Caritia & Bishop Black: Gold

This Performance took place at Karada House on January 31st 2020

Drawing inspiration from the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi. Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”), also known as Kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”), whose philosophy treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

Each artist paints, to co-create, heal and recreate what was broken, distorted, tormented or shattered, as part of their narrative and collective ancestry, returning their collaborative joy back to body, mind and soul.

Ron Hades: Rope meets Soul

This Performance took place at Karada House on January 31st 2020

This performance lives at the intersection of shamanism and bondage, focusing on the spirit and how the mind can be set free from the body. As shaman Ron Hades guided us to the door of our inner universe and opened it for us. The Ritual used elements from Mother Nature to pull the spirits closer to the Earth in order to reach a more open state of consciousness.

“I use the Way of Water to touch your dark emotions, and go into the shadow. Through this Way I will lead you to reproduction, creativity, movement, change and manifestation. We are repelled by pain and fear because these are an indication of separation. Pleasure opens our energy centers, whereas pain and fear close them.”

Sawa: Installation

This Performance took place at Karada House on January 31st 2020

The performance by Sawa complemented Miah Flowers exhibition “Diversity in Ropes” with three models becoming part of the display. The audience is invited to interact with the models and their rigger in their respective disposition, while experience and witness consent, its fluidity and anchoring power through time and space.

Rope, Chords & Strings // Freedom

This Performance took place at Karada House on January 17th 2020

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom”.  – attributed to Viktor Frankl, Neurologist & Holocaust survivor.

What is freedom? How do we express freedom? And to what extent is yours dependent on mine? In the Performance Rope, Chords & Strings, we got pushed our collaborative boundaries & the audience got invited to both witness and participate. Exploring freedom through anonymity and role-play, improvisation, exploration and time.

Rope, Chords & Strings was an interactive performance and collaboration between

Caritia (Rope)
Alice Lagaay (Words)
Louzie (Guitar)
& audience members

Performance devised by Gestalta & Shantel Liao

The wings of the ephemera,
Are robes, bright and splendid.
My heart is grieved; –
Would they but come and abide with me!

The wings of the ephemera,
Are robes, variously adorned.
My heart is grieved; –
Would they but come and rest with me!

The ephemera bursts from its hole,
With a robe of hemp like snow.
My heart is grieved; –
Would they but come and lodge with me!

“Fu You (Mayfly)” from Odes Of Cao, Classic of Poetry
