SUMMARY:Stormy Tying - Ranboo Style Series
DESCRIPTION:Ranboo\, literally translated means stormy\, overwhelming\, wild. \nAbout 10 years ago\, Barkas developed Ranboo as a way of rejecting a static and often seemingly boring practice of rope bondage. A wild dance while tying with each other is the result.\nRanboo is characterized by a large amplitude of variation of distance\, speed\, and intensity\, paired with an element of surprise. It is not a set of patterns or a “visual goal” but a way of interacting\nwith your partner(s) through rope\, a specific interview type\, if you want. \nIn this 3-parts workshop series\, Barkas will accompany the participants through the principles\, applications\, and variations of Ranboo\, while keeping a strong focus on safety. \nDisclaimer: The highly dynamic nature of ranboo comes with the potential of greater risk for injuries. We strongly recommend participants watch the series in order and only practice exercises from the latter parts if they are proficient in the basic techniques. \nPart I Introduction (April 22nd\, 2026\,  7-10 pm CET)\nIn the introduction\, we will get to know the key terms of ranboo and get familiar with movement and techniques to safely tie in this style. \nPart II Next Level (April 29th\, 2026\,  7-10 pm CET)\nWe increase the pace and variation of distance and apply the principles learned in Part I to some standard patterns. \nPart III Floor & Air (May 6th\, 2026\,  7-10 pm CET)\nRanboo on the floor is challenging due to various aspects. In this part\, we use these challenges to further familiarize participants with the concepts developed in the previous parts but on the floor. Some challenges of ranboo that appear on the floor are similar when we go into suspensions. Other challenges are added. We go through a suspension and see how ranboo affects the way we can tie in the air. \n

SUMMARY:Reinterpreting Shibari - Floor Work
DESCRIPTION:It has been 10 years since the passing of Yukimura Haruki\, who is still regarded as the main instance when it comes to tying on the floor. His style of tying\, often called aibunawa or caressing rope\, followed a very distinct approach to rope and the goal of a scene and his followers mostly adhere to a relatively narrow interpretation of his teachings. \nIn this workshop series\, Barkas will depart from what they have learned under Yukimura Haruki and explore different avenues of tying on the floor.\nTo take the myth of a process-oriented Shibari scene seriously we will focus on the notion of emergence in tying. How can we tie on the floor in a way that the future remains unknown? How can this container be open enough to adapt to a situation rather than an outcome? \nThis class is geared towards people who have already some experience with floor work but want to break free from a too narrow view on the possibilities. \nApril 1st\, 2026\, 7-10pm: Setting up the container\nKey concepts through the lens of emergence.\nMovement on the ground: Elephant\, Archimedes\, & Peter Pan \nApril 8th\, 2026\, 7-10pm: Variation of contexts\nDoes floor work need to be caressing? Does it need to be sexualized? Does it need to be slow? Does it need to be codified in patterns? \nApril 15th\, 7-10pm: Suspended floor work \nSuspensions close to the ground\, either partial or full\, add a whole category of possibilities to the game that is based on emergence. \nBarkas studied under Yukimura Haruki for almost 4 years during their regular trips to Japan. In 2015\, Barkas received the name Harutsuyu by Yukimura Haruki. Although they are not a licensed Yukimura-ryu instructor\, Barkas’ teachings of floor work have contributed to a wider spread of and access to Yukimura’s style in North America and Europe.

DESCRIPTION:In most Japanese-inspired styles\, chest harnesses – especially TKs – are a central element: practical\, aesthetic\, and an ideal way to connect with the person in ropes. \nWhen designing this workshop five years ago\, I asked myself: how can we tie the hands in a creative way while maintaining technical precision\, aesthetic consistency\, and a clear dialogue with the person in ropes? Since then\, I have taught this workshop many times\, and these bondages have evolved through practice\, repetition\, and transmission\, while new ties have gradually emerged. \nParticular emphasis will be placed on adapting these ties to different body types\, so that each person can find what works best for them. SUMMARY:The Singles Rope Jam - with Guided Warm-Up
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Singles Rope Jam\, a space for you to find new rope friends and tying partners (or rekindle old ropelationships). Ceci will guide you through a collective warm up\, starting with a moment of grounding self-tying and then finding a partner or a small group to tie with. Afterwards you will have plenty of time to chat\, tie\, and connect in our lovely big house. The garden with suspension points and hashiras will also be open for you if it’s not raining. \nWhat happens at the Singles Rope Jam?\n\nSpace introduction and intro round at 7.30pm\nGuided self-tying and tying in pairs or small groups\nFree mingling\, cruising space\, and tying with people\n\nAll participation is voluntary\, and you get to choose who you want to partner with\, or stay with self-tying for part or all of the event. Ceci is available for any support you might need around navigating the social space. Doors open at 7pm and close at 9pm. We play the gongs 30 minutes before closing so you can finish calmly and don’t need to rush. \nWho is the Singles Rope Jam for?\n\nAnyone who is curious about tying with new people\nAdventurers who want to have a new experience\nSocially anxious people who need some guidance to get warmed up\n\nThis is a space for people under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella\, we embrace all experience levels and identities within this spectrum. We welcome all roles: people tying\, people getting tied\, switches\, self tyers\, rope sluts\, nerds\, and everyone in between.
