SUMMARY:Beyond Ropes - The Music is in the Pauses
DESCRIPTION:So much of rope education focuses on patterns and positions and sequences. This workshop series with Barkas and Emmy goes in the opposite direction. In three parts we invite the participants to explore with us what lies in between and beyond mere rope techniques. From “un-planning” scenes and waiting for each other to the small but meaningful pauses.\nWe will demonstrate that people can get more out of rope not by learning yet another pattern or sequence.\nPart 1 (July 8th\, 7-10pm CEST): Planning or not planning a rope scene.\nWhat are the advantages and disadvantages or either of the approaches and how can we consent to what we can’t yet know?\nPart 2 (July 15th\, 7-10pm CEST): Pauses and what happens in them.\nWhen is it a good time to pause? How to communicate that this was intentional? And how to convey “planlessness” as a pause? \nPart 3 (July 22nd\, 7-10pm CEST): After the scene is before the scene.\nWhen to stop rope scenes if there is no prebuilt storyline or a goal? How do rope scenes influence each other and “communicate” through time.

SUMMARY:Queer Rope Jam
DESCRIPTION:It’s queer rope jam time\, babes! Once in a while you gotta do ropey stuff amongst other queers and just enjoy yourself. No posing\, no being cool or extra good at doing ropey things needed. Come as you are\, exhale and enjoy yourselves. \nWhat is a rope jam?\nRope jams is an open space format. Part hangout\, part jamming with other like-minded people who are into rope bondage/shibari/kinbaku. Come and hang out and watch others do ropey stuff or do some yourself.  The queer rope jam is where you can bring your (rope) partner(s) or meet new people who love to tie\, be tied and/or self-tie. It is also a great space to have sessions in a safe(r) environment with people you do not know yet. \nWe welcome all styles\, all bodies\, all knowledge levels. There will be cute music\, extra special lighting and snacks. In the last hour of the jam\, we will lower the lights and music and make it extra cozy.

SUMMARY:Shibari Structures Toolbox: Building Blocks & Design Choices
DESCRIPTION:Shibari is not just about what you tie\, but how and why you build it. \nThis workshop focuses on the underlying structures that make ties functional\, adaptable\, and expressive. Instead of learning one fixed pattern\, you’ll develop a modular understanding of rope: how suspension harnesses are constructed\, how frictions shape tension and stability\, and how small design choices change both the look and feel of a tie. \nWe’ll work with core building blocks: wraps\, frictions (X\, L\, half-moon)\, and basic harness blueprints\, learning and understanding how to build a gote (TK/box tie)\, a hip harness\, and a mermaid tie. From there\, we’ll explore how different traditions and styles approach similar structures\, and what happens when you start modifying the blueprint. \nAlong the way\, we’ll look at body geometry\, balance\, and how to adapt ties to different bodies and intentions. The goal is not to memorize patterns\, but to understand the logic behind them so you can build\, adjust\, and tie with more confidence. \nThis workshop is ideal for those ready to move beyond fundamentals into more intentional and structured tying. \nWhat to expect\n\nHands-on work with core structural elements: wraps\, frictions\, and harness foundations\nIntroduction to key frictions (X\, L\, half-moon) and how they affect tension and stability\nA modular approach to building and modifying harnesses rather than memorizing patterns\nGote\, hip harness\, and mermaid tie\nExploration of different tying styles and how design choices shape outcomes\nFocus on body geometry\, balance\, and adapting structures to different bodies\n\nWho should join\n\nRiggers who are comfortable with basic frictions\, single/double column ties\, and simple harnesses\nPeople who want to understand why ties work\, not just how to replicate them\nThose looking to improve stability\, adjustability\, and intentional design in their rope\nAnyone curious about different styles of shibari and how to develop their own approach\nRope practitioners preparing for more complex floorwork or future suspensions

SUMMARY:Shibari Structures Toolbox Weekend
DESCRIPTION:A two-day deep dive into the building blocks of shibari: how structures are created\, and how they shape bodies. \nThis weekend brings together two complementary workshops based on our Rope Structures series\, that move from understanding how ties work to exploring what they do. On day one\, Building Blocks & Design Choices focuses on the foundations of structure: harness construction\, frictions\, and the design decisions that make ties stable\, adaptable\, and expressive. You’ll develop a modular way of thinking about rope\, moving beyond fixed patterns into understanding the logic behind them. You will learn a gote (arms behind the back tie)\, a mermaid tie\, and a hip harness. \nOn day two\, Restricting Bodies\, we apply those same building blocks to create intentional restriction. We’ll explore how rope can shape posture\, limit movement\, and create specific physical and emotional experiences\, working with positions\, connections\, and simple setups that bring structure into the body. You will learn Ceci’s arms front harness\, a futomomo\, a crab tie\, and how to connect body parts to harnesses and furniture. \nTogether\, these workshops offer a practical and exploratory approach to shibari: not just learning ties\, but learning how to build and use them with intention. The focus throughout is on adaptability\, body awareness\, and making informed choices\, whether you’re tying for aesthetics\, play\, or deeper exploration. \nYou can join for one day or both\, but attending the full weekend will give you the clearest sense of progression from structure to application. Buy a full weekend ticket here\, or navigate to the descriptions of each day for a one-day ticket.

SUMMARY:Shibari Structures Toolbox: Restricting Bodies
DESCRIPTION:This workshop explores how to use rope to create clear\, intentional restrictions in the body — whether through tying limbs together\, shaping posture\, or connecting a body to itself\, another person\, or an object. We’ll work with positions such as hogties\, folded and asymmetrical shapes\, and tying to furniture\, using accessible tools like single column ties\, basic harnesses\, and frictions. \nTo continue growing your shibari harness toolbox\, you will learn Ceci’s arms front chest harness\, a structured futomomo\, and a crab tie. You can also continue practicing harnesses from the previous day’s workshop. This workshop gives you a first taste of techniques you will need for moving into shibari suspensions. \nWe’ll also cover practical considerations like transitions\, adaptability for different bodies and flexibility levels\, and maintaining awareness of safety while working with restriction. \nThis is a hands-on\, exploratory space to better understand how rope shapes bodies\, and how to make intentional choices about the kind of experience you’re creating. \nWhat to expect\n\nPractice with tying body parts together and creating restrictive positions\nExploration of classic positions (e.g.\, hogtie\, M-shape\, kata-ashi) and their variations\nWorking with harnesses\, single column ties\, and basic frictions to build restriction\nAttention to how restriction changes sensation\, movement\, and experience\nGuidance on adapting positions for different bodies\, flexibility\, and contexts\n\nWho should join\n\nRiggers and rope bottoms with solid fundamentals who want to explore restriction more intentionally\nPeople interested in how to use harnesses in play\nThose looking to expand their repertoire of positions for floorwork\nAnyone wanting to better understand how to create intensity safely and sustainably\nPractitioners curious about combining structure\, posture\, and environment (e.g.\, furniture)

SUMMARY:Rope Lab: Movement & Expression - Floor Transitions
DESCRIPTION:This is our experimental shibari playground for all skill levels. Each month explores a new topic — from shame and semenawa to performance\, advanced movement\, or the mythical “3rd rope” in TKs. We rotate between two themes\, always bringing new inspiration to your rope practice. Open to all levels with foundational knowledge. Bring your curiosity\, your questions\, and your rope. \nThis month we are focusing on: floor transitions – how to tie in movement on the floor\, find flow\, and create an emotional story arch by transitioning through different body positions. This class is suitable for all knowledge levels as long as you go the basics down. \nMovement & Expression\nThese classes are dedicated to the research of the body\, movement and the artistic side of shibari. The topic varies\, and can be anything from dancing with rope or tying people using plastic bags to adding decorative and supportive elements to your harnesses. Inspiration is guaranteed at the Rope Lab!

SUMMARY:Escapism Series\, Part I
DESCRIPTION:Who’s been there? You spend twenty minutes tying the cleanest\, prettiest gote of your life… and the person in ropes looks at you\, shrugs\, and casually wiggles themselves out like it was never that serious. Humbling. Kind of funny. And devinately annoying. \nThis workshop leans directly into that irony: shibari is often not inherently inescapable. So what happens when we stop pretending it does? Escapism is a lab-based\, curious\, slightly mean-spirited exploration of tying specifically for the purpose of not being able to get out. Not decorative rope. Not “it’ll probably hold.” Rope designed to trap\, frustrate\, and quietly ruin someone’s confidence in their escape talent. \nPart I: July 29th\, 2026\, 7-9.30pm CEST\nPart II: August 5th\, 2026\, 7-9.30pm CEST \nWe’ll fuck around with:\n\nMinimal rope vs. obscene amounts of rope\nSimple ideas pushed way too far\nPredicaments that look stupid until you’re inside them\nMean little concepts that rely more on physics\, leverage\, and bad choices than pretty patterns\nWhat if the smartest escape route becomes the worst option?\nWhat if struggling actively makes things harder?\nWhat if the tie isn’t complex at all — just deeply unfair?\n\nExpect experiments. Some will work. Some will fail hilariously.

SUMMARY:When I Move\, You Move — Body Movement for Play and Rope
DESCRIPTION:How well do you know your body? Frequently\, within kink\, intimacy\, and body-based practices\, this question comes up. It is not a prerequisite to know everything\, as part of the play is discovering exactly this; however\, if we wish to be intentional and caring within the plays and practices we participate in\, what foundational knowledge might support us? \nIn this workshop\, Caritia will guide participants through an empowerment-centred space to explore bodies — your own and those of your cohorts — and to (re)discover movement\, bodily awareness\, and what these mean for you and your play. Together\, participants will investigate how bodies communicate\, respond\, compensate\, resist\, soften\, and connect through movement and touch. \nThrough solo\, partnered\, and group-based exploration\, participants will build greater body agency and self-knowledge\, learning to recognise personal limits\, habits\, strengths\, tensions\, and desires. Caritia will offer practical tips and tricks on body mechanics\, weight-sharing\, posture\, mobility\, and the interconnection between our bodies and the bodily presence of others. \nParticipants can expect to leave with tools for more intentional movement in rope and play\, increased confidence in noticing and responding to their own bodies\, and a deeper understanding of how collaborative learning and embodied awareness can enrich intimacy\, trust\, communication\, care\, and creativity.

SUMMARY:The Single Greatest Rope Exercise. Ever!
DESCRIPTION:Not an exaggeration! If Addie could teach everyone\, regardless of level\, just one exercise it would be this one. If ropes were music this would be an etude\, an exercise that can be practiced in different ways\, with different emphases\, to develop different techniques and skills. It covers protecting finger joints\, nailing and maintaining tension\, preventing rope burn\, and body handling and movement while tying. And it results in a suspensionable harness\, if you are into that! \nPeople are welcome to switch\, come solo and find someone to tie with\, or come solo and practice on themselves. Not quite as effective but still worthwhile.

SUMMARY:Basket Tie Variations & Transitions
DESCRIPTION:The basket harness is a versatile structure for creating semenawa-inspired shapes. Through subtle adjustments and different tying choices\, it can offer a wide range of experiences and emotional textures.\n\nThis workshop will focus on the basket harness itself:\nhow to build it\, adapt it to different bodies\, and use it intentionally to support the dynamics of a scene. \n\nWe will then explore a serie of transitions based on the basket\, examining different ways to attach uplines and transform the shape while maintaining continuity and progression.\n\nParticular attention will be given to the development of intensity\, exploring how each position can be deepened and refined before evolving into the next step of the session.

SUMMARY:Rope Lab: Play & Connection - TBA
DESCRIPTION:This is our experimental shibari playground for all skill levels. Each month explores a new topic — from shame and semenawa to performance\, advanced movement\, or the mythical “3rd rope” in TKs. We rotate between two themes\, always bringing new inspiration to your rope practice. Open to all levels with foundational knowledge. Bring your curiosity\, your questions\, and your rope. \nThis month we are focusing on: TBA \nPlay & Connection\nThese classes are dedicated to the research of the interpersonal\, connective\, and fun side of shibari. Forget about rope technique for a while and learn hands-on skills for actually playing with what you know. The topic varies from month to month\, and can be anything from pain and predicament ties to fun games like rope fight club. Come learn the skills that take your sessions from good to fantastic!

SUMMARY:Murasaki Haruan – Renbaku Salon
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate salon-style evening with Murasaki Haruan\, centered around the practice of Renbaku – a unique approach to tying in which multiple riggers engage with a single person in ropes in sequence\, allowing emotional and energetic shifts to unfold. \nThis evening is not a traditional performance\, but rather a space for quiet observation\, reflection\, and learning. Murasaki will guide the experience\, either by taking part in the tying or offering live commentary as dynamics develop. Each session may explore how presence\, breath\, and subtle decisions in rope bondage shape the shared experience. \nThe evening will feature two tying sessions\, each lasting approximately 30–40 minutes\, with a short break and group reflection between them. Whether through quiet intensity or gentle connection\, this event offers a rare opportunity to witness and reflect on the depth of interactions that rope bondage can evoke. \nSession 1: Murasaki + Renée de Sans tying Tamandua\nSession 2: Murasaki + Georg Barkas tying Addie Tahl
