/or gender identity\, meaning: lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, pansexual\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer/fluid\, \nFriends describe people of any and all kinds of gender and sexual identities who are aware and respectful of the necessity\, needs\, and boundaries of a queer safe(r) space and its marginalized community. \nWhen you consider yourself a friend you show acknowledgment to and are respectful of everyone’s self-expression and do not assume presume or project non-consensual ideas onto others. SUMMARY:Rope for Performance\, Movement & Artistic Expression
DESCRIPTION:This intensive workshop topic focuses on the art performance as a form of expression and movement with ropes in the center. We will study the options that Rope Art offers to us beyond being a tool\, but a laboratory to experiment and create. \nAnyone can integrate art performance on their rope journey\, regardless of the desire to be a performer. Nevertheless\, it’s a powerful way to investigate and understand better our own rope practice privately and publicly. Pauline’s aim is to reach with each participant a balanced reflection of their own previous experiences and interests to create their own unique way to move\, express and perform through and with ropes. Shaping their own interdisciplinary self-expression style\, pushing the borders of what ropes can be/offer past the Shibari standards and meanings. \nParticipants will be presented with theoretical content and with hands-on exercises. This workshop must be viewed as a laboratory and experimentation process that will depend more on what the participant wants to play and work with than their own experience with ropes. Anyone of any background can participate in this workshop\, every technical exercise will be adapted and worked around each participant’s capabilities. We are not looking into creating classic patterns of Shibari Performance\, but we want to investigate what we really desire to perform and show to work it through meaningfully and thoughtfully. \n  \nPauline Massimo has created and directed multiple pieces where ropes and other art practices intersect\, besides their past experiences with other types of performances.\nThe main most recent ones are: “Lazos y Sombras”: 4 Shibari performers\, with movement and emotional interpretation of a concept. “Sincronicidad”: 5 performers (1 is a musician) telling a story that intersects experimental music live\, multi tying and parallel performances mixing Shibari\, Butoh\, and movement expression. And the latest one is “LIBRE” where Pauline has been performing with a co-performer as a human brush and body expression being the director of the painting or as a solo artist painting and self-tying while a violoncellist follows our movements and expressions with her musical experimentation\, the main point of this piece is the abstract expressionism in its rawest form within full improvisation being played by all artists. \nPauline has more than 10 years of experience in performance\, from cabaret\, classic and neo-burlesque\, circus ropes\, shibari performances\, live painting\, Butoh dance\, and other concept performance art. And most recently in the past 3 years\, they have been focusing on helping other artists to display their ideas and guide them to create their own artworks. As an organizer and curator for Espacio Nos\, performance art is at its heart and the goal of expanding the ideas of performative arts merging different universes together\, and creating a truly multi-dimensional interdisciplinary form by queer and marginalized artists. \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 27th\, 2023\, 10 am-5 pm CET (1-hour lunch break) \nFormat: Workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: you need to have basic tying skills. SUMMARY:Grand Opening: The Impossibility // The Utopia of Karada House
DESCRIPTION:In many ways\, Karada House is an impossible project floating between margins\, thresholds\, attributions\, and expectations belonging to none and all of them at the same time yet fighting for the existence of some kind of yet to imagined other. And yet\, this weekend we celebrate our 4th anniversary and our official opening of the new space which has been built with the help of hundreds of donations\, lots of gay audacity\, and a ton of bone-crushing work. A possible future is on the horizon filled with utopic hope. \nPlease join us for 2 evenings of interactive and classic performances measuring the margins of the vast landscape we walk in and work in – the land between the impossible now and the imagined future\, or is it the other way around? \nYour artistic guides through this landscape of no’s\, possible yeses\, and whispered maybe’s are: \nCaritia \nCeci Ferox \nLayal \nLuna Duran \nMamana \nMontserrat “La Cabra” \nPauline Massimo \nRené de Sans \nVanasay Khamphommala \n  \nEach evening will consist of an interactive performance to guide you through what we call Karada House and its impossibility which will gradually move into the utopia of Karada imagined by multiple artists in a range of performances. There also might be snacks. Content warning: On Sunday\, there is a hook suspension involving blood. \nSaturday \n6.00 pm – 7.00 pm The Impossibility of Karada House – interactive performance \nWelcome to this impossible project in its impossible new house. Walk through our collective psyche as facilitators and space holders and enjoy the ride. \n7.30 pm: TRUST – with Caritia \nTRUST – a piece using the media of wax to dive into sensation\, connection and community. Is there space in performance for collaboration interwoven with intense care? TRUST is a fragment of an intention to meet Caritia’s desire for exploration with the collective body and perform non- performatively. Surrending to the chaos of the consensual unknown. An interactive performance experience between Caritia and audience members \n8:45 pm:  Kesytys – with Ceci Ferox and Tina \nCeci and Tina bring you a queer bondage performance about resistance and letting go. They challenge the expectations of what rope bondage is supposed to look like by mixing up traditional gender and behavior norms of tops and bottoms. \n9:15 pm: The Invocation of the Muse –with Vanasay Khamphommala and Caritia\nA poet looking for inspiration summons the muses for help. But instead of the Ancient deities\, a new Muse answers. This improvised performance puts to the test Plato’s intuition that erotic and poetic inspiration are intertwined. \nSunday \n6.00 pm – 7.00 pm The Impossibility of Karada House – interactive performance \nWelcome to this impossible project in its impossible new house. SUMMARY:Floating Hashira Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will provide the technical\, theoretical\, and practical basics to begin to understand vertical bamboo suspension (“Floating Hashira”). \nFloating Hashira was originally conceived as a concept by Akechi Kanna (Japan). In this class Pauline Massimo will teach their own rendition and techniques of this concept and will guide participants to find their most unique ways to self-develop in this style of using bamboo\, accompanying from basic to more complex fundamentals for all roles: models\, riggers & self-tying people. \nBecause of the dynamics of this intensive one-day workshop\, it recommends limited role-switching during the workshop.\nIf there is any concern about the movement of the bamboo as a single-point suspension\, there is a possibility to practice as a fixed hashira in case there is any available in the space\, or having the bamboo very close to the ground to avoid spinning. \nDuring the workshop it will not be mandatory to be tied in a Takate Kote if you don’t want to\, different possibilities will be offered so that everyone is comfortable and safer.\nNo harnesses will be shown. \n  \nEvent Details \nDate & Time:  August 26th\, 2023\, 10 am-5 pm CET (1-hour lunch break) \nFormat: workshop \nAudience:  LGBTQIA+ & FRIENDS \nLanguage: English \nMinimum Knowledge Level: \nIt is very important to meet the requirements for this workshop to ensure that the group is at a uniform level of practical knowledge.\nKnow about safety\, anatomy of the tied-up body\, risks of injuries\, accidents\, and how to act in each situation.\nHave a good understanding of single and double-column ties\, and basic and complex frictions. Know how to tie a proper harness suitable for suspensions on the chest and lower part of the body that the tied-up person finds comfortable. Know how to make suspension line locks either in rings or/and bamboo horizontally\, and have some experience suspending. \nThe model must have enough experience (as well suspended) and body awareness. Know how to communicate when something is not right and recognize the signs of a nerve injury and differentiate from the numbness of blood circulation. \nSelf-tying folks should fulfill all the requirements above in their role. \n  \nWhat to Bring: \nIt is recommended to have a uniform set of ropes of 7.5 meters or 8 meters and some shorter pieces\, if possible.\nDuring the course\, you will need approximately\n– 1 rope for the suspension line for the floating bamboo (must be new and sturdy and of good quality).\n– 3-4 ropes for suspension lines (preferably 1-2 of them should be as new as possible).\n– And the number of ropes you usually use to tie 2 harnesses on the body (average 4-6 ropes) and some extra shorter pieces may be needed.\n– Your own safety scissors. \nSolo or Partnered:  partnered \nPrice: 144 Euros per pair for the entire workshop \n  \nWhat we will teach you \n– Risks\, injuries\, and accidents: how to avoid and/or mitigate them.\n– Suspension line locking in vertical bamboo and fixed locks for hashira.\n– Demonstrations and exercises with static partial and low suspensions\, with static full suspensions and more complex dynamic suspensions.\n– Special attention to the anatomy and well-being of the tied-up body.\n– Adaptations and creative explorations. \n  \nMandatory Covid-19 rules \nIf you would like to inform yourself about other safety measures we have in place\, please consult our Covid-19 measurements here. \n  \nAccessibility Note \nThe workshop is held in spoken English. SUMMARY:Gestalta’s Study Group
DESCRIPTION:This study group is an opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Gestalta’s personal rope style; their techniques\, thought processes\, and aesthetics\, and receive feedback and coaching on both the minute details and overarching principles of shibari from a practitioner with more than 16 years of extensive experience on both sides of the rope. \nEach session will have a focus—a specific tie\, element\, or principle—that invites a deep exploration. Gestalta will present a range of options for each theme to accommodate students at different stages and abilities. This approach ensures a thorough understanding of the chosen topic and allows participants to refine their skills and also find inspiration and insights to expand their rope journey by observing the possibilities at different levels. Space will be given at the end of each session for student-led discussions\, allowing for reflection and the exchange of experiences. \nGestalta’s teaching approach goes beyond technical proficiency\, emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical and psychological aspects of shibari\, with a focus on developing the skills of both tying partners. Gestalta’s classes are known for their rigorous yet accessible and welcoming nature. Through their guidance\, you will refine your abilities\, expand your knowledge\, and explore new horizons in your rope journey. \nTo keep the study group dynamic and adaptable\, the theme of each session will not be advertised online\, or scheduled too far in advance. Instead\, participants will be invited to join Gestalta’s Study Group telegram/mailing list\, where the themes for the next classes will be discussed and announced. This flexibility allows for organic\, student-driven discussions\, ensuring that the direction of the classes remains open to exploration and responsive to the needs and interests of the group. \nThis study group is not suitable for beginners. However\, it welcomes a range of students at an intermediate level and beyond. Whether you are confident with suspensions or prefer tying on the floor\, Gestalta will guide and support you at your current skill level\, ensuring that each participant receives personalized attention and guidance. SUMMARY:Kink and Neurodivergence
DESCRIPTION:  \nOur intimate connections can be a mixture of complex\, delightful messiness that each one can find a challenging prospect to walk through. Add to that the multiplicity of how each individual processes through your senses\, minds\, and emotions\, the potential for misunderstanding is vast. When intimacy\, touch\, and desire are added to that already heady mix is it any wonder that things become confusing. \nWhy is it vital to speak and share ideas about neurodivergence/ neurominority people within the context of kink and intimacy in general? How can more supportive paths be found to support the curiosity of intimacy and connection? \nIn this open discussion and lab\, Caritia aims to open up a personal and collective conversation about the topics of kink and neurodivergence\, inviting participants to actively dialogue and share their experiences around this complex topic. And in doing so explore ways in which the nuance and messiness can be brought to bear as part of a utopia of sharing space with each other. \nNote: This is an alive and ongoing process of learning\, it is not intended to be a ‘fits in a box’ idea or concept. \nWho is this for: \nThis workshop has been derived for a variety of folx: New folx to kink. Minimal experience folx. Highly experienced folx. Curious and interested in learning more about yourselves folx. People with neurodivergence and those without. It means being in community with intention\, not just intensity. It means playing in a space that is semi-private with people to watch and people watching you. It means enjoying the energy of others being in the same space and seeking flow with each other across the room. \nWe are open and happy about what you bring as long you do not dominate the entire room with the noise\, space you need\, or vibe.
